Chapter 40
The school festival was now fully over and November was coming to an end. Eva was now in the teacher's building; she was sitting on the couch with Eri and Nejire. The two older girls were putting Eri's hair into pigtails.
"Eri's coming to live at UA," Aizawa revealed to the others.
"I thought it'd be forever till I saw her again!" Izuku lit up.
Kirishima knelt in front of them. "Hey."
"I'm so glad you're here," Urakaka smiled as she leaned over a little.
"Welcome home," Tsu greeted from behind. "You remind me of my little sister. You're cute like her."
Eri looked back. "Gee, thank you so much!"
"How is this even possible?" Izuku asked.
"We couldn't make her stay at the hospital forever," Aizawa explained; he pointed outside. All the teens but Neijre went outside. "From what we know, Eri was abandoned by her parents. We know the head of Shie Hassaikai is her blood relative, but he's been in a coma for quite a while. She has nowhere else to go."
"That's not all," Mirio continued. "Mr. Aizawa may have mentioned this already. The docs have figured out that the horn on her head is where her Quirk is released from."
"Yeah," Kirshima breathed. "He said it's gotten smaller, so it should be fine."
"That is true," Eva nodded.
"But it's slowly starting to get bigger again," Mirio added.
"Meaning, in order to keep an eye on her power..." Urakaka began.
"Exactly," Aizawa confirmed. "So, that's why we're going to let her live here instead of putting her into the system. I was already having Yuki look after Eri at the hospital; this will make it easier for both of them. We'll set up a room for her in the teacher's dorm. Hopefully, she'll be happy and we can help her find a way to harness her tremendous power. This is only our first step though. Clearly, it's a long road."
"Sounds like it's gonna be a lot of work for you both," Tsu noted.
"That's where I come in!" Mirio exclaimed; raising his hand. "I'm on a temp leave from school right now and I'm super buddy-buddy with our little Eri, so I'm helpin' out. I know you guys are majorly busy. But I'm hoping you'll stop by and say hi?"
"Of course, we will!" Eva, Izuku, and Kirishima assured.
Amajicki put a hand on Mirio's shoulder. "If Eri's Quirk becomes useable and she learns how to control it, then I bet we'll have our invincible man back in no time."
Mirio put his hands behind his head. "Man, that'd be awesome, right? Guess we'll see though!"
"Sorry to be asking for help already, but can you get her settled in?" Aizawa asked.
"Roger, sir!" Mirio agreed. "We'll play some board games!"
"Do you mind if we join you?" Izuku asked.
"Please?" Eva requested as she put her hands together.
"I do," Aizawa said. "Go back to the dorms." They looked at him. "You have visitors. They'll be here soon." They all started to go back to the dorms. "Yuki." Eva flew back over to them; Aizawa held up a list. "After your visitors, I want you to go to Fukuoka to pick up a few things for Eri."
"I can do that," Eva smiled as she took the list. They all returned to their dorms; Eva was with Iida; going over directions and distance from UA to Fukuoka.
"I want to know when you arrive and when you leave," Iida said. "Don't go engaging in any trouble if there is any. Wait till a pro arrives." There was a sneeze, they looked over at Tokoyami.
"Uh-oh!" Urakaka chimed. "I hope you're not sick!"
"I'm quite well," Tokoyami assured. "My mucus membranes are clearly doing their job."
"Uh, what?" Urakaka asked.
"Or someone's talkin' about you!" Kaminari implicated. "Maybe you've got fans! Like the ones who showed for Yaoyorozu at the concert?"
"Don't you make fun of them, Kaminari," Yaoyorozu scolded. "I'm lucky to have them."
"Tokoyami's probably had fans for a while now," Urakaka said. "He did his work-study with Hawks, so I bet he's got some street cred."
"No," Tokoyami denied. "Likely not. Everything moved too fast there."
"That doesn't mean you didn't catch the eye of bystanders," Eva said. "Even if things moved too fast, you still probably caught the eyes of people who think you're cute or curious about you."
"Cute?" Tokoyami repeated in alarm. There was a knock at the door.
"Our guests have arrived," Iida noted. "Let's welcome them!" They were greeted by the Pussy Cats and Kota.
"Your feline fantasies are here," Mandalay greeted.
"Allow us to lend a helping paw!" Ragdoll greeted.
"We're champions serving up justice," Tiger greeted.
