~< CHAPTER 1 >~

I stay silent. Arms raised above my head by metal shackles tied tightly to a tree, my ankles tied together. My swords in a chest off to the left beside their campfire and other looted goods. They'd make a good work of my potions and crowns. Selling my trophies would prove to get a little more coin too..

I could still hear the sound of blood dripping from my elbows and upper arms, I could feel it rolling down my legs, taste the rotting rope in my mouth. I hated this. I hated feeling weak with a fiery passion, and They stole my stuff!

They've violated me over and over again. I was left in rags. The torn shreds of what was left of my shirt and pants were scattered around. I had tried to escape many times, but they always had a way to catch me, I was one of the most feared killers in the world, yet these measly bandits had managed to capture me and were torturing me for fun. I had almost given up on escaping, excepting my fate, I was too weak, to hungry and thirsty to fight back if I did get out. They had starved me almost to death in the time they had me here. They were out right now, only a few of them were guarding their little outpost.

Stupid thugs overran a village in the remote land of Velen, an old man had given me a job to go kill them both.. As you can see I'm rather. Well, stuck. I needed to get out of here quickly, don't want to die so soon.

---

Geralt arrived at a village, filled with people trying to survive the dreaded war, the village itself wasn't as big as most. It was out in the middle of nowhere, yet somehow he had found himself there.

Dismounting Roach, Geralt walked over to the message board and looked over it for any contracts or jobs to do, a little more coin would be good for the trip to Vizima.

Looking over it he spotted a contract to kill a pack of Drowners that was terrorising the fishermen's family and threatening the fish stock. Taking hold of it he placed it in his pocket and sighed, another easy job, he didn't mind it though, an easy job once and while kept things interesting, and nowadays no one had too hard of a job apart from the occasional werewolf or Wyvren, he had seen a few other monsters here and there but otherwise nothing to overly difficult to slay was around. The use of Witcher's was skyrocketing with all the monsters around, and so was the amount of jobs to do, Today he could pick out what contracts he wanted to complete.

As he turned to Roach, an elderly man came up to him, he looked like anyone else in the village, sick and poor. The old man had been eyeing Geralt from afar, not knowing what to do, however the man obviously wanted to talk to the Witcher.
"Yes?" He asked, the elderly man jumped at the sudden speech but nonetheless smiled happily.
"I-I'm sorry to interrupt ye Sir Witcher, but.. There's a bandit camp to the south of 'ere..." Geralt looked at the man, were bandits worth his time? He would get extra loot, maybe a few more weapons to test out. He could always put some extra practise to his sign use as well.
"Alright, I need more information, how many were there? What's the terrain like?"
"Around 20 men.." The old man said softly, "the area's like a forest but they've set up in a abandoned village to the south. I'll be sure to reward you greatly!" The man added quickly, catching Geralt's attention. Nodding his head the Witcher turned to his horse, ready to leave.

Before he mounted up, the old man approached him again. Careful not to go too close. "oh! If Ye see a woman there please thank 'er for her attempts"
"A woman?" Geralt asked, the old man nodded
"I hired 'er a few days back to help me with the bandits but she hasn't came back, I'm a little worried 'bout 'er" the old man admitted, looking down sadly "I'm afraid the bandits got to 'her" Geralt smiled understandingly. Maybe this woman was a dear friend of this man? He'd have to find out.

"What does the woman look like?"
"I didn't see her face, she had a hood on, but two large swords, like those on yer back. She wore black pants and a white shirt, she sounded like a angel!" The Witcher nodded his head, taking in the information.
"I'll make sure to take care of the bandits and see the woman is alright" he said. The old man thanked Geralt gratefully.

Mounting Roach Geralt began to long ride to his destination, patting Roach's neck the experienced Witcher paused his travels for a moment, he had a bad feeling about this, like something was going to happen. What was he getting himself into?

