Chapter 8

The school was closed the day after the League of Villains attacked the USJ. When morning came around, Eva went to her window to find Izuku's window slamming open.

"Something on your mind?" asked Eva as Izuku climbed over to her window, still in his PJs like her.

"Yesterday," said Izuku getting into her room. "You snapped that Nomu's arm like a twig, and the kick."

"What about them?" asked Eva as she sat on the chair at her desk.

"Since when could you do that?" asked Izuku pulling out his notebook. "I've known you for quite a long time and have never seen you use that amount of strength."

"I've always been pretty strong," said Eva. "Supernatural strength." Izuku looked up at her. "I'll explain." Izuku smiled enthusiastically, after talking to Izuku for a good hour, he went home and Eva went out to spend time with her dad and siblings.

Eva was in the Otherworld, she sat on a lilypad, and her dad kneeled behind her, he was carefully examining the damage to her wing. Dios was using magic to peep at a window store tv to watch the news report from yesterday.

"I heard you were quite the fighter from your teachers," her dad said. "Only 3 days in and your hero's progress is already going well."

"It seems I don't have to worry about you so much," said Kozu sitting on a flower above them, he was making a fae weapon.

"It comes at a cost," Eva said looking at him. "I can't risk having my wings broken, I'm not Izuku who goes around getting his bones broken all the time." Her dad laughed. "Daddy."

"You both have a similar drive to become heroes," Her dad said. "Every broken body part can lead to you working harder to make sure it doesn't happen again...as for your wings. Each time one breaks a stronger one forms. Making them harder to break the next time you get into a fight like that." She looked back at them.

"They are going to be a bit uneven," Eva said, as she grabbed onto one of the wings, she pulled on one, and pieces came off her eyes went wide.

Her dad tapped her shoulder." You have nothing to worry about, you are going to be alright. Your wings will be whole again. Plus, as you know we go through a shedding stage with our wings four times a year."

"Which is coming up soon," said Kozu. "Make sure to keep an eye on your calendar and be more conscious of your body during this time."

"Has this drawn you closer to making a decision?" asked Dios.

Eva made a face. "I'm just having a hard time picking one."

Dios laughed. "Nobody said anything about picking one little sister." Eva smiled at him, then looked back at her reflection in the water.

"Has this ever happened to any of you?" Eva asked. "Your wings breaking?"

"Multiple times," Her dad nodded. "I recall it happening while on a date with your mother--."

*****

That night, back in the human world, Eva sat in her room doing homework when her window was slammed up. She looked up to see Bakugo climbing in through the window.

"Isn't it past your bedtime?" Eva asked, crossing her arms, Bakugo looked at her with rage.

"I thought only one broke," Katsuki said as he stared at another piece on the bed.

"This one just broke today, late after effect," Eva answered as she turned back to her homework. "My dad says it's going to be alright."

"That was reckless of you to go into it like that," Katsuki stated as he picked up the broken piece. "You could've gotten way worse than a few broken wings."

"I learned from it," Eva said. "My recklessness didn't go to waste."

"You aren't getting it," Katsuki grunted. "There could have been repeats from when we were younger, and if you died it would have been my fault."

"How so?" Eva asked. "It was my actions."

"And it was me who convinced you to try out UA in the first place," Katsuki said. "Just be more careful...promise." Eva nodded. "Look at me, dammit!" She looked over at him.

"I promise," Eva breathed, she's never seen him that serious.

"Why do you want to be a pro hero?" Katsuki asked as he looked over her shoulder.

"It has to do a lot with what happened when I was 7," Eva answered as she turned back to her homework."  If I become a pro, I'll be able to protect other fairies more, including my village, my dad, and siblings."

"I'll fight for that as well," Katsuki grunted as he sat on her bed. "I'm going to be a number one hero and a protector of fairies." Eva looked back at him. " You need to work on your speed."

"As soon as my wings grow back fully," Eva said. "I'm going to do some maneuver work till then." He looked at her confused. "If I asked nicely, I'm pretty sure Izuku will let me borrow his kite." He smiled as Eva stood up, she thought to the day before. She then pulled Katsuki into a tight hug. She did feel fear with what happened yesterday, Katsuki let his wall down hugging her back happily.  Eva looked back at her homework. "Since you are here."

