Chapter Seven
It took me a few minutes but I soon came to the realization that I didn't care about this world. Being here would only cause me problems so I made a plan to leave. I knew neither Kieran or Roman would let me go easily which left me to find a way out myself.
Step 1: Find clothes. After the attack, I had been completely undressed with the exception of my underwear and a gauze wrap around my chest to my stomach with addition bandages on my shoulder, neck, and hip.
Someone was waiting outside my room when I opened the door and I decided to trust him. "Someone, do you know a place where I can get clothes? Somewhere no one will see us?" I asked. He replied in his own way which was running down the hall, forcing me to chase after him. He brought me to a room on a different floor and I ordered him to guard the door as I went inside the room.
The moment the door was closed I started to search for clothes. I went to the closet first and was surprised to see old fashioned dresses and suits hung with care. "These bring back memories..." I mumbled to myself as I ran my hand over a lace corset dress. I let my hand fall as I turned towards the dresser. I had done my time wearing those painful dresses and I would only wear it as a last resort. Plus, without someone to help me, putting on a corset dress would be next to impossible.
Just like the closet, most of the drawers were filled with old fashion clothes; these ones were plainer. I was losing hope until I got to the bottom drawer and I grinned. "Hello beautiful," I whispered to the modern styled clothes. I knew I was running out of time and I could hear my heart pounding in my ears; the risk of being caught was starting to get to me. I struggled my way into blue jeans, not caring that they were too tight. I was in a rush and I didn't want to imagine what would happen if someone noticed I had left. My back started to throb and I knew I had broken the scab on my back.
I grabbed a loose fitting shirt and ripped the bottom half to reduce irritation to my lower back. A few inches of my bandages showed, something which would draw attention to myself. I heard scratching on the door and I knew my time was up. I kicked the drawer shut and sprinted back to the closet to grab a something to cover myself with. I threw on the dark grey cloak and pulled up the hood as I opened the door.
Someone stepped back from the door as I opened it and I could hear voices heading our way. "Do you know where the portal is?" I asked him as I glanced nervously down the hall, my muscles tensing as I prepared to run. Someone whimpered and I took that as a no, "Take me to town, we can worry about getting to the portal once we're out of here."
I heard footsteps getting closer and I looked back to Someone worried. His eyes flicked down the corridor before he took off running in the opposite direction. I sprinted after him, hair standing up on the back of my neck and I knew we were seconds away from Kieran finding us.
Thankfully it never came to that. Someone had us around the corner and heading down a stairwell which lead to a door. Getting out from the castle wall was a bit more challenge. We relied heavily on sprinting, hiding behind bushes, and simply praying we made it.
We did. The city just beyond the castle walls was colourful and lively. It reminded me of Amsterdam with vibrant and oddly shaped buildings, and water running through the streets. The streets were made from cobblestone giving it the same old-world feeling that the old fashion clothing did.
It was like I had stepped back in time to my human days, that is if earth had mythical beings which walked around openly. Few people looked human; some of it was subtle differences like pointed ears, elongated noses, or inhuman coloured eyes. Other differences were noticeable like those who were under 4ft or over 7ft tall, those who looked more like gargoyles, animals, had wings, horn, and much more. It was like a beautiful free range zoo.
My pace slowed down to a walk and when a gust of wind blew down my hood I didn't bother to fix it, instead just used my hair elastic around my wrist to tie my hair back. Someone walked beside me and I glanced down at him with a smile. "Is this your home?" I asked gently, his head jerked to the one side; I assumed that was a no. "Shame, it is beautiful... Maybe one day we will come back, one day when it is my choice to be here. Now let's find somebody who looks like they'd know where a portal would be."
Chapter 7? Time for a jailbreak! What do you think is going to happen to Someone and Tasnia as they walk freely in the world of the Fae?
