O N E

Alessia was not known for making great decisions, hence why she had went on a massacre in the fifties and why she defied her parents and married at the age of 16.

No, for over a century she wasn't the girl her family went to for decisions and she certainly wasn't the one anyone spoke with for advice. She had a knack for picking the worst possible choices but the strawberry blonde figured there was no point in living life with what ifs and eventually she would get the hang of things and make decisions that Edward wouldn't always have to save her from.

That motto however didn't help her in the slightest when she was looked at to make the final decision, one of which would not only affect her life but the entirety of her family as well as the brunette human staring at her with wide eyes.

Alessia understood why she was the deciding vote although most had said yes, except Rosalie and Edward, she was the only vote that truly mattered. This was her brother, her blood that they were discussing and the love of his life... a story of which she had been stuck right in the middle of. Although Carlisle Cullen was considered the patriarch and ultimately made the important decision for his family this was one he did not have a voice in. It was Alessia that was left last, the one everyone now stared at in curiosity as they attempted to crack the unbreakable emotionless face she was currently wearing. Yes, she comprehended why the task was given to her but that didn't mean she liked it.

"Alessia..." Edward spoke his sisters voice, it was in a tender way, one of which his sister had brief memories of hearing when they were still human, it was the voice he used to show how much he loved her. "You know what this means to me..."

At his words Alessia pursed her lips, her hand clamping tightly on the bannister of the stairs and eyes darting away from her adoptive family and towards the window diagonal to her. She understood what he wanted from her, she understood what Bella wanted but neither of those decisions mattered to her. It was what she wanted, what she could live with.

Her blackened eyes watched the evergreen trees outside, leaves dancing across the winds as today had been one of the brighter ones. Briefly she noticed one break off and flow through the cold air, escaping where it was once trapped too. She had never more wanted to be a small insignificant leaf then in that moment.

If she said no and kept Bella human then they would deal with the volturi who could show up at any moment and rip apart the small happiness she possessed within the family. However, if they didn't show up Bella Swan would age, she would become older and eventually become one with the ground once more... leaving a very heartbroken Edward who no doubt would attempt to commit the same acts they had stopped him from two days ago. Alessia knew her brother would again come to the ludicrous decision of death and she would be left alone forever in the world. Something of which she didn't care for, and would fight against at all costs.

If she said yes however, Bella would become one of them. Her brother would eventually forgive her and realize his life would be much easier with a more durable and immortal Bella. They would all live happily until the Volturi would come to collect their dues and the strawberry blonde knew one way or another they would rip the family apart.

She was damned if she didn't... damned if she did? The female vampire understood either outcome would cause hell to reign down on them eventually so it was all a matter of time. What was a girl like her to do?

She sighed, exhaling an unnecessary pull of air and looking down... a decision finally made. Right hand immediately clasping the pink diamond jewel resting at the base of her throat which Edward had given her once years ago.

"Alessia, I know what you're thinking..." Edward spoke up the moment his sisters darkened eyes met his own.

"You don't know what I'm thinking brother, remember you can't hear my thoughts." She quickly cut in, narrowing her eyes at him as her fingers began to tap on the wooden bannister. "Edward, you've chosen to follow her in death, what do you think I'm gonna do? I can't lose you brother, not ever. You want this girl more then your own life and I can't let that happen. At least this way she will be back. Yes, Bella will be one of us. I don't care if you hate me Edward, so long as you're alive to do it."

It seemed that most were delighted, Emmett hollering loudly, Esme and Alice laughing in glee, Jasper giving a small smile in Bella's direction, the human girl nodding her head appreciatively, and Carlisle nodding approvingly at his only redheaded child. Of course, there were those who didn't approve, like Rosalie who was more then angered by her sisters decision and choosing to stomp upstairs, glaring at Alessia and bumping her shoulders when they passed by one another. To that, the strawberry blonde growled, "not everything is about you and what you wanted Rosalie. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can get your head out of your ass."

The blonde vampire didn't bother to respond, disappearing in a blur.

Alessia turned back to the real scenario, meeting eyes with Edward who seemed far too invested in his own anger to give her a chance to speak. Instead he said something to Bella and both were darting out of the house, not giving Bella the chance to say goodbye.