Katsuki pulled back and picked the paper up from her desk. "What exactly is troubling you?" At that moment, the door opened, and they looked to see Dios.

"Don't mind me," said Dios. "Just being annoying and checking on you two. Hello, Bakugo." He then walked away.

"He's been bugging me about a few fae things," said Eva. "I'll decide when it comes closer." She then pointed to the problem she's having trouble on. Katsuki happily helped her.

****

The next day rolled around, and Eva's wing was almost getting back to normal.

"You guys!" Hagakure chimed. "Did you watch the news last night?"

"Yeah," Ojiro nodded.

"It was so cool that we got a few seconds of screen time!" Hagaruke gleamed. "Thought I bet nobody noticed me hanging out in the background."

"Probably not," Shoji agreed.

"It is difficult to stand out when you're just gloves," Ojiro said, trying to cover over Shoji's blunt response.

"We're totally big deals," Kaminari smiled as he leaned back. "Those news channels love us--we're basically celebrities."

"Yeah, it's kind of crazy, right?" Kirishima agreed.

"Get over yourselves," Jiro ordered. "The hero course that pumps put pros was attacked, and that's what they care about."

"Who knows what would happen to us if the teachers hadn't shown up," Sero said leaning on the desk.

"Why'd you say that?!" Mineta demanded in tears. "I'm gonna pee myself just thinking about it."

"Oh, shut up!" Bakugo exploded making Izuku and Mineta tremble. "Grow a pair, loser!"

"Yuki," Todoroki breathed, she looked back at them. "I suspect, you were looking for this." He held up the part of the wing that had gotten broken off.

"Thanks," Eva breathed uneasily as Momo helped pass it to her. They both stared at her. "What?"

"Are you going to reattach it?" Momo asked.

"Not possible," Eva denied. "My wings will regenerate as that bird brain did with his limbs." Momo put her hand over her mouth, as Todoroki stared at his hands.

"Speaking of which. Did you guys see All Might fighting the bird guy?" Sato asked punching the air. "That dude was super strong and he still destroyed him!"

"Yes," Tokoyami nodded. "His strength is truly a thing of wonder. "

"Attention!" Iida yelled as he bolted to the front of the class. "Homeroom class is about to begin! Everyone stop talking and take your seats."

"Uh, we are all sitting," Kirishima revealed.

"Yeah, you're the only one standing," Sero pointed out.

"Dang it," Iida grunted as he sat in his seat.

"Don't sweat it," Urakaka gave two peace signs.

"Hey, Tsu," Mina greeted, leaning back in her chair. "So..." Tsu pushed her chair up to prevent her from falling even more. "Who do ya think's gonna teach class today?

"No idea," Tsu answered. "Mr. Aizawa's still in the hospital recovering from his injuries." The door scraped open.

"Morning class." They looked over to see Mr. Aizawa covered in bandages.

"Mr. Aizawa, what are you doing here?" Everyone demanded.

"Whoa!" Kaminari gasped. "What a pro."

"Mr. Aizawa, I'm glad you're okay," Iida said raising his hand.

"You call that okay?" Urakaka asked.

"Are you sure you should be here today?" Eva asked. "You seem--"

"My well-being is irrelevant," Mr. Aizawa said as he made his way to the podium. "What's more important is that your fight isn't over yet."

"Our fight?" Bakugo asked.

"Don't tell me--" Izuku began.

"Not more bad guys!" Mineta trembled.

"The UA Sports Festival is about to start," Aizawa revealed.

"Yes!" Kirishima cheered.

"Ugh! Why would you scare us like that?" Everyone else demanded.

"Let's go kick some ass!" Kirishima encouraged.

"Wait, a second," Kaminari stated as he put a hand over Kirishima's face.

"Is it really such a good idea to hold the sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" Jiro asked.

"They could attack once we're all in the same place," Ojiro pointed out.

"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever. Plus they're beefing up security compared to past years. This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains."

