3.Secret Flight
At the moment we are in the first class section of the biggest plane I have ever seen! I twitched a lot and looked to Ace who was sitting in the 2 seat row across where I am. Ace and I are the only ones in first class, we have it all to our selves, and I gotta admit, it’s pretty cool. Ace was busy on his laptop, I assume he’s communicating with Amaimon or busy with work. To have this so much money, I can only presume he does big work. Or he just steels the money and gets away with it, but then he’s been running for more than 500 years, hmmm. In any case I still have a few questions for him about Amaimon, but I’m sure it can wait. Any case I told Ace that I lived fairly close so I went to change my clothes into a jean and a grey hoodie. Ace and I later met each other at a local park where he arrived with a bag. Then somehow, not even sure how, I ended up here, on a plane, to miles away from where I lived for 18 years. I stared out the window, looking down at the runway. We’ll be descending in about 20 minutes. I wonder how long we’ll be flying, and will we go in one shot, or stop at different places and take a bus of some sorts? Well asking Ace is out the question, he’ll either start laughing or yell at me for interrupting him. I heard him smirk which made me turn to him. His laptop was off and now he’s staring at me.
“What?” I asked.
“No one’s around, ask me what’s one your mind. I know when we get there that nothing will make sense if you don’t have all the answers now.” I nodded.
“One shot to there? Or will we stop at some point? And if we do will it be by other transportation, or still plane?”
“We won’t stop.”
“How long will it take?”
“We’ll be there tomorrow around 5 AM.” And it’s now 10 AM because it’s still practically school so…19 hours? Hmm I don’t even know where we’re going but I’m not ganna ask.
“What will Amaimon do to me when we get there?”
“Don’t know.” Well that’s useful.
“Should I worry?” He eyed me as if I’m stupid.
“We’re talking about a man who went out searching for dead bodies, didn’t think twice to cut open a boy’s dead body and make zombies by replacing they’re organs. No, not at all.” He said, obviously sarcastic. I took a deep breath.
“How do you get so much money? You must do big business.”
“I do actually. I own an international bank.”
“Wow…that’s pretty big. Hey, where are you from?”
“Where am I from? Why do you ask?”
“Because now that I’m noticing, you seem rather noble when you talk about something important.” He eyed me as if I was a mass murdered.
“How’d you know? Yes 500 years ago I was born in England to a noble family but I was sure to lose the nobility and the accent over these years.” I raised my shoulders.
“I don’t know how I know, just a feeling.”
“I contacted Amaimon, he says he’ll be expecting you.”
“And for how long will I be staying there?”
“L-let’s just say you might not return to your home.” My jaw fell open.
“It’ll take the rest of my life for a few experiments and a check-up?” He shook his head.
“No, no. It’s just that…ok maybe yes. I’m not sure.” I sighed and stared out the window. The plane started to move. I only sighed and leaned back.
“I’m not going to enjoy this trip, am I?” I asked. He smirked and took out his laptop. He placed on glasses and started typing. He really must be busy; his eyes are glued to the screen. I sighed and leaned back and closed my eyes, it wouldn’t hurt to catch a few zzz’s. And that’s what I did; in no time at all I was caught by the darkness.
Slowly my eye lids slipped open were greeted by a bright light. It took a while before getting used to. Then my eyes widened by flashing red lights and the warning siren. I jumped up and looked all around. Ace wasn’t there and I started panicking. I fell onto the seat as the plane tilted to its side.
“What the hell is going one?!” I yelled. The door opened and Ace ran in with his bag with a worried face. “What’s happening?!” He ran to me and pulled me up.
“Shinigamis.” He said as he pulled down the hall.
“Shinigamis? Why?”
“They want you for research, they’re like Amaimon’s rivals so-“
“They steal the rival’s test subjects. Sick.” He pulled me to the door of the plane and forcefully pulled it open. “What are you doing?!” I asked. He smirked and pushed me out then after placing his bag on his back he also jumped out. I guess I didn’t sleep so long for I was immediately greeted by the sun burning my face as I fell. I pulled the hood over my face and looked down. I began to panic; we were falling at the speed of light towards buildings.
“We’re ganna die!” I yelled.
“You can’t die!” He yelled back at me. “But I might…”
“Then what do we do?!” I flipped that my back was the one falling down. I looked at Ace as he fell above me, I could see him biting his lower lip and sweat rolled down his head. His eyes widened as he remembered something. He held his hand before him and a white light appeared. His rod appeared and I could see the radiant ruby starting to glow. My eyes widened in shock. Two white long angel wings spawned out of the ruby. They started flapping and Ace positioned himself on it that he wouldn’t fall off. Feathers were everywhere. He leaned forward and flew towards me. I grabbed the end of the rod and pulled myself on. We leaned up wards and started flying up wards into the clouds.