---

I bit down on the rope and grunt as they slice my already bleeding arms, their swords now stained with my blood. They stood there laughing their heads off and drinking themselves stupid. Growling to myself I glare at the one closest to me, he was young, but obviously disheveled and drunk.
"OI! Lookin here men! We got her attention, you hoping for a 'nother round with the little Serick!?" The man taunted, unbuttoning his pants as he did so, bottle in hand as he chugged away getting ready to stuff his mangled and utterly pathetic junk into my body. This was not going to happen again. I was going to make sure of that.

While wriggling around, which somehow seduced the drunkard lunatic, I managed to wriggle and ankle free from the rope bounding my ankles and slam my foot into his junk. The man dropped to his knees instantly and groaned in pain, dropping his unsheathed weapon onto the ground. This was my chance! Using my foot, I reach over and somehow place the ball of my foot onto the sword. And began dragging the small dagger towards me. Good, now to somehow get it above me. I looked up, there was no other way but flinging it up and hoping I could catch it without injuring myself more.

Fortunately all the other men were all to drunk to even notice me trying to escape. Balancing the knife on my boot, I sigh deeply and ready myself, flipping the knife up I catch it with my right hand and sigh in relief, most of the time Its flinged to far or it cut into my skin! Thank god it worked this time!

Twisting the small knife in my grip I begin to cut away at the rope that tied me to the tree. Hearing it snap and cringe slightly as my arms are finally let loose from their upright position, my muscles ached from being pulled up for so long. Leaning down slowly I cut the rope from my ankles and slowly begin to move away, that was until one of them spotted me.

"SHES ESCAPING! THE BITCH IS LEAVING GET HER MEN!!" The head honcho shouted. In the Spurr of the Moment, I didn't have any time to gather my stuff. I was too weak to stand up to 20 men with swords and bows. Reaching up I clutched my necklace tightly before letting it go as I sprint away from that camp.

I'll have to come back and get my stuff back. I need to tell that old man I didn't do the job. Hopefully he didn't ditch on the reward either, I'll come back and ruin these men's lives with my swords. Then they'll be sorry for messing with me, Sprinting forward I grab a saddled horse by the reins and jump on, commanding it forward, it ran with me. Blood dripping from my wounds, bound to leave a trail.

What were they going to do? the group wouldn't waste precious energy or time to find me, they'd just find another poor soul to torture for the fun.. I felt bad for the next person who stepped into that camp. But for now? I needed to get away and find somewhere to stay the night.

---

Geralt approached the now frantic camp, the men were all shouting curses saying how their prize got away, it intrigued Geralt to know what they were talking about. he approached them silently, listening in to their conversations.
"That bitch! How dare she steal my best mare! It took five days for me to steal that horse!" The head thug shouted at his men, "no point in going after her! She'll die of blood lost or to the Ghouls by nightfall!" Geralt watched. "Still, my! was she a beauty! And her screams! Ah~ like music!"
"And the way her cunt felt! You guys'll be jealous when I tell ye how she screamed for Mercy of begged for it not to happen" another commented making the whole group laugh. Geralt felt sick to the stomach listening to the men mutter about how good of a woman they had found and captured. Standing up Geralt took out his steel sword and readied himself as he walked into the camp..
"Take pity on your wretched souls" Geralt commented loud enough for them to hear, the men quickly began to shout. Weapons at the ready to get another person to torture
"Bastard monster hunter! Let's catch him and tie 'im up! He'll make a fine play thing!" The honcho shouted ordering his men to attack the White Wolf of Rivia.

But they were bested. They were nothing against Geralt with his swords, even without them he could of easily attacked them and win. The head of the camp was now on the ground, missing an arm that now laid dead still on the ground right beside him. Blood oozing from the fresh wound.
"Wait!!!! Please!!! Don't kill me!! I have a wife and kids to fend for!!" He shouted the normal Pitiful words of a coward as Geralt stabbed his bloodied sword into the bandit's heart. Waiting for the man to stop moving completely Geralt raised his sword and flicked it to the side, flicking off the blood of the vile monster before him.

Now to find traces of the woman he was tracking, using his Witcher senses he observed the area until he spotted a tree with cut ropes around it, there was a mess of things around that one tree.. Which lead him to suspect the worse.