Everyone grew silent, looking at Alessia as if she would explain the awkward tension. She pursed her lips, stepping down from her spot on the first landing of the steps, her heeled shoes clicking against the wooden floors rather loudly. No one spoke to her, knowing ordering the rebellious vampire was not wise. Instead, she walked towards the window near the front dork and watched as Edward shut the driver door loudly, pulling out far too quickly for his girlfriends ancient truck.

She sighed out of annoyance, "I'll follow them. I think it's best I speak to Edward before I end up throwing him across another mountain."

"Not that it wouldn't totally be entertaining, by all means wait it out... kick his ass once more." Emmett jumped in with a quirky remark, always being the small comedic relief.

Alessia bit back a laugh, knowing she shouldn't start bantering with Emmett considering she needed to catch up to her brother. "Sorry bear, gonna have to wait that one out for the next time we fight for a mountain lion."

He shrugged his shoulders, nodding and following his very angry mate up the stairs.

"I can't see what's going to happen next Alessia," Alice strained voice interrupted her move to leave. "I think that wolf Bella was with is going to show up though, that's the only explanation for my blind spot."

Alessia nodded, knowing at the very least she would have an excuse to follow her brother. If he was going to be face to face with a wolf then better she be there and prevent someone's death.

Alessia squared her shoulders, knowing Edward was as stubborn as she was and it would probably take a lot of physical and mental force not to knock his head through mountains until he saw reason when they spoke.

A hand clamped around the petite girls shoulder, squeezing gently to gain her attention. Her eyes turned back to see Carlisle had neared her, "go on Alessia. This time you you get to be the voice of reason, the only voice of reason Edward will probably listen to... or at the very least be forced to listen too."

She nodded, opening the large double doors and following after the loud truck.

Her throat itched, the hunger becoming very aware to her senses the longer she was outside. It'd been weeks... even months since she'd last had a sip of blood. The last time was in Scotland, hunting the various animals there freely while she stayed with some of her old friends before having to be dragged away to the heat of Italy. She'd had millions of things on her mind before, ones of which could have ended her own life so sustaining herself wasn't exactly at the top of her list.

Even though she wasn't able to gain migraines her fingers still rubbed at her soft temples, groaning lightly. Talking to Edward always did this to her, ever since they'd become immortals he had taken on the role of being a sort of parent to her. Disciplining his wilder, less emotionally available younger sister at every corner. Now the tables had turned, forcing the strawberry blonde to somehow convince her eldest brother that Bella's immortality was better then his own stubborn option.

Instead of continuing to hear the rev of an engine voices drifted her way, arguing ones at that. She could distinctly pick out Edwards and Bella's but there was another that grabbed her attention. Must be the wolf boy, she thought, picking up her pace just incase a fight actually did break out.

The road leading towards the main streets of Forks were lonely, not many cars passing by as the vampire walked the sides of the road.

"I swear to God, I'm not moving!" Bella's loud voice alerted the female vampire of distress. Immediately her inhuman speed carried her the few miles of space between them until she was not far off.

Bella mumbled something she cared not to pay attention to, instead focusing on the brief appearance of Edward. Her brother seemed to be standing in defensive manner, ready to throw himself while one of Bella's hands were barely visible, the rest of her body blocked by a large wolf.

"Edward!" She yelled loudly, her heels clicking losing against the ground and then practically sinking into the rain soaked dirt, still she barely gave it attention. "What's happening?"

"Get Bella out of here!" Edward barely gave his sister a glance, his jaw tensed like he would combust at any moment.

Alessia huffed, stomping forward in the dirt until she came to see the whole confrontation. "Like hell I will! I won't let you battle some dog over this! He wants to take you on fine by me, I'm the better of the fighters!"

The frazzled girl had only continued to stare daggers towards her brother, realizing that it was not wise to leave her back open to the enemy she turned back, looking at Bella and pushing her behind her torso.

And she caught site of the whole cause to the trouble in the past and the new hell that would come forth on her.

