Chapter 7: Paint
I smiled and hugged her. I went back o my room and smiled at Alexander.
"My mom got us tickets to our favorite musical!" I said. Alexander looked very surprised. I could tell by the way he reacted to things he probably didn't have a lot growing up. I hugged him.
"You don't have to do anything for me" Alexander said as he hugged me back.
"Did you have a lot growing up?" I asked. I could tell the answer was yes when he didn't respond.
"Do you want to talk about it" I asked trying to sound sweet so it didn't sound like I was forcing him to say anything.
"Not really" he responded. I nodded.
"Do you want to stay with me again" I asked. Ever since Alexander and I started talking again he would come over almost everyday, it was as if he had moved in.
"I don't know" Alexander shrugged. I felt bad. I knew he only didn't want to stay with me because he was afraid I would yell at him again.
"I'm sorry" I said looking at the ground. My face heated up as I felt hot tears run down my cheeks, he would never forgive me. I hurt him. Alexander hugged me.
"I forgive you." He mumbled reassuringly. I looked up at him as if to say 'I don't deserve to be forgiven', he put a hand on my cheek and wiped away my tears. Alexander kissed me. My first kiss! I can't wait to tell Peggy! He pulled away and started apologizing.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that" he said. I smiled at him.
"I'm not mad" I shrugged. He smiled back. I kissed him. Why not return the favor.
At school during class me and Peggy were passing notes, I told her all about what Alexander had done. She told me about the date she went on Maria but after much angry scribbling we both agreed I had a better day yesterday. The bell rang and we could go to lunch. Miss.Theodosia, made me stay after to talk to her. Aaron Burr got mad because he had a huge crush on the teacher.
"Could you tutor a student for me?" She asked.
"Who?" I mumbled.
"Thomas Jefferson" she responded. I couldn't tutor Jefferson! He liked me and the fact that I was dating Alexander wouldn't stop him from flirting with me, and I know Jefferson gets good grades, he must have asked the teacher if I could tutor him.
"No" I said shaking my head a bit.
"That's fine, I'm not really sure he needs a tutor." She said reasonably. I went to lunch. Alexander was sitting with his, very tall, intimidating, friends. I sat beside Alexander, no one looked over at me except Alexander who asked me why I was late. He got really mad, he knew how Jefferson was. I grabbed his hand and told him I wouldn't talk to Jefferson. I had no need to talk to him, he would just flirt with me and make it weird. One time Alexander beat up Jefferson for flirting with me, the best part is he did it before I was with him.
"Lafayette's having a party tomorrow, want to come with me" Alexander asked. I had never been to a party but I already knew what they were about.
"No" I said not even considering it. Alexander sighed but I still wouldn't go. An angry Peggy came over to the table.
"You chose your boyfriend over me!" She whined. I looked at her unimpressed.
"You won't even sit with me!" She continued. I rolled me eyes and turned back around towards Alexander. I heard Peggy storm off as everyone looked at me.
'You can go sit with her' Alexander whispered. I shook my head, I wanted to sit with him not Peggy.
Lunch ended and I walked to history with Alexander, like always. We sat next to each other and looked up at the teacher.
"Your projects are due in 2 days, get it done" Mr. Washington said firmly.
I went to the website Alexander had found for me and started doing research. I wrote a few more paragraphs on my report and class ended. I was pretty happy with what I had got done, I could easily finish it tomorrow.
I had free time so I went to the library. I got a few books on Anthony Ramos to help me finish my report. I looked over to my right, and Jefferson is walking towards me. Just my luck. I rolled my eyes at him and walked away but he grabbed my arm. I pulled my arm away and started walking away again. I don't know what Jefferson wants but I promised Alexander I wouldn't talk to him. Luckily the bell rang and I had an excuse to leave.
I walked to art and sat next to Peggy where I was assigned to sit. Peggy started being rude and telling me off for spending so much time with Alexander. At one point she took a small bottle of paint and put it all over my shirt. You could see where she tried to put 'Alex' on my shirt.
