Writing Task 1 (lesson 1)

Cả tuần bận bịu, đến hôm nay mới có thgian viết bài này. Mình giới thiệu sơ về Writing Task 1 (Academic) nhé:

Task 1 requires you to write at least 150 words to respond to a particular graph. There are five types of graph: Line graph, Bar chart, Pie chart, Table and Process (Diagram). You should spend no more than 20 minutes on this task.

When you do the Writing Task 1, you should follow these steps:

Step 1: Read and understand the task in 2 minutes.

Step 2: Plan what you are going to write within 5 minutes. You should make notes in this step.

Step 3: Write your anser on the Answer Sheet within 12-13 minutes.

Step 4: Check your writing .only if you have time left In fact, most of you do not have enough time to do this step. However, if you do, only check grammar and vocabulary.

Most of students have trouble with writing the introduction. Here are some phrases you can use to write your introduction:

The graph/table illustrates/reveals/represents/indicates ...

You should include your overview of the graph in the introduction too. Some students may write the overview of the information in the conclusion. I'm afraid that you do not have enough time to write your conclusion, so why don't you put it in the introduction? Following are some phrases to start your overview sentence:

It is clear form the graph that...

As can be seen from the graph, ...

As is shown by the graph,...

Note that you should not use personal pronouns in your writing task 1 and avoid using the phrase: 'according to the graph.