"Uh, I'm sorry, but why not?" Mineta asked. "It's just a sports festival."

"It's bigger than that," Eva said looking at him. "It's filled with opportunity."

"Mineta, don't you know how important this competition is?" Izuku asked.

"Of course I do!"Mineta answered. "I just don't wanna get murdered."

"Our festival is one of the most-watched events in the entire world. In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic games. But then Quirks started appearing. Now the Olympics have drastically been reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA sports festival."

"That's right," Momo confirmed. "And top heroes everywhere will be watching. This where you get scouted."

"Sure, unless you're dead," Mineta said.

"She's right," Kaminari gleamed. "After graduating, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick."

"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go," Jiro said bluntly. "They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks." She looked at him. "Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kind of dumb." He twitched.

"It's true that joining a famous hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity," Aizawa confirmed. "That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open a path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival. That means you better not slack off on your training."

"Yes, sir!" Everyone responded.

"Yuki," Aizawa said. "It's been agreed among the staff until your wings are fully grown back, you might not be able to participate, it's for your safety."

"Understandble," Eva sighed.

"Class is dismissed," Aizawa stated. The school bell chimed, Cementoss left their class, it was now time for lunch.

"That villain stuff sucked, sure, but I'm pumped for these games!" Kirishima gleamed.

"We put on a good show, and we're basically on the roads to bein' pros!" Sero cheered.

"Yeah, this is why I'm even here in the first place," Sato said, punching his fist.

"We get so few chances," Tokoyami stated. "We have to make the most of this."

"Oh, man, Ojiro, I'm getting kind of nervous about the festival," Hagakure admitted. "I have to come up with a way to get noticed!"

"Oh, sure," Ojiro said.

"Maybe a cheer!" Hagakure selected.

"Maybe you should be looking for a shinier costume or something?" Ojiro suggested. "Otherwise, you're gonna have to try really hard."

"My, what's a boy to do?" Aoyama asked. "I stand out even when I'm standing still. That means the scouts won't be able to take their eyes off me!" Koda seemed nervous about the approach. "Don't you agree?" He nodded.

"You're so lucky, Shoji and Yuki," Kaminari sighed. "People are bound to notice your unique quirks."

"Sure, but what matters is that I show them how useful I can be," Shoji said, Eva nodded in agreement.

"No doubt you'll make a scene, too," Jiro snickered. Kaminari growled.

"This is gonna be nuts," Izuku said. "Everyone's so excited."

"Well, yeah, of course, we are!" Iida confirmed as he danced. "We enrolled at this school with the sole aim to become heroes. So naturally, we're all getting fired up."

"Wow, Iida, those are some interesting moves," Tsu commented. "Ribbit."

"You have to be excited, too, right, Midoriya?" Iida asked.

"Well, yeah, of course, I am!" Izuku confirmed. "And also nervous."

"Deku! Iida! Yuki!" Ochaho said darkly. They looked over at her, their eyes went wide. "Let's do our best in the sports festival."

"Urakaka, what happened to your face?" Izuku asked.

"Looks like you found your inner Katuski," Eva commented; he growled at her.

"Seriously? What's up? You're normally like the most laid-back girl ever," Mina added.

"PMS?" Mineta asked, Tsu immediately smacked him with her tongue.

Urakaka took a stance, putting a fist in the air. "Everyone! I'm gonna do my best!

"Yeah!" a few of them cheered, putting their fists in the air.

"I said, I'm gonna do my best!" Urakaka shouted at more classmates.

"Got it," Kirishima responded slowly, he slowly put his fist in the air with the others.

"Uhhh..." Sato breathed.

"You okay?" Kirishima asked. "You kind look like you're losin' it." They soon started to make their way down to the cafeteria. Eva was with Iida, Urakaka, and Izuku, she was holding on to Urakaka to not fall. She can run and fly well, but something about walking comes with difficulties for her.

"Hey, Urakaka?" Izuku greeted.

"What's up?" Urakaka asked.

"Why did you decide to come to UA?" Izuku asked. "What made you wanna be a pro hero?"

