As kids we played pretend
And dress up with all our friends
We put on dresses and high heels
And cooked ourselves fake meals

Now as teens we do the same
But alone because it's lame
We still wear dresses and high heels
Now we only eat fake meals

As kids we would read fairytales
Thinking that we'd never fail
But now as we are grown
We remember that and groan

As kids we watched TV
Thinking "Someday that will be me"
But now we hate the screen
Because society can be so mean

As kids we played outside
But now we'd rather hide
In the safety of our rooms
You can't save us from our doom

As kids we would fake cry
Then laugh when our friends asked why
But now it's flipped upside down
We fake smile and hide our frown

As kids we had so much fun
An adventure each day in the sun
But as teens all that is gone,
And everything feels all wrong.