"Purfectly cute, catlike heroes!" Pixie-Bob greeted.
"We're the Wild, Wild Pussycats!" the group said all together.
"How unexpected!" Iida smiled. "Glad to see you." Everyone ran over in excitement.
"It seems our little kittens are doing well," Pixie-Bob noted.
Tiger looked at Bakugo. "I couldn't protect you back then. I apologize."
"I already forgot about that," Bakugo said as he looked away.
"We're all doing pretty good, right?" said Jiro.
"Paw pad buns!" Hagakure, Urakaka, Ashido, and Eva cheered. "They brought us paw pad buns!"
"Make yourself at home," Shoji insisted.
"No, thank you," Mandalay denied. "But we can't stay long."
"We need to visit Class B, too," Tiger informed.
Izuku suddenly appeared in front of Kota, shaking his hand. "Ohmigosh, Kota! I'm so happy to see you! Thank you for your heartfelt letter! I'll treasure it forever!"
Kota looked away as Eva fluttered over. "Yeah. Sure."
"Do his shoes look familiar?" Mandalay asked; they looked over to see a small pair of red shoes. "Kota picked them out himself. He specifically asked for red."
"It seems you have a fan, Izuku," Eva smiled.
Kota flailed his arms in embarrassment. "Ahhh! It's not what you think!"
"Awesome!" Izuku smiled more. "We match!" Kota gave a smile.
"It's great to see you, but why are you here?" Sato asked as he walked over with tea."
"Just to let you know, we're back in business," Pixie-Bob answered.
"Seriously?" Iida asked.
"Congratulations!" Yaoyorozu lit up. "That's wonderful!"
"Are you back at work again, too, Ragdoll?" Eva asked.
"I know you took time odd when your Quirk was stolen, so..." Izuku wondered.
Ragdoll raised her hand. "Still powerless!" She pretended to be typing. "I'll be working behind the scenes to support the other three in the field. Call me the office cat."
"We received a report from Tartarus prison recently," said Pixie-Bob. She told them the information about All For One. "The thing is, they still don't know how many powers he has. He could be hiding some dangerous Quirks. Which unfortunately means the smartest way to contain him is not to let him use any abilities."
Yaoyorozu stepped forward. "So why choose this moment to go back into action?"
"This will be announced later, but...It's our spot on the Japanese Hero Billboard Chart," Mandalay answered. "You see, we're ranked 411 this time."
"Wow, last time, you guys came in at number 32," Izuku recalled.
"So it's cause your rank went down," Kirshima gathered. "That makes sense."
"No, silly!" Ragdoll quickly denied. "Isn't it weird that we're still in the triple digits even though we haven't done any hero work?" There was a small gasp.
"It's due to our approval rating," Tiger explained. "That number gave us a big boost."
"There are people waiting for us to return," Pixie-Bob added.
"No way we can jsut stay on the sidelines!" exclaimed Ragdoll, throwing her arms into the air.
"So you're doing it for the public," Kirishima said. He started to cry a little. "You're so manly, Wild Wild Pussycats!"
"Dude, cool it," Kaminari ordered.
"I kinda forgot they haven't announced the results for the second half of the year yet," said Ashido.
"So much has happened," Tokoyami added.
"This will be the first chart without All Might in years," Eva said.
"That's so strange," Ojiro said. "I can't imagine what it will even look like." Soon the Pussycats had left and Eva herself was getting ready to leave for her trip down to Fukuoka.
"I want a text for each time you enter and exit a store," Iida instructed as he stood at the front door." Eva nodded. "I expect back here at the dorms no later than 7:30 pm."
"Dude, you are going overboard," Kirshima grunted as he stood at the front. "Yuki's going to be fine."
"Hawks agency is located in that city," Tokoyami added. "I assure you; no trouble will come her way."
"Hmm," Iida sounded. "I want to be the first person you come to when you get back...I won't rest well until I know you are home safe."
"Yes, Iida," Eva smiled. She would have to check in with Bakugo, too. "I do appreciate your concern." Eva then stepped out of the building; down the steps was Todoroki; she fluttered down to him. "Is everything alright?"
"My father's taking the mantle as number one today," Shoto answered. "As a hero, I don't deny he is amazing...but as my father...I can't forgive him." He looked over at her. "I'm not sure how to feel about today."