"Oh--" Urakaka gasped. "Well...Because..."

"For the money?" Eva repeated. "You wanna be a hero so you can get rich?"

"If we're cutting to the chase, then, yeah," Urakaka confirmed as she played with her hair. "I'm sorry if that sounds greedy. You three have such admirable motivations. I hope you don't think less of me now."

"Not at all!" Iida denied. "Your goal is to support your well-being, which is a perfectly admirable ambition to have."

"Mm-hm," Izuku confirmed. "It's just kinda surprising."

Urakaka sighed. "Well, you see, my family owns a construction company, but we haven't gotten any work lately, so we're flat broke. Anyway, this isn't really something I usually tell other people."

"Construction, eh?" Iida repeated.

Izuku gasped. "If she got licensed, I bet she could use her Quirk to bring costs down a lot."

"And they could sell their heavy-lifting equipment," Eva added.

"She could float everything!" Iida added.

"I know, right!" Urakaka threw out finger guns. "I've been telling Dad that since I was a kid! But---" She clenched the fabric on her skirt. "I'm gonna become a pro. I'll sign with a good agency and make plenty of money. Then I'll be able to let my parents have an easy life!" The other three gasped.

"That's beautiful!" Iida clapped. "So noble! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!"

They then heard the sound of All Might laughing. "Young Midoriya is here!"

"Whoa, All Might! What are you doing here?" Izuku asked.

"Lunch! Ya wanna eat with me?" All Might asked, he pulled out a lunch box.

"That's adorable!" Ochacho and Eva exploded.

"Whaddaya say?" All Might asked. He looked at the others, and they nodded.

"Sure thing!" Izuku agreed, going over to their teacher.

"You guys go on ahead without me as well," Eva said going over to the wall.

"Are you not hungry?" Iida asked.

"I'm going to go see Recovery Girl," Eva answered. "If I wanna participate, I gotta make sure my wings are whole as soon as possible."

"Splendid idea!" Urakaka lit up. Eva made her way slowly down the hall.

"There you are!" a voice said. "I was just going to go find you." She looked down to see Recovery Girl.

"Ma'am," Eva greeted. "I was just on my way to you about...about my wings."

"I know," Recovery Girl laughed. "I suspect you want to participate as much as the other students. Medicine for fairies is not something I make often due to rare encounters, highly difficult." Eva stared at her. "Luckily, I am an expert." She held up a peez like a pen. "Take one of these a day, and it will help speed up the process."

"Thank you, Ma'am," Eva lit up as she took it with two hands.

"May I take a piece of your broken wing?" Recovery Girl asked as she put her hands together. "I can put it towards my next vacation!"

"Of course," Eva nodded; she broke another piece off. "Since it is a gold color, it will sell for a much bigger price."

"Thank you, dear" Recovery Girl smiled more, and she took her wing. "Must get back to the office before your Midoriya shows up again." Eva turned to go back to the cafeteria; she was got a quarter way there when Katsuki stepped into view, he stared at her then held up his arm. Eva happily grabbed on to it, they proceeded to the lunch room together.

"What you think of the festival?" asked Eva.

Katsuki smiled. "I'm going to be number one champion."

"I don't doubt it," said Eva. "I will be rooting for you."

"You will be competing," assured Katsuki eyeing students passing by, they were giving them looks. "I want to aim for the top."

"Oh--But I just want to get noticed," said Eva.

Katsuki darted his eyes to her. "Don't be stupid by holding back. Everyone is going to be giving it their all and so will you." Eva nodded. He looked back at her wings to inspect.

Once they got back to class, Katsuki went to his seat while Todoroki motioned for her.

"Hm?" Eva asked walking over.

"What do you know about Midoriya's relationship with All Might?" Todorki asked.

"Student-teacher relationship," Eva answered. "Why do you want to know?" Todoroki grunted angrily.

"Don't worry about it," Todoroki grunted more.

****
They were all now trying to leave class when the door opened, and a bunch of students were gathered outside of it.

"U-Um, why the heck are you all here?" Urakaka asked.