She hadn't ever given love much of a thought, in fact, she presumed girls like her weren't meant to find soul mates. And no, she didn't mean those who possessed no beating heart and a craving for blood, she meant girls with no boundaries. Those who had no morals and had no guilt, a girl who would easily snap the neck of a teenage boy who'd caught her at the wrong time. Girls like her that caused more destruction then they could handle but laughed it off because they had no one holding them back, no one pleading with them to see it in a different way. Girls like Alessia weren't meant to ever fall in love... and yet here she was locking eyes with her mate.

He was tall with bronzed skin, dark hair that spiked out do to the rain, a handsome face that physically seemed pure and holy but showed signs of dark times, and broad arms that matched a defined torso. He was god like, one that would have his own statue in Greece, tales of his adventures in Mt. Olympus passed down from generations. Zeus compared nothing to him... no he was much grander then that. She stared at him, feeling her heart swell and explode, knowing that if there were elixirs to destroy girls like her... they were in boys like him.

"No..." she gasped around the same time his own dumbstruck and awed expression dropped and he was stepping back. "This can't be happening."

"Not you! Not now! Not... not one of you!" Jacob sneered in disgust, his facial expression of pure agony and pain. She could take him apart within seconds of meeting, knowing even though his head adamantly wanted nothing to do with her, the animal side of him, the part driven on pure instinct wanted her and nothing else.

He stepped back, turning in the other direction and morphing into his wolf. His chocolate colored wolf turned back towards her, pupils massive as her reflection shown in them. Alessia too frightened and shocked to move forward. For a split second it seemed he had changed his mind, like he would come back towards her and beg for forgiveness but instead he shook his m massive head. Growling under his breath she could only imagine the vile things she would hear him muttering if she allowed herself to be inside his head. Instead though the wolf raced away, howling into the day with agony, chords of which struck Alessia right to the core of her existence as her knees gave out.

The vampire knew that karma would come back for her, to destroy what was once thought gone but even aware she had never expected the pain to be this immense. The cavity in her chest throbbed, the instinct to cry suddenly appearing as vibrations racked through her body. She had never felt such a mess.

"Alessia, what happened?" Bella's concerned voice shook her attention. The humans hands wrapping around her shoulders as she bent down.

Alessia snapped back then, the sob that once fought its way to the surface getting shut down again. She couldn't do this here, not with her brother present and certainly not with her mates love so near. Quickly she stood, looking between the two of them.

Edward stepped forward, not having ever seen this reaction from his sister in a century, he knew what it mean. His sister had found her mate but would that make a difference? "Alessia, did he just—"

Alessia snapped her eyes to him, "don't, take Bella home and leave me be."

"Like hell, he just left you after imp—" Edward began ranting off once more, lifting his palm in pure anger. Alessia sighed, now really feeling as if a migraine was about to commence.

Instead she shut him up, bending her brothers mind to her will, a skill she had only ever done a handful of times to him. Her eyes clamped shut at the silence, feeling Bella's intense gaze trained on her. Instead of acknowledging it she simply ordered, "you will take Bella home and stay with her. Don't come looking for me, I will be back soon. And you will not fight me on this."

Edward simply nodding, not being able to fight his sisters control. His lips clamped shut as he grabbed Bella's hand. Said brunette not moving and instead staring accusatorially at the strawberry blonde. "You know you're not suppose to do that. You have..."

"You know Bella just because it's harder for me to get into your head doesn't mean I won't actually do it." The girl challenged, blackened eyes like bottomless pits as they glared back. Her skill set was always met with barricades insides Bella's head but with a lot of effort she was able to get passed them. "I need time to think, go before I drink you for breakfast."

Bella pursed her lips tighter, knowing that Alessia wasn't one to be argued with.

They drove off shortly after, leaving the strawberry blonde to herself in the small clearing. She hadn't moved a muscle since then, blankly staring at the ground as she relived the raw emotions that had shot through her body.

It was truly terrifying.

The girl suddenly looked up into the sky, visualizing the god she had been taught to fear her human life staring down at her. She could imagine a pair of crossed arms, a stern look on his face followed by a simple nod to the head. Did he have to speak? No. Alessia had this coming for a long time, if she couldn't die then he would plan her perfect hell on earth.

And so he did, in Jacob Black.