Kneeling down onto the ground he looked over the splattered blood?

..Injured..

The ropes tied around the tree?

..tied up..

Shreds of clothes?

..possibly raped or toyed with..

Man laid now dead on the floor, still clutching his junk?

..attacked and managed to avoid getting raped again, possible way of getting out..

A gag?

..to keep her quiet when she was torture and raped..

Geralt stood back up and look around a little more, looking over the chests and other stolen packages for anything that may of belonged to the mystery woman. Spotting an open chest Geralt moved closer to it. he looked over its contents until he came to few potions, oils, bombs and two swords; a steel and silver! Along with amour. Who was this woman? Taking the equipment he took out the silver sword, engraved on it were the Greek words όταν τα λαγοί εγκαταλείπουν, οι λύκοι κυνηγούν, meaning 'When Hares Flee, Wolves Hunt' a stunning design if he did say himself, sheathing sword he looked around for any more traces of her. Where could she have gone?

The tracks weren't too far away, he could see the obvious limp in her step just from the foot steps. The woman was obviously in pain, weak even. Blood had been splattered along her trail, without any weapons she wasn't able to defend herself. Glancing back at the dead thug near the tree, Geralt now spotted something, approaching the dead man, the Witcher flipped the body over, now he knew why the man was dead. Looking over the small dagger stabbed into the man's chest was enough to tell, That the woman he was tracking knew how to fight somewhat "smart kid. Using the knife to cut the ropes at her wrists and using it to escape" he said aloud to himself, gazing over the hints and things that would help him find her. She also smelled, there was a certain scent that lingered in the air around where she had been, now the young Witcher had not only a blood trail and tracks, but a scent to follow as well.

He stopped before the gate to village. Taking in the woman's scent letting it be engraved in his mind so he wouldn't miss it when searching for her. The old man would be happy if Geralt came back with a alive woman and a good report of what had happened, everything was already bad enough, the country didn't need any more poor souls dying for people's murderous intent.

Looking along the ground some more, he spotted foot prints and fresh blood splattered on the ground, she ran to the west and he wasn't too far behind her, maybe a couple hours at the least. The prints lead towards the stable, where hoof prints continued going in the same direction. "She must of taken the horse the man was taking about. Quickest and easiest way to get out without fighting. Smart girl"

He'd have to follow the tracks on foot, though she could be long gone by now, whistling for Roach he mounted his horse and began the slow ride, following the hoof prints. Hopeful to find this woman before she died of blood loss or to the monsters lurking in the area.

----

I grit my teeth and clench the reins of the horse tightly, my wounds burning. Trying to keep the horse calm. I tried so desperately to avoid the annoying Drowners, though so of the weakest monsters out here, they are deadly when you were attacked without weapons.. It was working, that was until one was shot in the head with an arrow. With sudden adrenaline I looked back shocked to see guards running towards me, arrows held high right at the Drowners, though they didn't appear to care about me, hell I cared about them! God damnit! I ditched the horses hitting on the back to get it to run off pretending to be scared. I needed to get out of here. Thinking quickly I dive into the water and stay under. Big mistake.

Feeling the shackles pull me down with thier weight it got painfully obviously I shouldn't of dove into the water. Trying to hoist myself up I could only just reach the water's surface. Feeling my lungs burn from the lack of oxygen I push myself up and get a good gasp for air before forcing myself down just as a guard looked over the edge of the bridge above. That was way too close

Guards are people I couldn't deal with, the amount of run in's I've had that ended badly were too many to count, stupid Nilfgaardians are too cocky for their own good. Too entitled. To proud and superior for the likes of the common folk.

Now I was loosing breath again. Ahh the gods hear my plea. Please save me from this utter hell and bring me to something good for once! I was just able to surface before the shackles pulled me down again, the stupid things seemed to be getting heavier as fatigue slowly gripped me. I need to calm down, stay still until the guards were gone, hearing their shouts fade from me side of the bridge I ready myself.