"Do you students have some sort of business with our class?" Iida asked.

"Why are you blocking our doorway?" Mineta asked. "I won't let you hold us, hostage!"

"They're scouting out the competition, idiots," Bakugo explained as he walked over to the door. Izuku and Eva tried to calm a panic Mineta, he was pointing at Bakugo."We're the class that survived a real villain attack. They want to see us with your own eyes."

"Let's just hope he doesn't explode anybody," Izuku prayed.

"At least now you know what a future pro looks like," Bakugo said to the people at the door. "Now move it extras."

"You can't walk around calling people extras just because you don't know who they are!" Iida scolded, as Urakaka, Izuku, and Eva trembled behind him.

"So this is class 1-A," a familiar voice said, Eva watched a familiar face push his way up to the front. "I've heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass. Is everyone in the hero course delusional, or just you?" Everyone shook their heads as Bakugo growled. "How sad to come here and find a bunch of ego-maniacs." He opened his eyes. "I wanted to be in the hero course, but like many others here, I was forced to choose a different track. Such is life. I didn't cut it the first time around, but I have another chance." Eva slowly walked over to the door. "If any of us do well in the sports festival, the teachers can decide to transfer us to the hero course. And they'll have to transfer people out to make room." The class gasped. He looked at the class by the seats. "Maybe some of my peers are, but I'm here to let you know that, if you don't bring your very best, I'll steal your spot right from under you. Consider this declaration of war."

"Where did this guy even come from?" Iida, Urakaka, and Izuku asked.

"Shinso," Eva breathed.

He looked down at her; he became surprised. "Yuki? I didn't know you were in this class."

"How do you know this loser?" Katsuki asked as he got between the two.

"Please don't go around calling people losers," Eva sweated as she tapped him. "Shinso helped me out the other day during the mob."

Bakugo looked at her, then back at Shinso. "If you steal a spot from someone that is injured, I'm going to blast your ass out of this school."

"Kacchan!" Izuku panicked. "I think that's enough threats for the day!" The whole class nodded in agreement.

"Hey, you!" a voice greeted. "I'm from Class 1-B next door to you! We heard you fought some villains, and I came to see if that was true! But you're just a bunch of brats who think you're better than us!"

'Crap everyone hates our class now!' everyone panicked.

"Talk all you want!" Testsutesu allowed. "It'll just be more embarrassing when you're KO'd." Bakugo started to make his way through the crowd. "Don't you ignore me!"

"Dude, where are you going?" Kirishima demanded. "You gotta say something. It's your fault they're all hating on us, Bakugo."

"These people don't matter," Bakugo said looking back at his class.

"Huh?" Kirishima asked.

"The only thing that's important is that I beat them," Bakugo said looking at the crowd.

"Hey, I'm comin' for you!" Tesutesu shouted as Bakugo walked away.

"I hate that, that was such a manly exit," Kirshima growled.

"Huh?" Kaminari asked.

"You said it," Sato confirmed.

"We have to beat them, he wasn't wrong," Tokoymai said.

"Yeah, sure, but this sucks!" Kaminari shouted. "He made us everyone's enemies."

"Yeah, that's right!" Mineta backed him up. "All of these students will be gunning for us in the festival now!"

"Eva!" they heard Bakugo shout. "Let's go home."

"Coming!" She responded. The crowd looked at her. "Please let me through." Shinso took a step back, everyone did the same to give her a pathway. "Thank you."

Everyone spent the next two weeks training intensely. At the start, Eva was on a large kite, having help from her dad and siblings, they flew through some strong winds in the park, and Eva did her best to maneuver her way through them. She even did some practice in the Otherworld.

**

Eva was sitting on a cloud cross legged, eyes on a girl whoms bodied seemed to be composed of fog. An aura; a wind nymph. The girl had light blue hair, and white eyes, almost as if she was blind. She wore a grey dress.

"Lou, If you could be so kind and produce some wind for me," said Eva. "It would be of great help."

"Is it for the human world?" asked Lou.

"I want to give it my all," answered Eva. "It seems I have let wind over take rather than be one with it." She poured tea into a cup. "Much widsom is to be gained from you."