"Whatever you are feeling just feel all of them," Eva advised. "You don't need to pick just one emotion." She put a hand on his face. "See you later, Shoto." After kissing him on the cheek, Eva took off to complete the tasks given to her by Aizawa. In every store she entered she heard; that the TV stations were on the Billboards.
"It's the first chart since Kamino, when the All Might the Symbol of Peace, was forced into early retirement," a reporter said. Eva was now at a kid's clothing store picking out pjs for Eri. "You can feel the excitement, folks. This is an important moment in history for heroes." She picked out two pairs of two pieces with long sleeves that had cats all over them; and a nightgown with the latest princess on it.
"In the past, pros didn't come up on stage during the announcements. But today, we see something new. Here we go!" Eva went over to the hat section; a cute sun hat caught her eye. "Number 10. Dropping down one rank from the last chart--Dragoon Hero: Ryukyu!"
"Honestly, I don't think I deserve to place this highly," Ryukyu admitted as Eva was now paying for the items.
"Number Nine has also slipped in rank, but he won't be defeated!" the reporter announced. "Equippied Hero: Yoroi Musha!"
Musha grunted. "Outside the top three, numbers are meaningless. Based simply on the tide of times." Eva had now left the store after a quick text to Iida; that she was on her way to the toy store.
"Number 8! From the Clean and Shiny commercial. It's everyone's favorite Laundry hero, Wash!"
"Wash! Wash-a-wash-a!"
"Number 7! In a huge leap up from the charts, it's Kamui Woods!"
Eva stopped in front of the TV store to see Kamui walking up; Kamui was one of Eva's favorites.
"I'm honored," Kamui said; the screen showed Mt. Lady.
"Any words for Kamui Woods?" a reporter asked.
"As one of his teammates, I couldn't be more thrilled for this fast-growing success," Mt. Lady answered.
"And what are the reports that you two are dating?" the reporter asked.
"I have no comment," Mt. Lady answered as she looked away; the screen went back to the stage.
"Number 6, from the orthodox school! if manliness comes a regular in the top ten. Shield Hero: Crust!"
"I'm sure Kirishima is a fan of him," Eva said.
"I wish I could have seen more of All Might in action," Crust admitted. "Such a shame."
"Number 5! This bunny's spirit is infectious! Rabbit Hero: Mirko!" Mirko sure was extremely pretty. Growing up Eva always seemed to lean toward nature; animal; and bug-type heroes such as Mirko while Izuku was more for heroes like All Might.
"I heard you formed a team," Mirko said as she flipped her hair. "Talk about weak."
"Number 4! Check out the huge increase in this mysterious ninja's resolved cases! Ninja Hero: Edgeshot!"
"Compose yourself, we're in public," Edgeshot advised. Eva moved on from the screens; making her way into the toy shop.
"This time, those heroes involved with the Kamino incident have all seen their approval ratings go up," the reporter announced. "Which brings us to number three. He's currently on hiatus, but he still ranked highly. With the number-one approval rating this round, it's Fiber Hero: Best Jeanist!" Eva looked up to see Best Jeanist shown on screen, the man Katsuki did his internship under. "We're all hoping for him to return as soon as possible! "Number two! He does things his own way, which is how he reached the charts with lightning speed! Wing Hero: Hawks!"
"Well, I'm not sure about that," Hawks said as Eva looked at a unicorn nightlight in her hands.
"Finally...He's been the temporary number one. But...Today he'll officially inherit that sacred spot," the report announced; Eva looked up to see Endeavor on the screen. "After all this time...Flame Hero: Endeavor!" Eva pulled out her phone; on her lock screen was a picture of her and some of her classmates. Izuku, Urakaka, Tsu, Iida, Shoto, and her. Shoto had put bunny ears behind her head.
"We chose to make the charts more of an event today because we feel this time is a critical juncture for heroes," the chairwoman announced. Eva wasn't the biggest fan of the chairwoman; she always made things difficult for the Fae. "It's been about three months since All Might's retirement, and I know that there are some of you who feel we are still lacking an icon. "But the heroes who will guide us into the future are standing before you. Let's put..."
"How about we hear a few words from everyone?" a reporter asked; Eva was now heading back to the front.
"Thank you, very much," Ryukyu began. "However, if it would have been within my power. I would have refused this honor. Lately, we've lost too many people. There are those I should have been able to save but did not. I'll strive to do better."