“You a witch or something?” I asked, making him smirk. We stopped when we reached above the clouds. We could see the plane tilting towards the ocean and falling down. “Shouldn’t we help?”
“That plane is filled with shinigamis…and you expect me to help?! I think not! And…Amaimon and I knew that if we were to create a study for zombies that human sacrifices will be needed. Now we have to go, it won’t take them long before finding out that all the passengers on that plane are human. And if there are other supernatural on that plane, then I pray for their safety. Now let’s go.” The wings started flapping faster and we flew away from the plane. I can almost say that I just killed hundreds of lives. Eww, I just realized that I’m sitting on bones…
“Umm…these bones…human?” He giggled and shook his head which made me worry.
“Eww…what is it then?”
“They’re the bones of my late twin sister.” I was disgusted. Knowing you’re sitting on the bones of the person who brought you back to life’s twin sister. You may not think much about it, but if it may happen to you then you won’t feel pleasant.
“Change in plans?” He shook his head then looked back to see if we’re being followed.
“Nope. We’ll go to Amaimon as planned and be there first thing in the morning. If not then he’ll have my head.” I smiled and looked down. I’ve never been this high before. It was…refreshing, like all my troubles are being washed away by the cold breeze through my hair. Well I could imagine it, but if I take off my hoodie I’ll burn up and turn into ash. I didn’t expect to be brought back to life after I died; the thought never crossed my mind. And if I was brought back to life, I didn’t know that every second of my life I should watch out for a little light or else I’ll just die again. I sighed.
“How long was I out?”
“6 hours.” Sigh.
“So 13 more hours.” He shook his head.
“Nah. Make it 7, my rod is pretty fast and we’ll be taking a short cut so take an hour away, in 6 hours.” So we’ll be there at 10PM…this makes me even more worried that we’ll be there earlier.
“Hey, you think I’ll get phone reception up here?” He thought for a moment.
“Try it.” I took out my phone and dialled Sora’s number. I held it to my ear and heard the calling.
“Troid! Man I tried contacting you for a while now! I thought you were abducted by an alien or something!" I wasn’t about to tell him that Ace was really a necromancer and he kidnapped me and is currently taking me to his partner shinigami who will dissect me and possibly make me into a real zombie. If he fails then I might die for real or even spend the rest of my life with Amaimon.
“I thought I told you I’m going to my grandfather.”
“Oh yeahhh, ok sorry man. Why’d you call?”
“Just testing to make sure I can call from here.”
“Where are you?”
“I’m not even sure myself. But that’s all, talk to ya later.”
“K, adios.” I hung up and pushed my phone into my pocket.
“Sora?” He asked.
“Yup.”
“Does he know?”
“He learned this morning actually.”
“Then this must be the weirdest day of your live.”
“Yup.” He smirked but it quickly faded. This may sound weird but he ‘smirks’ a lot and it’s starting to get irritating. Ace stood up onto the flying rod and looked back. His face now had a worried expression and I looked back. Some sort of monster came flying our way. It had long black wings and a black body. It was bigger than any normal being and had a strange body shape. It was like a four legged animal but with human features but…clearly not human. It had razor sharp fangs and long tongue sticking out. IT had black fur all over and looked at me with hungry red eyes. Almost like a wolf.
“Is that…is that a shinigami?” I asked confusedly. I don’t know what creatures looks like anymore, but from a movie I’ve seen shinigami can look like human-animal creatures.
“No, that’s a yokai, more specifically okami. Meaning a wolf demon. Shinigami uses yokai as their pets, so I can only assume he’s sniffing us out.” A dog sniffing us out in the air, oh what have I gotten myself into?! “Let’s go!” The wings started flapping and leaned downwards. The wings stopped and we fell down at a high speed. My hoodie fell off and small pieces of my skin started to burn off. But because we’re going so fast and it isn’t as bright as what it was it only burned my cheek off, that’s it. “Hold on.” I gripped the bones harder, eww this I weird.” When we were about to hit a tall building the wings started flying again. We flew faster over the buildings to a countryside where trains ran. We flew over one, making me think of Harry Potter. He lowered us until we stood on top of the train. The wings grew back in then the rod disappeared. Ace bend down and opened the hatch on the roof. He jumped in and I followed after him.
“We’ll be staying here until I can confirm it’s safe to fly again.”
“Won’t anyone notice if two un-invited passengers boarded the train?”
“I made sure the train we board is crowded and in the direction of Amaimon.” Wow, to think this far ahead… “This may slow down our schedule so add two hours, 8 hours then.” I sighed.
“You can’t make up your mind!” I said as we entered the cargo. I went to sit on top of a box and Ace slid down the closed door.
“Ok…now this is the weirdest day of your life.” I nodded in agreement.