Lou clapped her hands together. "Perhaps we should go to Aeolian Islands."

"No, that is alright," denied Eva slippng a tea cup over. "I feel much better getting help from a friend, what can I do for you in return?"

Lou picked up her tea cup, she took a couple of sips giving it deep thought.

"Evalina...I want another one of those comic books from the human world."

Comic books that Izuku and Katsuki got her hooked on.

***

By the end of the first week, Eva's wings had finally grown back. When that happened, she worked on her quirk along with her flying speed. She was now able to get from Shizuoka to Hosu in five minutes. She also spent time in the school's gym getting her body stronger. Since her wings broke, she went through an early shedding stage, she had to go to Ms. Midoriya for help on the spots she couldn't reach.

**

In the Midoriya's home, Eva sat on the toliet backwards as Inko carefully removed the dead wing skin.

"How is school going, Eva?" asked Inko. "Izuku says you are doing just fine, but I want to hear more from you."

"It is much different than middle school," said Eva. "More people." Inko laughed dropping pieces into a bucket.

"Have you made any new friends?" asked Inko grabbing a lotiion bottle signaling she was done. She squeezed some on to her hand, then proceeded it rub it into Eva's back.

"It is a slow start," admitted Eva. "People here are friendlier than middle school." There was a knock at the open door, the looked to see Izuku with a weight in his hand.

"Son, can you go grab something to grind the wings?" asked Inko.

Izuku smiled. "Sure thing, mom."

**

Soon it was the morning of the sports festival. Eva was preparing to leave the house. Within that same period, Eva had to report to Lady Magda, she went with combat with Great Pa Go, more potions with Lady Circe, and Chlorokinesis with Lady Demeter, they constructed a very specific schedule.

**Flashback

Eva was in the fae world doing tasks for spring such as transferring pollen.

"Evalina," said a voice, it was Lady Magda, a dark red dragon that lived in the village with many others. "What have you decided on?"

"Huh?"

"For continuing our studies," said Lady Madga crossing her arms. "Just because you graduated with flying colors does not excuse from more learning."

"I am in high school," said Eva facing the giant fire lizard.

"Here!" snapped Lady Magda. "What will you do here?"

Eva tilted her head giving last thoughts, what could help her with hero.

"I want to do more combat training with Great Pa Go...potions with Lady Circe."

"So, you will be going to island of Aeaea," noted Lady Magda.

"I want to study under Lady Demeter too, Cholorkineses," said Eva. "I figure it will help with the hero path."

"Mt. Olympus," smiled Lady Magda. "You will be making Lady Peresphone jealous you are not choosing anything in the Underworld."

"Perhaps I will consider it further in time," said Eva. "I do enjoy the Underworld, but for now these are my choices."

"Very well."

**

Back in the apartment

"Please be careful," Dios requested.

"Kill them!" cheered Kozu pounding his fist with a giant smile.

"Will do," Eva responded.

"Don't let anything happen to your wings again," her dad said. "Thanks to Recovery Girl, you can participate in this, so make sure to thank her."

"Always do," Eva said. "She took a piece of the broken wing, wanting to add it towards her next vacation." He started laughing.

"We will be over at Midoriya's watching," her dad said. "It will be recorded in HD."

"You aren't at the park today?" Eva asked in surprise.

"Of course not!" Her dad gleamed. "This is your first UA sports festival as a participant! We couldn't miss this!" With a bye, Eva stepped out just as Izuku stepped out.

He lit up once he saw her. "Ready?"

"Whatever happens, nothing personal," Eva said.

"Friendly competition!" Izuku gave a thumbs-up with a smile. "Out of curiosity, how fast can you fly now?"

"I'm not sure if I should show you just quite yet," Eva said. "Don't wanna give you any advanced planning."

"You know me too well," Izuku lowered his head; he sweated a little. "We are leaving the house a bit late."

"I'm going to regret this," Eva lowered her head; she grabbed him by the shirt, and immediately took off, they arrived at the school about thirty seconds after leaving the house, once she set him down. He was on his hands covering his mouth, trying to not throw up. "Well?"

