It's raining
It's raining out. It's been raining since I got into bed and I can hear the raindrops hit my window. I try to cover myself with my blanket, but I'm still cold. My girlfriend had to work a little bit later at the cinema, but she should be home in a few minutes. It gives me time to think.
I came out when I was 17 to my parents. I should have known that they wouldn't accept me, because of how homophobic they are, even before they knew. They didn't kick me out, but I didn't want to live there anymore as they made my life difficult. My best friend let me move in with her and her parents. They were so kind to let me stay with them.
I was always in love with my best friend, and one night while we were watching a movie and she was braiding my hair, I couldn't take it anymore. It felt so good when her fingers brushed my neck, and all I wanted to do was kiss her. So that's what I did. I turned around and looked into her eyes for a moment. She didn't look confused as to why I randomly turned around in the middle of her braiding my hair, she just looked right back at me. I took her face into my hands and kissed her, and she kissed me right back, putting her hands on my waist. I had wanted to do this for years, but not knowing if she was gay or not stopped me. What changed now? I just couldn't handle it anymore and I was willing to ruin our friendship if it meant having a chance with her. As we pulled away, she smiled and bit her lip.
"It took you long enough." She has said. I smiled and leaned my forehead against hers. I didn't know what to say after that and I was grinning from happiness. I kissed her again and I had so much love for her, my best friend of 8 years.
"So does this mean we're..." I said.
She nodded. "I've wanted to be your girlfriend for so long now."
I moved my head onto her lap and looked up at her. "Oh you have no idea how much I've wanted this."
She smiled and leaned down and kissed me, playing with my medium length blue dyed hair.
My thoughts were interrupted by a pair of arms snaking around my waist.
"Hey girl."
I turn to face her, her beautiful smile, and her eyes looking at me as if I was the only person in the world.
"Hey." I wink at her, which I know drives her crazy. And it does. She bites her lip and goes in for a kiss, and we spend the rest of the night cuddling and being mushy and kissing. Her warmth makes me not cold anymore.
We've been together for almost 5 years now and living on our own for 4. She's been my true love for much longer than that. I'm so glad I took my chances with her that night when she was braiding my hair.
