chapter two

Dear Harry,

My name is Draco Malfoy, and I am the one who received your letter over breakfast in the Great Hall at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. So, yes, your letter arrived to the right place. I know this is quite a few days late, as I contemplated whether writing to you would be worth it or not, but then I realized not all of us are prodigious students, and therefore extra credit might be necessary in your case.

You claimed in your letter that this is a "cultural project," and so it would seem your letter fell into the right hands, as I am full of culture.

I am a Malfoy, though I'm not sure if this means anything to you wizarding people in America. Here in the British Wizarding World, my surname is quite well-known, as we are very, very Pure-Blooded. The Malfoy name is rich and aristocratic, and has been members of the Slytherin House for generations at Hogwarts. My mother's maiden name was Black, and again this may be nothing to you, but the Black family is also a very powerful family in considerably the "bad house" of Hogwarts for reasons I will not go into.

Seriously, if you would like to know, perhaps pick up a book. Maybe that could make it so you wouldn't need extra credit as well.

I know nothing of the Potter name, however, so perhaps you'd like to enlighten me on your family?

I'd tell you more about myself, as I do think I'm quite interesting, but I in fact know nothing of you. Also, it is nearly time for "Potions," my favorite subject, and I mustn't be late. Do take care, Harry Potter.

P.S., Take notice that my handwriting is very legible, so perhaps you could learn something from that too.

Sincerely,
Draco L Malfoy
