Chapter Five

Chapter Five

"So I'll see you in one hour," Julie said, slinging her bag over her left shoulder.

"Sure."

"Well thanks for helping me. Bye," she said, waving her right hand at me.

"It was no problem and bye," I said waving back. I watched her retreating form and turn around to go back to go back to my dorm. It turned out that Julie and I had a lot in common.

Not only did we have the same three lectures at the same time but we had the same hobbies except she wasn't afraid of heights instead she loved it. One of my initial fears of coming over here- so far from home was that I would be lonely. I was glad that to know that I had two people I could call friends here. I walked through the passages and climbed several stairs before I was standing in front of my dorm.

I put my hand in my black denim jeans to take out the keys but before I could take it out the door swung open for me to come face to face with Leon. I looked at him and saw that he had changed from the clothes he wore to the orientation. He must be getting ready to go to the party.

"Thanks," I said walking in. I turned around to see Leon staring at me with a thoughtful expression.

"Is this your hobby or something? Staring at people?" I said, giving him a small smile, trying to lighten the mood.

"No, sorry. I don't even realize I'm doing it." He said, muttering the last part. He shook his head and chewed on his lip for a few seconds as if he was contemplating something.

"Well, I'm just going to change now. I'll see later." I said when I realized that Leon wasn't going to say anything.

"Wait!" I stopped and turned around to see him staring at me with the same thoughtful expression as before.

"Do you want to grab a cup of coffee in let's say tomorrow?"

"That sounds great," I said, my heart beating wildly against my chest with sudden nervousness than I have ever felt before.

"Okay great. See you here in tomorrow same time then. He gave me a small smile, walked backward and turned around to walk towards the living room.

I went to my room and take a warm shower. As the water fell onto my body, I thought about what having coffee meant to him- did he just say that to be friends or was this his way of asking me out? I walked over to my closet and looked over my clothes. Since it was coffee, I assumed it was going to be casual. Two of my dresses caught my eye and I took them out the closet. One of them was a blue, short dress with a brown belt that went around my stomach.

While the other dress a black dress. The front part of the dress was short while the back part of the dress was long. It looked casual yet stylish.

I looked at the clock to see that I had half an hour to make my decision before I had to go. I walked to my bed and laid both the dresses next to each other. I walked back to where I was standing and stared at both of them and finally chose the black dress. I quickly wore my dress and put on some makeup on which consisted of eyeliner and dark shade of red lipstick.

I walked to the full-length mirror and stood in front of it to look at myself one more time. I heard a buzzing sound and went to my phone to read a message from Julie.

'I'm outside your room right now.'

'Coming' I message back putting on my black, two inches, heels. I pulled my door open to see Leon.

"Do I look that bad?" I ask worry lacing in my voice.

"Um- no you look pretty," Keith stutters.

"Very pretty," Jake corrects Keith making me blush.

I look at Leon to see if he says anything but all he does is stare at me with all too well-known look. When he doesn't say anything I feel a sudden wave of sadness wash over me but I quickly scolded myself for feeling sad and reminded myself I only knew this guy for two days.

Just as I open the door Leon speaks, "You look beautiful". My stomach flutters at his compliment. Even though it was only here words they had a much bigger effect than what the others had said.

"Well, I'll see you guys at the party," I say and walk to past them to go to see Julie. I open the door to see Julie looking bored as hell.

"Hey," I say making her head snap in my direction.

"Hi, you finally came. Do you kno- Whoa you look amazing!" Julie said making me blush.

"Thanks," I said walking over to her. My wavy hair flowing from side to side.

"You ready?" she asked as linked her hand through my mine.

I take a deep breath and nod. We go to the elevator and wait for it to take us down. When we reach the ground floor you could already hear the sound of music playing. Even though the party is far away people are still in the lobby chatting with each other.

"Where is this party anyway?" I asked as we maneuver our way through everybody.

"It's in the park outside"

"They are having a party by the forest?" I asked her.

"Yes," she says unsure of where I am going with this.

"What if people get lost or something?"

"Simple they won't," she said with a big smile on her face that held an I know something that you don't know.

"Well here we are," she said coming to a stop.

"Whoa," I said in amazement looking around at all the people and the decorations.

"From looking at your expression you weren't expecting this were you?" she asked me.

"No!" I said still in shock as we go further in.

"Well this university has the biggest orientation parties in the country," she shouted over the extremely loud music,

"Whoa," I say again.

"Ya whoa. There is something I want to do."

"What is that?" I shouted back to her.

"Get drunk as hell," she said a practically skipped to the bar. I followed behind her and sat beside her on the bar stools.

"I'll have 4 vodkas please"

"You sure do like vodka," I said.

"Oh I don't but I just feel like having it. I am having two and you are having the other two."

"I am?" I asked.

"You are," Julie said confirming it.

"Ok then. On the count of three," I said picking up one of them.

"One," Julie said.

"Two," I said.

"Three," we both said together and drink the whole thing.

"Oh my gosh," I said.

"That was awesome," Julie said happily and downed the second one too.

"Are you going to drink yours or shall I?" Julie asked me.

"Here," I said sliding my one to her.

"Your loss," Julie said and downed the glass immediately.

"Come on let us go dance," Julie said pulling me to the dance floor, "Come on it will be fun" she adds when I don't move.

"Fine but if I lose you in the crowd it's all on you," I tried to say but a smile came on my face. I let Julie pull me to the dance floor. After a lot of shoving from Julie and a lot of apologies from me, we finally reached the middle of the dance floor. We started to dance and I'm quite sure we looked like idiots. Both of hands were high and entwined above heads as we danced without a care in the world.

After what felt like hours of dancing we went to get drinks. This time I was the one shoving and Julie was doing the apologies.

"Finally," Julie breathed out wiping the sweat on her forehead.

"Why did you take us to the middle of the dance floor," I said trying to even out my breathing.

"You should be thanking me. I mean unless you like to be shoved around while you are dancing," Julie said making a point.

"Well then thank you," I said sarcastically and walk to the bar.

"Can I have a glass of water?" I asked the bartender sitting on the bar stool.

"You are so boring."

"How so?" I asked with my left eyebrow raised.

"You are at a party, and not any party but your first university party," she said cheerfully.

"Wait you mean there are more?" I asked her.

"Uh duh I thought everybody knew that," she replied back.

"Well apparently not me," I said to her drinking my glass of water fully, "I'm going to take a walk"

"Do you want me to come with you?" she asked looking at a group of boys.

"No I think I'm fine alone but thanks for asking. See you later. Hopefully," I added when I realized how big the party was.

"See ya," she says waving her hand like a soldier.

I walk toward the forest until I could only hear the faint sound of music. I looked around me to see that there was no one here except me. Ignoring the fact that I was wearing a dress with heals I sat down with my legs spread in front of me with my hands beside either side of my hips. I enjoyed the little bit of peace until I had it.

Suddenly I heard a rustle of leaves in the forest. I looked in that direction but saw nothing. I felt someone's stare on my back. I quickly turned around to see who it was but saw nothing. I was about to turn around when I felt a warm breath on my cheek.

"Oh darling Ashley you have grown up so much indeed," said the voice I thought I never would hear again. Fear coursed through my body. My heart started to beat faster from overwhelming fear and anxiety. Suddenly I couldn't breathe. I knew what these symptoms meant.

I had to do something before it got worse.

Knowing from past experiences that I couldn't run away from him I thought of the only other for calling for help. I screamed as loud as I could.
