December 25th
"Merry Christmas, Ly." Halia sat crisscross on the ground. The snow was cold and wet matching the chilly air.
"This used to be one your favorite holidays, wasn't it?" Halia said to the tombstone.
"I'm sorry about last time. I hope you can forgive me. I'm just scared. You understand, don't you?" Halia asked.
"Your sister should be here soon. She wanted to visit you on Christmas too. Jamie misses you a lot." Halia told the empty air.
The cemetery gate creaked. A brunette girl in her early twenties, only a couple years younger than Halia, entered the winter graveyard. Her green eyes seemed to lack a light that they once had.
Halia tried to smile for the girl but she couldn't quite create a realistic one. Jamie plastered her own plastic smile across her face, one that mirrored the smiles of the broken when they said they were fine.
"See, Ly, I told you Jamie was coming." Halia sniffled. A gloved hand wiped away cold tears from her ice blue eyes.
"Hi, Halia. Hey, big bro." Jamie sat down on the ground next to Halia. "I miss you. I miss you so much. I'm helping Dr. Poe with a cure for your disease. They actually are planning on naming it after you. Isn't that nice?" Jamie let out a small, pitiful laugh. "I hope it's nice wherever you are, Heaven or not. I hope you don't miss us as bad as we miss you because if you do then you must be hurting awfully badly."
Cold, salty tears started to stream down the younger girl's face.
"I'm sorry, Ly! I told myself that I wasn't going to be a downer today. We don't need that kind of attitude right now. I'm sorry." Jamie rested her head in the palms of her hands.
Halia looked softly to Jamie King and pulled her into a one armed hug.
"Lysander, we know that you don't want us to grieve forever. We're trying to move on. We really are. We just miss you."
'I'm the one who should be sorry. I didn't want to leave you. I'm sorry to put you through this.' Halia knew he would've said.
"We're going to say strong. Don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault. It was life's." Halia said to the air as Jamie cried into her shoulder. "And we just need to except that."
The Lysander Halia imaged was standing there smiled sadly at his two favorite girls.
"Merry Christmas, Ly."
