FOURTEEN. morp

PRANKING HAD never been in the cards for Raven, so she wouldn't participate in the senior prank against Mr. Moseby, but she would watch him fly high in the sky with balloons attached to his chair as he slept.

With the senior prank out of the way, it meant that prom was next and because London was capped with running for prom queen that meant that Bailey had a chance to win and she was gunning for first place.

It meant everything to now that her and Cody had gotten back together.

She had even placed her "vote for Bailey" poster on Ms. Tutweiller's map.

"Why do you care so much about this prom queen thing?" Raven asked, "Don't you want to have fun? Or is it just the crown for you?"

Bailey turned in her seat, "I see what you're doing."

"What?"

"Pretending you don't care about being prom queen when you really do." Bailey scoffed, "You obviously read that study on how false humility appeals to voters."

"The fact that you think that I would indulge in a political stance such a prom queen is very telling of you." Raven said.

"Oh you want to make this campaign about mudslinging? Because no one slings mud like me, sister. In fact one year that was literally my job on the farm."

"Okay, ladies." Ms. Tutweiller called, "We all care about prom. I mean, after all it's the one day a year I get to dress up and look pretty, pretending my life is still full of promise and opportunity."

London laughed, "You? Look pretty? Only if you mean pretty average for a badger-faced, broken-down cat lady."

"London, I feel like our banter has lost some of its playful subtlety."

Soon, the back door of the classroom opened and Mr. Moseby walked in, his clothes disheveled as he made his way further into the room.

"It might interest you to know that after you set me adrift, I was struck by lightning, forced to land by a military helicopter, and eventually rescued by a particularly loathsome baboon." He explained, "I'll spare you the rest of the details, because after that it got really nasty. Prom is canceled!"

"Please, Marion, prom is an institution." Ms. Tutweiller pleaded, "Don't deprive me, I mean them, of that."

"I didn't go to my prom. I ended up just fine." He exclaimed, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go wash the smell of baboon off of me."

The bell soon rang and the students began gathering their belongings and leaving the classroom.

"I can't believe we're not getting a prom." Raven muttered.

"It's okay." Zack reassured, "It's just a dance. I'm surprised that you even care."

"I don't, but it would've be nice." She smiled, turning towards him, "We could've slowed dance and who knows what could happen at the end of the night."

"We need to get prom back on!"

Cody furrowed his brows, "I thought you said prom was—"

"Zip it, Cody. Prom is an amazing, beautiful event that we need to have."

"Well, I agree, but Mr. Can't-take-a-joke has made up his mind." Ms. Tutweiller said.

"Hey, I have an idea. How about we have a secret prom?" Zack suggested, "Like what you said before about those talk-easies and probation and such?"

"Wow," Raven said, "that's the smartest thing he's ever said." She smiled, resting her head against his arm.

"And actually bears some resemblance to what I taught!"

And after a few days the secret prom was set and they would be given a code whenever Mr. Moseby would be close by.

And that moment was now. They gather whatever they could and shoved them in secret compartments and he soon entered the classroom.

"Hello, Marion." Ms. Tutweiller smiled.

"Emma. Wow. This is quite the turnout for a Friday night study session."

"Well, what can we say. Ms. Tutweiller really inspires us to learn."

He soon turned towards Woody who was trying to fix the globe that held the punch inside.

"What are you doing up there, Woody?"

"Uh, I was just trying to remember where the North Pole was." He explained, "Oh, look at that, right in the north."

"Something's going on here." Mr. Moseby said, "And I'm gonna get to the bottom of it."

He soon left, but opened the door once more.

"Still studying." Zack said.

And soon enough the dance was back on. But Mr. Moseby soon caught on to the act when he walked into the classroom.

"That's it. I want you all out this instant. And, Emma... You and I are through."

"Oh, but Marion..."

"I mean, professionally speaking. I'm clearly in no position to turn down a woman who's actually willing to date me." He said, "All right, everyone out!"

Raven leaned towards Zack whispering in his ear. He gave her a small nod before going a grabbing the microphone from Ms. Tutwiller's desk.

"Hey, seniors, we have the final tally, and the prom king is—"

"No. Prom is over." Mr. Moseby exclaimed.

"Marion Moseby."

"What?!" He smiled.

"What about queen?" Bailey asked, "Who won queen?"

"You voted me Prom King?"

"Of course." Zack answered, "Right guys?"

"We knew that you missed your prom and we wanted to surprise you." Raven added.

She grabbed the crown from the desk and placed it on his head.

"So, who's the prom queen?" He asked.

"Well, in a surprising twist, our prom queen is... Ms. Tutweiller."

"Oh, I finally have a crown that's not covered in hair and blood!"

With that, the dance went on without anymore problems... truly a night to remember.