" I GET YOUR CONCERNS!" Crush cried. "THE ANGUISH IN YOUR HEART! WHAT A BURDEN WE BEAR! LET'S STAND TALL TOGETHER! YOU DESERVE THIS RYUKYU! YOU'RE STRONG!"
"It's not your turn to speak," Ryukyu reminded him.
"The world has changed, but our objectives have not," Musha said.
"WASH!" Wash cried.
"I'd like to honor every hero who's come before me," Kamui said. "That's one reason I'm humbled Edgeshot invited me onto his team."
"Ohh!" Crush cried again. "WHY WASN'T I AT KAMINO ON THAT FATEFUL DAY?"
"If anyone out there scheming right now, you best be prepared for me to send you flying," Mirko declared.
"And you Edgeshot?" a reporter asked. "You were third in the approval ratings."
"I'm not concerned with such numbers," Edgeshot answered. "I'm grateful for the support I've received. But I don't do this for the notoriety. I believe it is my duty to bring about peace."
"Come on, guys, who wants to hear this kinda canned crap," Hawks groaned. "Stain, maybe?" Everyone at the store stopped what they were doing and looked at the screen.
"I like this guy," Mirko smiled more. "He's fun."
"As always, you enjoy causing a commotion," Edgeshot scolded.
"I just have a problem holding back sometimes," Hawks admitted; the reporter gasped when he took the mic. "Okay, so if we're talking about popularity, Best Jeanist is ranked at the top thanks to the boost he got from being on hiatus." He started to use his wings to fly. " I'm runner-up, thanks. Edgeshot is third. And Endeavor ekes in at fourth. I'll ship the rest. To be honest with you, I think the approval rating is the most important number right now. Isn't it about time the charts were overhauled? Don't you think we need to change how we do things? Our great Symbol is no more. At this critical juncture, why does it seem everyone's playing it so safe? Enough with these rehashed PR Lines. Maybe we should stop pretending and start saying what's on our minds, huh? Well, that's all I gotta say." He lowered himself down, pointing the mic at Endeavor. "Now, let's hear it from number one, who has a lower approval rating than I do."
Endeavor took the mic from Hawks. "Since this child decided to fan the flames, I won't say much." He clenched a fist. "So instead, just watch what I do." The event ended; Eva was now leaving the store. She was taking longer than she needed to; she was enjoying the time to herself. She was now walking past a building when someone's shouts startled her.
"THIS IT!"
Eva looked over to see a man in a trench coat.
"METAHUMAN LIBERATION!" He opened his trench; Eva quickly shielded her eyes from the naked man. He quickly stopped; Eva looked over to see a few red feathers around the man. She looked across the street to see Endeavor and Hawks walking together. Eva was now in a supply store to grab books and school supplies for Eri; she was picking up a science booklet when she got a call from Tsu.
"Hey, Froppy," Eva greeted as she turned the book around.
"Can you pick up a few things for us, Violet Gust?" Tsu asked. "Just a couple of groceries."
"Yeah, I can get it," Eva smiled. "Just text me a list."
"Thanks," Tsu said. "Ribbit."
The phone shuffled; she heard Ashido's voice. "Where are you right now?"
"I'm grabbing some school supplies for Eri," Eva answered. "Picked up some word flashcards."
"We are starting to prep for dinner," Ashido said. "Will you be home in time for it?"
"I'm not sure," Eva answered. "Don't wait for me if I'm not there when it is finished."
"Alright," Ashido answered; Eva heard Ashido repeat the information to the others; followed by yelling from Iida. Eva hung up the phone; she had received a text message from Jiro; it was a small list of things.
Apples
Sugar
Rabbit Food
Bandaids
As soon as Eva stepped out of the supply store; there was a sound of a large crash; glass shattering. Eva looked up to see Endeavor beginning to go head-to-head with a Nomu. Endeavor was using Flashfire First: Hell Spider; the Nomu evaded the attack took Endeavor and slammed him into the building. Eva stuffed the bags deeper into the carrier she was holding and then rushed over; she started to move people out of the way from falling debris. The building was starting to call over; red wings zipped past her; going to rescue others. Eva looked back to see that Endeavor had sliced through the building; causing it to explode. The Black Nomu seemed to have given birth to a couple of gray Nomus.
"Somebody help us!" a man cried. Hawks flew in to stop two men from being attacked. "Hawks, thank you!"
