A Hidden Light.

Lapis looked at the ceiling as a warm breakfast smell filled the air. A certain smell of sausage followed a little after it, making him grab his nose. Scarlet better not serve that shit to him. He was already mad at one person. He didn't need five million more. He gently got up and went down. Scarlet smiled before putting a plate in front of him.

"Before you get mad, the others asked for the sausages. They're not for you."

"Good. I would've ripped your head off if there was."

He sat down at the side as the others got their food. A faint voice touched his ear as he quickly finished.

"Excuse me...?" His gaze trailed up to the voice before he paused.

In front of him was a decently sized boy. His school uniform lightly grasped him as he ran a hand through his red hair. What really grabbed his attention was the red eyes that met Lapis's blue ones. For a good minute, he thought those eyes would've lit something on fire. Lapis stood up and immediately saw that he was certainly not taller than him.

"Yes?" Those red eyes scanned over the taller male as he spoke.

"I... My name's Dijon. I was assigned to this base." Lapis stayed quiet at that. "Are.. you the base leader?"

"No..." His eyes wandered and grasped Scarlet's. She immediately caught sight of the new kid before going upstairs. "He's not up yet. I'm sure he'll be up soon." Dijon nodded as paused. "If you want, we can get you some food." The redhead smiled at his kind offer.

"No thanks... I ate before I came." Lapis hummed before a light breeze alerted the bluenette of the incoming blur. Scarlet wasn't quite fast enough before he moved out of the way and Sage took his spot.

"So..." Dijon's face went pale as the captain's voice went deep. No one could move as he leaned down and studied the small redhead. "You transferred here today?"

"This morning, sir." Silence followed as he paused. Sage then smiled.

"Welcome aboard then!" He turned to the Operator as the room gave a shared sigh of relief. "Can you get him what he needs? I'll be right back."

"Of course, Captain." He nodded before going out. It had gotten quiet before Scarlet spoke.

"Who else was waiting for him to pull out the knife?" Lapis's hand went up before anyone else could move, causing the rest to burst out laughing.

"I'm surprised he didn't!" The Operator sighed before going over to the redhead.

"Follow me... before these guys get rowdy."

Sage held his composure as Dijon scanned over the mission. He was supposed to get this guy's pokemon back. Of course, he knew exactly what to do. Dijon finally moved and surprised the group watching. And Scarlet almost made the "Stupid Mission" remark early.

He quickly captured the two pokemon in the area before he calmly called them over, almost knowing something. When he got turned down, he didn't look distressed, but he was able to catch sight of the third, true pokemon before catching it and bringing it back. That got relief from the guy before he thanked them and Dijon spoke.

"Rookie Mission." The trio there froze, confusion following. "There's no way that it's not when I'm being watched like that." Scarlet was the one to finally speak.

"I like my name for it. Stupid Mission." Lapis's head dropped as Sage slowly blinked out of the daze.

"Scarlet, I saw you holding it back."

"I got pretty close to exposing it." Sage finally moved. It felt unexpected, but he started for the base, getting a sigh from the other two.

"I saw that coming before he moved."

"Shut up Lapis." Dijon blinked a little before she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Well... as one of the Top Rangers here in Fiore, I can say this. Mission Cleared. Now let's go make sure Sage isn't about to murder the base."

~_~

Sage hadn't murdered the base, just went to his room with the message that people needed to start patrol. While everyone was concerned for the leader, they followed directions to not get on his bad side. The operator pulled Dijon off to the side, making Lapis pause by the door to listen.

"Dijon... I know you are brand new here, but listen. Weird things have been happening around here, and this seems to be the middle territory. So be careful." Dijon nodded softly.

"Is... there anyone or anything in particular?"

"Well... Sage is the big one. There are others here and there that are getting worrisome as well. So..." Dijon smiled.

"I can handle it. Trust me." She frowned as he headed out to patrol. Lapis slipped over to Scarlet as she talked to a little girl and watched Dijon as he went to join the others. But one thing stayed on his mind. The same thing the Operator was no doubt wondering.

What did he mean he could handle it?