"Weren't your wings just broken?" Izuku asked looking up.

"I borrowed your kite for a reason," Eva brought up tilting her head. "Sorry about breaking it, All Might said it would be no problem getting a new one, on the house."

"You broke it!" Izuku exclaimed.

"A windstorm was a bit too strong," Eva explained nervously. Lou may have gotten carried away. "Sorry about that."

"Never apologize," Bakugo grunted walking past them. "Especially not to Deku." He then entered the building without another word. Izuku and Eva looked at each other with weak smiles.

"Will I get my kite back?" asked Izuku.

"It's...no," answered Eva. "I took it into the Otherworld...on a cloud." Izuku playfully shook his head. Soon everyone was in the changing room, they had their regular school sports uniform,

"Aw, man," Mina groaned. "I was totally hoping I would get to wear my costume."

"At least everyone'll be in uniforms," Ojiro pointed out. "That'll keep things fair, right?"

"I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round," Sato wondered.

"No matter what they've prepared, we must persevere," Tokoyami encouraged.

"Right," Shoji agreed.

"Everyone!" Iida shouted as he opened the door. "Get your game faces on! We're entering the arena soon!"

"Swallow your fear, swallow your fear, swallow your fear," Mineta repeated as everyone took a big breath.

"Yuki, your wings seem shinier than usual," Hagakure commented.

"Thanks?" Eva tilted her head. "They went through an early shedding stage since they broke."

"So what's in the duffle bag?" Jiro asked.

"Fairy wing dust sell for a lot, especially grounded up," Eva answered. "I was going to give it to the business management classes."

"How much do they sell?" Urakaka asked appearing next to her suddenly with money in her eyes. "Is your family rich as well?"

"No," Eva admitted with a sweat. "Most of the money my family makes from the wings goes towards preserving nature and wildlife organizations."

"So thoughtful!" Ochacho cooed with hearts in her eyes.

"Midoriya," a voice said, they all looked over at Todoroki.

"Hey, Todoroki. What's up?" Izuku greeted. Everyone looked over at the two.

"From an objective standpoint, I think it's fairly clear that I'm stronger than you," Todoroki said abruptly.

"Uh-Um, yeah," Izuku answered, lowering his head.

"However you've got All Might in your corner, helping your corner out," Todoroki brought up. "I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two. But know that I will beat you."

"What's with all these declarations of war lately?" Kaminari asked.

"Yeah, what's the big deal?" Kirishima asked walking over, he put a hand on Todoroki's shoulder. "Why are you pickin' a fight all of a sudden? And right before we get started."

"We are not here to be each other's friends," Todoroki said shoving Kirishima's hand off, he made his way out. "Don't forget. This isn't a team effort."

"Wait a sec, Todoroki," Izuku called out. "I don't know what's going through your head or why you think you'd need to tell me that you'll beat me. And, yeah, of course, you're better than me. In fact, you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course. That's why you got in so easily."

"Midoriya, maybe you are being a little hard on yourself, and us," Kirishima tried to keep things cheery.

"No, he's right, you guys," Izuku stuck with his words. "All the other courses--they're coming for us with everything they've got. We're all gonna have to fight to stand out. And I'll be aiming for the top, too."

"Fine," Todoroki grunted.

After what went down in the waiting room, they started to make their way out; Eva was able to quickly find the management classes.

"Uh, hey," Eva greeted walking over to them. "The business management classes right?"

"If you are here to bribe us," a student began.

"Oh, nothing like that," Eva said holding up a duffle bag. "I went through an early shedding stage with my wings and thought your class would have fun selling--" One of them took the bag and opened it, and their eyes went wide. "Make sure the money goes somewhere good."

"No promises!" the students responded altogether. "Thank you for this product! It's rare!"

"We'll take you for some barbecue!" a student said.

"No thanks," Eva denied. "I'm a vegetarian."

"Eva!" Katsuki shouted. Eva waved bye, before fluttering back over to her class. They walked out onto the field with Present Mic announcing them.