"I gotcha," Hawks said as he used his wings to evacuate the men. "Let's get you somewhere safe." He stood up as the Nomu looked at Hawks. "Although to be frank, I'm not great against power types." He was using two feathers as types. "So, I'm not making any guarantees." He looked forward to seeing that Eva had returned a kid to its parents; they quickly thanked her before running away from the scene. " I recognize you from the sports festival...Eva Yuki." She looked over at him. "You didn't accept my offer for an internship."
"Apologies," Eva said as her eyes shifted toward the Nomu behind him. "The Nomu."
"You let me worry about that," Hawks smiled; he was true to his word. An intense heat came in a flash. They both looked up to see that Endeavor had increased his flames; the black Nomu had separated his head and was getting ready to attack. "Watch out!" Endeavor had been attacked; blood spilled out of his left eye; they watched Nomu bring down Endeavor. "Yuki...I want you to focus on rescue...leave the fighting to me and the big guy."
"Sir?" Eva asked.
"You have your provisional license, don't you?" Hawks asked; she nodded. "If you have to fight then do so, but focus on evacuation and rescue. GO!" Eva took off; she slammed her foot into a Nomu that was about to take someone; it went flying; she grabbed the person and then took them to safety. People were scrambling as the Nomus attacked; the black Nomu set its sight on the large crowd.
"MOMMY, WHERE ARE YOU?!" a kid cried. Eva began to focus on getting kids reunited with their parents. she grabbed the kid in the crowd.
"There is no symbol," a reporter cried. "This is what it looks like when people have no hope."
"Don't just say whatever you want!" a boy cried; Eva had just returned a little girl to her parents; she looked over to see a boy with pink hair. "What, you think scaring people makes for good TV?"
"Okay, you gotta chill, dude," another said.
"Look over there!" the pink-haired boy insisted. "His flames are still burning! See?" Eva glanced back to see flames appearing above buildings in the distance. "You know what that means. Endeavor's still alive and fighting for us! Don't say there's no symbol just 'cause All Might's not here!"
"Move it man!" the other boy cried. "We need to run! Let's hurry and get out of here!"
"Do you know what Endeavor's doing right now?" Tameda asked. "Endeavor's risking his life for our sakes. Look at him!" Eva continued to help with helping the lost kids, she saw that Endeavor had gotten back up; using his heat to catch up to the Nomu. Hawks soon went up to help Endeavor; and appeared behind the Nomu with a feather sword. Endeavor flames had taken the form of a phoenix; pushing him toward the enemy even faster. Endeavor slammed into the Nomu; flames grew larger and hotter. The Nomu then pushed Endeavor back, it was regenerating.
"HAWKS, NOW!" Endeavor shouted as Eva delivered twins to a woman; it was the last of the kids that had gotten lost in the chaos. There was a big energy blast; it was getting hotter.
"It's...Endeavor," said the reporter. "He's still going! Even as he suffers and struggles...he's fighting!" Endeavor's flames took the form of wings again; he turned the direction of the Nomu; they rose high in the sky. Everyone watched as intensely as Endeavor burned brighter than before; Eva used her wings to protect the kids near her from the heat. Endeavor fell from the sky like a comet; crashing into the ground with the burned-up Nomu. "Endeavor is still standing! He did it! He's on his feet---with his fist raised high! A sign of victory! No! A symbol of a new beginning!" After everything; Eva began to help people that got hurt to the hospital if they needed it.
"Violet Gust!" Hawks called after Eva brought someone to the hospital.
"Hawks, sir," Eva greeted. "Is Endeavor going to be alright?"
"He's going to be alright," Hawks answered as he walked up to her. "From what I've been told he's going to have an impressive scar." He handed her something.
"Hm?" Eva sounded; she took the item; it was a note to Aizawa; explaining how he permitted Eva to help.
"This won't affect your provisional license in any way," Hawks assured. "You were simply following my orders...what were you doing in Kyushu, it's far from UA."
"I was grabbing a few things for a new resident," Eva answered. "Mr. Aiz--Eraser Head sent me out here."
"Why didn't you come to my agency?" Hawks asked; Eva looked up at him. "I admit I was pretty bummed when you chose Snow Bug and Nighteye instead of me."
"Sorry, sir," Eva apologized.
