Ever since Mark was a small child, he had these small scribbles that would appear on his body. Mostly his arms and his legs, but occasionally it could be his stomach or his face.

Growing up like this was tough. In elementary school, Mark was the only one who seemed to get these writings all over his skin. Other kids would tease and pick on him, being immature as kids could be.

Little did they know, that Mark was just getting a jump start on getting to know his soul mate.

Most parents didn't tell their children about the whole soul mate writing ordeal, much like how parents are with telling their children about 'the birds and the bees'. But Mark's parents told him from a young age. They thought it would be good for him to know, just incase things started happening. The writings usually started happening once you were an adult, but Mark seemed to have a rare soul mate on his hands.

Everyday Mark would wake up, seeing the new scribbles on his skin. They weren't anything special, just lines and dots and zig zags.

But as he got older, things started to change.

When Mark moved on to middle school, the lines evolved into words. In the middle of the school year, the first word appeared. It appeared on his wrist, reading the word–

HEY

–and that was it. He hadn't thought much of it. He had started wearing long sleeves to school most days, just so that the teasing would stop. But there were still some days that the words and scribbles would show up on a place that he couldn't cover, and those were his bad days.

It was a living hell. Mark despised the person who was writing on his skin, causing him so much pain and suffering through his childhood. But yet, he never responded to the person. He never took a pen to his skin.

During his second year of middle school, Mark saw more words appearing on his hands.

HEY, YOU!

He scoffed as he read it, mentally cursing and pulling his sleeve over his hand. Not very often was there words on his skin, mainly scribbles. But when the words came, it annoyed him.

He assumed that the person writing on his skin was a girl, since that's what happened to his mother and father. He thought it was just some annoying girl who was trying to get his attention.

This can't be my soul mate, he would often think to himself, they're nothing like me. They annoy me.

Days went on, and Mark turned into a high school student. A small, scrawny freshman who was completely independent. He didn't have many friends, due to the teasing and the scribbles. Many kids his age still didn't have the writings, only a few did. And those were always the ones who got picked on.

One day, before school, Mark was getting ready in front of the mirror. He watched as three words appeared across his cheek, reading–

WHO ARE YOU?

– in rugged handwriting. His eyes widened, just about ready to throw something as he knew today was going to be a bad day. He could already hear the upperclassmen laughing and pointing at the words on his cheek.

Mark grit his teeth, looking around his room for a few minutes before his found what he was looking for. He held a new red marker in his hand, popping the top of quickly and walking back to the mirror. He looked at himself, his blood boiling. He scribbled all over his face, watching it disappear as it transferred to his 'soul mate'. Furious, he rolled up his sleeve, writing across his arm–

LEAVE ME ALONE! I HATE YOU!

– and threw the marker on the floor. He watched as the words sunk into his skin, disappearing into nothing.

He couldn't say that he didn't feel bad. Of course he did, he was a good person. But, then again, he felt good too. He felt like a giant weight got lifted from his shoulders.

He trudged to school, the writing on his cheek disappearing. He smiled weakly, assuming that the other saw his writings and erased what he had put on his skin.

When he walked into his first period class, he saw a small text appear on his wrist–

Okay.
Goodbye.