"Hey!" Present Mic greeted, and the crowd went wild. "Make some noise, all you rapid sports fans! Get those cameras prepped, media hordes! This year we're bringing you some of the hottest performances in sports festival history, guaranteed! I've only got one question before we start this show: Are you ready? Let me hear you scream as our students make their way to the future stage!" Class 1-A stepped onto the field, it was way bigger in person. "Welcome back to the UA Sports Festival! Where up-and-coming heroes leave everything on the field as they fight for the chance to achieve worldwide fame and celebrity! This first group is no stranger to the spotlight! You know them withstanding a villain attack--the dazzling students lighting up your TVs with solid-gold skills. The hero course students of Class 1-A!"

"Uh...I didn't know there'd be so many people," Izuku sweated.

"Even more with the amount watching from somewhere else," Eva commented. She had no doubt that her village and kingdom were watching.

"I hope we're still able to give our best performances even though all these eyes are watching us," Iida said. "I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero we all have to learn to get used to."

"Present Mic sure did talk us up a lot," Kirishima noted. "Kinda makes me nervous. How you feelin', man?"

"I'm not worried," Bakugo smirked "Makes me wanna win this thing even more."

"They hadn't been getting nearly as much screentime, but this next group is still chock full of talent!" Present Mic announced. "Welcome hero course Class 1-B! Next up, general studies classes C, D, and E! Support classes F, G, and H! And finally, business classes I, J, and K! Give it up for all of UA's first-year contestants!" On a stage in front of them stood Midnight, she seemed more excited than anyone. She was even more thrilled with the mic in front of her.

"Now, the introductory speech!" Midnight said.

"This year's chief empire for the first years is the R-Rated Hero, Midnight!' a man said as the crowd gushed over the teacher.

"Amazing." Someone commented.

"Seriously, the other years don't know what they're missing," another commented.

"Uh, someone should talk to Ms. Midnight about what she's wearing," Kirishima blushed.

"Yeah," Kaminari agreed. "That costume should come with a warning."

"Is that really appropriate apparel for a high school game?" Tokoyami asked. Mineta gave a thumbs up.

"Silence, everyone!" Midnight ordered. "And for the student pledge, we have Katsuki Bakugo!" They looked at him in surprise.

"Uh...He's the first-year rep?" Izuku asked as they watched Katuski go up on the stage.

"I guess that hot-head did finish first in the entrance exams," Sero recalled.

"Only for the hero course exams," a girl sighed.

"Oh, right," Eva breathed.

"That girl obviously hates us," Sero groaned.

"Yeah, and we've got Bakugo to thank for them not liking our class," Kaminari groaned.

Everyone was silent, waiting to hear what the first-year rep had to say. "I just wanna say...I'm gonna win."

"I knew he'd say something like that!" Class 1-A exploded. All the other first-years booed at them.

"What he'd say!?"

"Class 1-A is so full of themselves."

"Get him off the stage!"

"Why would you be so disrespectful!?" Iida demanded angrily; his arm was going crazy. "You're representing us all!

"Not my fault the rest of you are just stepping stones to my victory," Katsuki said looking back at them, he put his thumbs down.

"I'm gonna crush this overconfident jerk!" Tetsutetsu threatened. "I can't wait to knock 'im down a size!" Everyone yelled at him as he got off the stage, Iida was going into a frenzy; he shoved pasted Izuku without a second thought. Izuku and Eva looked at each other and sighed. The sign above changed to the first game.

"Without further ado, it's time for us to get started!" Midnight cheered.

"UA really doesn't believe in letting us catch a break, huh?" Urakaka asked.

"This is where you begin feeling the pain!" Midnight exclaimed. "The first fateful game of the festival!" The billboard spun through options. "What could it be?" It stopped on the Obstacle race. "Ta-dah!"

"So it's gonna be an obstacle course," Izuku noted.

"I hope it's challenging," Eva said as she put her hands together.

"All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest," Midnight announced. "The track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium. I don't wanna restrain anyone, at least in this game." She licked her lips. "As long as you don't leave the course, you're free to do whatever your heart desires. Now then, take your places, contestants."