Stay silent, I feel my feet hit the bank and push off as hard as I could, giving myself a good few seconds to breathe and lay on my back, I slowly begin to make my way underneath the bridges where a small shore was, propping myself up onto the shore I cough harshly, covering my mouth in order to avoid getting caught.

To keep it simple the Nilfgaardians hate me. They hate that I apparently cause trouble and make their people unhappy. The guards at least hate me, i don't really care about the nobles. They can go and stuff themselves for all I care, the war will destroy the world anyway.

I was loosing way to much blood this time, it was starting to get to me now. I needed to patch myself up if I was too live. I knew that. My clothes weren't enough to keep myself warm, or to wrap my wounds me all my things were in my bag which is still at the camp. All my weapons and potions too. I was utterly helpless beside the use of my fists. If it had been any other time I would defended myself. But being in such a weak state I had to run, I couldn't risk my life any longer.

Then, a thought then came to mind, maybe if I.. No. Bad idea, I'll drown the shackles proved that. But I need to wrap my wounds.. sighing deeply I get up and walk carefully into the water, looking for something like a chest or a lost cargo box, which I did, it was just in front of me, going under the water, I open it and find an old worn dress in their. Yes!

Surfacing I Brought the dress up from the waters now it was soaked, but it was better then nothing. Ripping it into thick enough strips I began to wrap up my wounds, my arms and legs needed the most, I was shocked at how I could walk after I had lost so much blood. Must be strong then.

Removing what remained of my shirt I left it on the bank beside me and began to somewhat wraps up the wounds that littered my torso, including the large gash a werewolf took out of me the first day I was in that blasted blood bath.

surprisingly the group managed to kill it. But not after it dug its claws into my shoulder and ripped the skin, just missing my neck. Stuffing more cloth on my shoulder I wrapped it up tightly to stop the blood and put my makeshift shirt back on.

The salt in the water made my wounds sting, but it was enough to keep them from bleeding as much. My whole body was sore, aching badly, my body becoming weaker and weaker as time went on.

I waited for the guards to go and jumped up and ran for the woods. Just off the main path, I had no idea where I was heading, but it had to be somewhere, if I was right there would be a village just to the north of where I was. Hopefully I'm right... I need to be.. I'll die out here..

---

Geralt approached a band of Nilfgaardian guards. They were quarrelling about something useless. The horse tracks stopped just before the bridge. Looking around he spotted a mare grazing, approaching it quiet he looked over it, there was blood on the saddle, a few droplets on its back. The mare looked exhausted, obviously ridden hard, where would that woman of gone now? He still had no idea who he was looking for, let alone if she was a human or not, could be and elf. The thought made him shiver in distaste but the blood had only a tint of magic In it, a sorceress or human was more then like then an elf.

Moving forward Geralt observed the area, Drowners were infesting the place, did she die? Scouting the area he questioned the guards about the woman, they had no idea what he was talking about. No leads.

Using his Witcher senses again he spotted faded footprints on the bridge but they stopped on the right side, did she jump? Walking out onto the bank he looked around spotting another spot covered in blood, though not as much. Climbing underneath the bridge he looked over the blood and what seemed to remain of a dress? "She used an old dress to dress her wounds" looking around he spotted footprints moving away from the river and out into the woods. Good, she's alive. And following the path. Getting up on the path Geralt called Roach and got one ready to find this mystery woman.

---

I arrived at my destination, the Inn at the crossroads. Thanks god I knew where it was. My body ached from the walking, had almost collapsed multiple times, almost attacked by a wolf half way there. Luckily I managed to get away before being mauled. Now? A whole pack of them is stalking me, waiting for me to fall down dead on the side of the road.

I had nothing but the shackles, no weapons, no map, no nothing, not even money. I couldn't even buy food or drink for myself, let alone a place to stay the night. What was I going to do?

It was quiet night tonight, nothing but a cool summer breeze, the faint shouts of men in the tavern, the distant howls of the wolves. It was almost peaceful apart from all the blood and pain I had. Turning back I sigh to myself, may as well go where it's warm.