“So…wanna tell me how you became a necromancer?” He only smiled, I was expecting a smirk.
“There aren’t many necromancers in the world, because of a few facts. One of them is that you need an older sibling, possibly a twin, like me. You need to kill the older sibling in order to show that you’re the strongest of that family’s children, and it only works if you have an older sibling. If you are the eldest, you have no chance. The second thing is that you need the blood of a former necromancer in your veins, even if it’s only a bit from an ancestor. So supernatural or family’s without a necromancy ancestor have no chance. So this is why there’re such a small amount of necromancers in the world, most of them are older than 10,000 years because over the years ancestor blood also faded. So you can call me one of those lucky few. I don’t know if it works like this all the time but I was confronted by the elder necromancer and he told me of my special path that I must follow. He told me I could choose if I wanted to become a necromancer or not. I would’ve said no but I reconsidered when he told me the race was dying out. I had ancestor blood; I had an older twin sister. I had the will and courage to do it, no matter how you think it my destiny pointed in the direction of necromancy. So I accepted it, the only thing I didn’t like about it is killing my sister. I loved her more than anyone and it was hard, but I wanted necromancy more than anything. Any human can say they want something interesting in their lives, my version of interesting was a little bit…different. But before I acted I talked with my sister about it and she didn’t care, she told me the elder went to talk with her before he told me. She said he wouldn’t have come to me if she declined.” He fell silent and looked out the dusty window of the cargo.
“You killed her…” I said slowly. He shook his head.
“Well…not right after that of course. I was 12 at that time and because of my nobility I had studies and other important duties. If I were to abandon it all a riot might start. And don’t ask me how, nobility is a scary thing. So I waited until I was 18 and finished school before doing it. I remember everything…it was October 16, our birthday. It was 11:20 PM, after a surprise party thrown by our friends. It was on a mountain where every night the sun set beautifully there. There was a waterfall running down the mountain into a lake. It was Ana’s favourite place. I of course didn’t want to but I had too. With a bullet through her heart she died while falling with the waterfall, it was her decision to die that way. I stayed there until it was midnight, staring down the mountain at the lifeless body when it happened. I started having the worst chest pain and fell to the ground. My vision went blurry and when I could see clearly, a radiant shape ruby was in my hand. It was bigger than my hand and it glowed. Somehow I felt attached to it; it was my necromancy in the form of a gemstone. The form of the gemstones represents the soul of the necromancer. Then a light blinded me and next thing I saw was the elder standing above me, he held bones in his hands, confusing me. He told me everything there is to know of necromancers, my duty, that I’ve become immortal. Everything. He handed me the bones and told me to form a staff using my magic. I thought he was completely absurd and out of his mind. But I always knew that there was some type of magic in me. He said that forming the staff means that I’ve become a full-fledged necromancer. He said if I can’t do that, then I’ll just be an immortal human who murdered his sister, all for nothing. It took me four years to create it. By then my magic was strong and I was far beyond humanity. We never had a proper funeral for Ana because her body was never found. I lost all contact to my parents as well as my friends. When I formed my staff I could feel all power surge into me from the ground. It took me a while to realize it was the dead… What I regret as my stupidest moment ever is that only 6 years after I became a necromancer had I realized whose bones those were…” He sighed. “A noble son killing his own sister and becoming a necromancer, my parents must be proud.” He said sarcastically.
“They dead?” He looked at me as if I’m stupid, which I am.
“Nooooo, a human’s lifespan is about a 1000 years.” I wanted to slap myself badly.
“Well I can’t tell you how I became a zombie because for some reason you know the story better than me, so care to share?” He rolled his eyes.
“I already told you.”
“Yeah I know. I just wanted to say ‘care to share’.” He rolled his eyes and laid down onto the floor.
“You managed to sleep in the plane, wake me if anything happens, k?” I nodded. He closed his eyes and in minutes I could hear light snoring. I actually feel bad for him. He had to kill his one and only sister in order to protect a race that was going extinct. Then he couldn’t stay with his parents for long before they realized something was off about him that he didn’t change age, not to mention he finished school so he had to move out. Then he had to watch all of the people surrounding him die in what seemed to an immortal a mere second. He constantly had to travel the world to avoid suspicion of his age. He also had to change his name I presume. Wait…is Ace even his real name, or an alias? Hmm put that to list of questions to ask ‘Ace’ when he wakes up. That also includes how he met Amaimon, how they started research on zombies, why he would help a shinigami when it’s forbidden, and if he knows Amaimon’s story. Sigh. I leaned back on the box, starting to think of what might happened to me. I just know I’m going to regret my entire life tomorrow, I just know. The life starting when I walked at night through the streets, minutes away from my death, and minutes away from my undead life.
