She took a walk her mother's shoes,
Randomly one day, out of the blue.
Lots of tears were along the path,
But also some good things, like a few laughs.

She hiked a mile in her father's boots,
Realized that he had made mistakes, too.
Found the pride he had for her,
And all the love he hid in the dirt.

She stumbled along in her sister's heels,
Not everything she told her was actually real.
Discovered some worries that they had alike,
Promised herself she'd try not to fight.

She ran along in her brother's sneakers,
He lied when he said he wanted to meet her.
She cried when saw his innocence was gone,
But still she continued to walk on and on.
