YAKARI'S pov.

The day had finally arrived.
The chosen hundred had already arrived at the training ground waiting for the commander's instructions.

Most of us were very nervous.
Finally the commander arrived at the venue.

He gave a straight face to the crowd as he began to speak.

"As you lots know there will only be fifty of you who will be picked for this assignment. Now to make sure that it's the best that are picked some set of rules have been picked. If any one of you losses any challenge that person will be sent out of this regiment immediately and will not be admitted into any of the other regiments. Now those who want to leave can leave now.

There were lots of murmuring at the training ground and soon a lot of the soldiers started turning back.
Then we were thirty.

"You are still too plenty. But I will make use of you. Get you gears ready we leave at sunrise".

I turned and I saw ñatasha was still in the training ground. I was so happy.
As soon as she saw me ,she started racing towards me.
"Thank the stars you made it. I was scared you left". She said as she wrapped her hands around my neck. Then she leaned forward and kissed me.

I was left stunned that I forgot to return the kiss.

"Is there any problem?. Look I'm sorry if it was all of a sudden, I thought we were on the same chapter. It won't happen... ".
I immediately returned the kiss. This time I had the time to feel the warmth of her lips. I then wrapped my hands on her breast. She gave out a light moan.

I stopped immediately I heard footsteps heading towards us. Shit.

I saw the look on her face and it was that of disappointment and In truth i could relate with her. It was my first time I ever kissed a girl or lady to be precise. I didn't want it to end.
"We will continue when we come back from the mission, I promise " she said before she kissed me and ran off to gear up.

I mounted my horse as I rehearsed the rescue plans given to us by commander zeus this morning in my head.
Ñatasha's horse soon pulled up beside mine. She looked more relaxed than I was.

"You look really nervous for someone who is a captain,  you sure you alright? ". She asked as she came closer.

I looked straight into her eyes and gave somewhat of a fake smile.
She then touched my chin with the tip of her fingers and smiled.

"You can't even fake a smile properly. Look I really enjoyed what we did yesterday and I would like if we could progress in our relationship. I know its too fast but let's do it now we have each other ,please"

I wanted to tell her I felt the same but I kept quiet. And just gave another smile.

Soon the rescue party started moving.

"Remember the plans if you want to stay alive, remember the orthorox will not let us go easy so we have to do it quick and fast. Do you understand? ". Lieutenant đrax belliti  ,the man in charge of the rescue mission said before we departed the camp.

Now listen carefully to the plan. The  thirty soldiers were divided into search parties of six with five in each party. Now the first party will be headed by lieutenant đrax and they will be headed upward the formation. Then there will be two on each sides of the formation leaving one in the middle.

Captain lozur was in charge of one of the parties in the left flank of the formation and I dealt with the one in the middle.

This plan was done so that we could cover enough land in as minimal time as possible. Once the mine has been reached the front party would identify the rest by firing an arrow filled with green powder into the air and once the other parties see it they to do the same. But if the encounter orthorox opposition they are to fire the ones filled with red powder.

Ñatasha was on the right flank and was the leader of one of the parties.
It was three hours into the journey and we hadn't encountered any trouble so far. All of a sudden a red arrow was shot in the air from the left flank. Seemed like they had encountered some orthorox warriors on their way. Another was fired from the same flank . Trouble wasn't far from us.
"Ĺokky, take care of the party while I go check out what's going on over there okay".
I changed direction Immediately as I headed for the left flank.
On getting there it was such a horrific sight. I saw both orthorox and human warriors' bodies lying lifeless on the ground. I couldn't locate lozur though.

"Stop... Please stop captain lozur... We went after the big scary orthorox... He will get himself killed... Please". One of the warriors said as he kicked the bucket.

Damn

This was bad. I hoped he wouldn't show up. Well I hope didn't though but it seems like the person we all dreaded came to the show.

I got my red arrow and shot it into the sky. I kept galloping on my horse as I chased after lozur and the orthorox warriors.

In the corner of my mind I hoped ñatasha was alright. I had a lot I wanted to say to her. With this thought I galloped even faster.
Then the front flank fired the green arrow and I was relieved that they had found the hostages. But I still have to help out lozur.

Good.
I just saw his horse. He would not be far from here. As I walked farther I heard clashes of swords. Lozur was battling some random orthorox and not the man I feared.

I then joined in the fight. As he tried getting a swing at Lozur's head, I stopped it with the side of my sword and then running my sword against his and causing sparks to go flying all and about some entered his eyes and blinded him before I went for his head.

Slash.

His head bounced on the floor twice as it dropped. Lozur looked very relieved.
"I don't believe I'm saying this but thank you". Lozur said as he was breathing heavily.
I just gave a smile.

"Come on, let's go get your horse and head for the front flank".
As we rode on we didn't say anything to each other until we reached lieutenant đrax 's group. When we arrived the rest of the remaining groups had arrived.
As soon as ñatasha saw me she ran towards me and hugged me. She soon started crying.

