Bio: The sika deer (Cervus nippon), also known as the Northern spotted deer or the Japanese deer, is a species of deer native to much of East Asia and introduced to other parts of the world. Previously found from northern Vietnam in the south to the Russian Far East in the north, it is now uncommon except in Japan, where the species is overabundant. Recently, few populations were introduced to Yellowstone Island and they managed to survive in their new home, despite it has many predators around. They are now found throughout the moorlands, prairies, taiga forests, flatlands, alpine meadows, mountainous plateaus, rocky mountains, temperate grasslands, boreal birch forests, highlands, alpine grasslands, shrublands, steppes, boreal forests, temperate woodlands, scrublands, icy mountains, redwood forests and wetlands of Yellowstone Island. On Yellowstone Island, largest herds of sika deer formed due to many predators, especially wolves and dholes. They are also one of the most common species of deer in Yellowstone Island.