Entering the inn the whole room went quiet, some men giving me suggestive looks, ignored them, I've had enough of men looking at me like that. Let alone dealing with anyone's bullshit today, all I want to do is sleep, to rest, to eat. To stay away from bandits.

Walking to the very back of the tavern. I sit down at a lone table and lean against a wall beside me. Hood still up I stroke my arms slightly, still feeling pain I grimace at the thought of being helped. I needed to gather enough strength to get back there and get my stuff. Stupid bandits, stupid everything, stupid shackles. Arrhgghhh I hate feeling weak! It's disowning! Stop! You need to keep calm, being angry isn't gonna solve anything..

Closing my eyes slightly I take a deep breath and try to relax, but couldn't. Not after what happened and getting those looks? I could sleep even if I wanted too. Hearing the chair before me creak I opened my eyes and looked up, closing my eyes agin I try to ignore his presence, my head now resting against my arm against the wall.
"Hello young lady! Would you like to play Gwent?" He asked cheerfully. Obviously not noticing my situation and appearance.
"Don't have any money sorry" I say simply, eyes still closed, I couldn't be bothered playing a childish game with him.. He didn't seem to take no as an answer though.
"What about if You and I play, the winner will get whatever they want" I open my eyes and look at him, he was pampered beyond belief. Give him a skeptically look but nod my head reluctantly, what did I have to loose.
"Fine" I say. "But no sexual shit" i added. He nods his head respectively and we begin.

He was good to say the least, i won the game somehow, maybe my tired and deprived self is good at Gwent. The man looked a little disappointed but kept his part of the bargain.
"What would you like? Anything is yours" I smirk
"A room up top. To sleep in for the night" I say, he nods a wide grin on his face
"Inn-keep! Give this fine young woman a room upstairs!" He shouted "on me!" The inn-keep nodded and walked over to me, giving me the key I smile in thanks, though they could see it cause of my hood.
"Thank you" I say. I bid my farewells to the Gwent player and climb upstairs, though it was way more painful then I thought it would be. I managed to get up there and open the door, laying on the bed I look around

There was a closet. Good? And a nice bed. The room was lit by candles. God it was good enough for me even if it was just a spare room the inn-keep had. At least I could get a good nights sleep. Feeling a little better and warm!

---

Geralt approached the inn at the crossroads and dismounted Roach, tying Roach to a pole just outside of the Inn. Geralt entered the building and looked over the people drinking and enjoying themselves.

He gazed at them all individually, the women a little longer to see if there was any wounds. trying to find a woman that was wounded, the dress she used was green, so someone with ripped clothes, green Bandages. That was what he had been going on. Sighing softly he looked around waiting for someone to talk about her, no one did, meaning he'd have to ask around, he approached the innkeep.

"Did you see a woman come in recently?" He asked, the Inn-keep looked at him,
"I see many women come though here every day to drink their sorrows away" Geralt grimaced.
"Did any of them have wounds? Converted in green cloth? Ripped clothes?" The inn-keep thought for a moment,
"I did, I gave her a room upstairs, she looked like she was having trouble getting up there though" Geralt nodded his head,
"Thank you" leaving the inn-keep be, Geralt looked around for this room, seeing stairs he climbed them quickly, spotting small drops of blood on the floor he knew he was going the right way.

Approaching a door he knocked on it softly,
"Hello?" He spoke up, hearing a pain filled groan Geralt stepped back. Waiting for it to be answered.
"What" the door never opened, a woman's voice came from the other side. Good.
"Are you alright. A elderly man from the next town over tasked me in taking care of bandits in an abandoned village. Said there was a woman there that had gone only a few days earlier and hadn't come back" he explained himself. "I've tracked her to this room" the door then opened. And sure enough there she was.

Her arms and legs clad in now bloodstained green cloth, her clothing was ripped she was covered in bruises. And smaller cuts that she had left alone. Sighing softly the woman before him winced slightly as she moved her arms in front of her, her wrists bound together by metal shackles. He almost felt bad for the poor woman.