"Ĺokky told me you went after lozur and the rest of the left flank that were still alive. You left me worried about you. Please don't do that again."

"I promise I won't make you worried again ".

But it was strange we were at the mine and we saw no-one but the hostages all being tied up with their mouths covered with rags.

As we advanced towards them they started crying and nodding like we shouldn't save them, one of them was even stuttering. Đrax took off one of the hostages mouth rags out.
"You fools. We are all dead. Run now".
The miner said with anger in his eyes.

"No need for that. You were all dead the moment you set foot on this orthorox property ".
It was the man we all dreaded that was right in front of us.

ORKAGOR.

To me it felt like we were outnumbered. We were less than twenty and we were to face this beast.
As advanced towards us he rode slowly on his hoovier, and swinging his large axe and making a funny whistle.

We walked back slowly as though we were ready to run.
All of a sudden đrax advanced for him and started making strikes for his head . He just simply dodged them then using the back of his axe to hit him. He hit đrax so hard that he flew right over our heads and into one of the bushes behind the mine.

"Whose next. Or are you all scared? ".

He then got down from his hoovier and took of his jacket showcasing his blood stained chest.
"In that case, I will do the attacking . If you don't mind? ".

Taking the first swing at the men in the front flank, took out all of them almost instantly.

Slash.

This time the axe was poised at me and I responded quickly to save my head. This time it was me taking the swing as he blocked it with his axe. As our battle intensified, I could hear ñatasha telling the hostages to run to the place where the horses were located.

In time some soldiers joined this tussle against orkagor with me. One of the soldiers tried striking the left side of orkagor's thighs to cripple him. Well that didn't go well. His sword got stuck on his leg and orkagor used one of his daggers to stab him directly under his jaw making the dagger come out of his forehead.

All the other soldiers that tried fighting orkagor died in very horrible manners. There was the last one that joined me and him I pitied the most. Orkagor had me in his arm as he wanted to strangle me slowly as he killed my other comrades. Then this soldier ran towards him with all he had but before getting there orkagor kicked him on his junkies upwards and trust me this guy went like eighteen feets from the ground and on landing back to the ground, orkagor got out his axe and took a swing for his head.

Slash.

Damn. That was just uncalled for.
I summoned all my strength together and got loose from his grip and stabbed him on his lap, thinking it would buy me sometime.
Almost immediately orkagor lifted his axe but this time aiming to cut me into two equal halves.
I reacted quickly and went out of its way leaving his axe stuck on the ground. I then saw an opening.
I ran on the axe and lifted myself in order to get a clear cut at his head. But that plan was short lived as orkagor slapped my body out of his way midday on the air.

I hit one of the rocks far away from him. I saw him going after the rescue team.

Ñatasha.

She has get out of there. Slowly I got up and followed him.

"Come on , you guys should get into the cargo. Come on. " ñatasha told the hostages as they were about to depart.
She then touched the rider telling him to advance.

"Hey Ĺokky, have you seen yakari?. He should be here by now".

Lozur was about mounting his horse when he saw the head of one of his comrades roll beside his horse.

"Where do you think you are going to?. You all will die here and no one will see your body. Hahahahaha!."

Lozur then rushed him but he brushed him aside without any struggle. Other soldiers then joined in including ñatasha. And one by one , either they were left headless or limbless.

Lozur then tried again but this time orkagor used the back of his axe to hit him on the head leaving lozur unconscious. Orkagor then lifted his axe to finish the job. But there was enough time for Ĺokky to get a shield over Lozur's head but it was not enough.
Orkagor's axe went right through the shield and tore ĺokky into two equal halves and in the process severing Lozur's right arm.

All that was left was him and ñatasha. She just stood there frozen as he approached her.
"Please don't kill me. Please".
I was weak I won't be able to get there on time to save her.
Orkagor didn't listen.

"Orkagor!. Take me instead. Let her go. " I kept limping towards him.

"Don't worry, it will be alright my love. Run while you still can, please. I won't bear it if you die to please".she said in tears.
I tried running towards them. But each time I kept falling down.

I couldn't let him kill the love of my life. But there wasn't much I could do. To make it worse he picked up a spear from the ground broke out the blade from it and threw it at my leg.
Arghhh
Shit. I was badly injured and loosing lots of blood.

Orkagor then brought out a dagger from a poach on his waist and slowly slit her throat.

I was In tears.

Another person I cared about just died.
With that I fell to the ground and went unconscious.
Before it all went black I crawled over to her body to hold her for the last time.
I wished she wasn't part of this. I wanted her to be happy with me. But it was too late.
She was gone.

I wish i told her how much I loved her.
I wish i didn't just smile and let her not know how I felt.
But it's to late.
I would never get to kiss her again.