"No sweat," Hawks smiled as he put his arms behind his head. "I don't regret taking in Tokoyami...go on home; we can take care of the rest." He flashed a smile. Eva said goodbye before taking back off for home. After a quick stop at the store, she got to the alliance to find all the lights off from the outside. She fluttered up to a window; she saw Iida all alone in the common room; pacing back and forth.
"Where were you?" Iida demanded as soon as Eva entered the building. "I called you multiple times, and you didn't answer!"
"I got the stuff," Eva said as she held up a grocery bag. "The items for Eri, too."
"Eva!" Iida shouted as he put his hands on her shoulders; he pushed her down till her feet touched the ground. " Did you even bother to check your phone?" She shook her head. "What took you so long to get back here?"
"I was helping a little," Eva answered. "Helped kids that got separated from their parents, Hawks sir gave me clearance." Iida relaxed a lot at those words.
"You weren't acting on your own, and you didn't engage in the actual fight; it should be okay," Iida said; he then pulled her into a tight hug. "Mr. Aizawa had to use his scarf to restrain Bakugo from going down there."
"Hm," Eva sounded. "How is Todoroki?"
"He's going to be okay," Iida said as he pushed her back. "Did you let Mr. Aizawa know you got back?"
"No," Eva answered. "I do have a note from Hawks." As soon as Eva held it up; Iida took it.
"Very well," Ida breathed. "Are you hungry? When was the last time you ate something?" Eva stared up at him. "A milk and honey drink mix should calm down any nerves you are feeling." Eva stared up at him; he looked at her. "What is it, Eva?"
Eva fluttered up and kissed her cheek. "Thank you, Iida." He blushed slightly. "You should go to bed, I'll be okay."
"Are you sure?" Iida asked. "Midoriya showed me a recipe that should only take five minutes; it'll help you sleep." With that, Eva stayed up a few extra minutes, talking to Iida. "Eva." She looked at him; they were now sitting on the couch next to you. "What were you thinking when helping the lost children?"
"If I'm being honest...my past," Eva answered; she looked away. "I remembered being separated from my parents all those years ago in Meslipus forest. The last time I saw my mom she was protecting me and my siblings." Iida looked at her. "I remember being caught in a net with them; one of the villains had a weapon pointed, loaded with iron when it went off; I just remember my mom appearing out of nowhere, taking the bullet...in an instant, she was dust...She smiled at us before the bullet hit."
"And what happened after that?" Ida asked.
"People were dying left to right; when it became clear that help wasn't coming, those freed grabbed who they could and went to the Otherworld," Eva answered. "I didn't wake for four days."
"Have you ever thought about taking revenge?" Iida asked. "Like when I went after the Hero Killer?"
"Sort of," Eva answered. "I was more set on never returning to the human realm." She looked at Ida. "Class 1-A makes me happy I stayed." A smile broke out on Ida's face; Eva faired Ida night before heading up; as she soon opened the door to her room: Katsuki sat up in the hammock. "Katsuki."
"I assume four eyes already got to you about coming home late," Katsuki said. "Especially after with happened in Kyushu." Eva nodded as she closed the door. "Did you get hurt?"
"Not, I can recall," Eva answered. "Probably have a few scratches I'm unaware of."
"Why didn't you bother to call anyone back?" Katsuki asked; she blinked. "You haven't looked at your phone yet, have you?" Eva took out her phone; she saw a ton of missed calls from multiple people.
Katsuki Bakugo: 200 (All with a voicemail.)
Iida: 175
Izuku Midoriya: 150
Shoto: 100
Ashido: 80
Urakaka: 60
Tsu: 40
Eva tossed her phone onto her bed before joining Katsuki in the hammock. As soon as Eva sat in the hammock, Katsuki pulled her into a tight hug, and she happily hugged back. After a few minutes, he pulled back and kissed her face a bit.
"What's on your mind?" Katsuki asked, lying back.
"What's on your mind?" Eva repeated lying next to him. "You must have a lot with Endeavor taking place as number one, being the Symbol of a new beginning." Katsuki held out both hands; she placed hers in them. He then took one finger and tapped it on her ring in the correct order.
"I've been paying attention to you the way Deku paid attention to me," Katsuki said as he took off her ring; her glow filled the room. "Now we can start our conversation." He put the ring in a side pocket hanging on the side of the hammock. Eva and Katsuki talked for a bit before they both fell asleep in the hammock.
