Chapter 59
Just because you can ignore something, it doesn't mean that it stops existing. And just because he was able to ignore his pain so far, it didn't mean that it would go away.
At that very moment that he had entered the bathtub full of ice and his pained body withered in ache, Jimin felt that saying embodied on his bones.
Thoughts of regret and curses passed through his mind as his face morphed in anguish while he placed his own hands over his mouth, in an attempt to muffle the screams he was failing to hold back.
You were in the living room as you had prepared him the bath and left him in his private moment however if he was to scream at the amount of pain he was feeling, his voice would most likely reach you and scare you and he didn't want to cause any unnecessary commotions.
There was nothing you could do anyways. There's nothing anyone could do but time and he sure was suffering through the passage of it.
After some minutes of fighting to control himself, Jimin let his arms fall to his sides and sink onto the cold water to get numb along with the rest of his body that had started feeling dead.
It almost made him feel thankful that he wasn't feeling his own body more and more as minutes passed by, giving him a sense of relief that let him lean his head back and let out of his lips to escape a trembling breath.
The pain on his ribs was fading along with his senses yet he left a smile get plastered on his lips while his thoughts travelled him to cold winters, icebergs and hazards. Snowstorms that he could get buried under and leave his last breath.
The relief of death, the taste of that end, he imagined it similar to the moment he was living. Maybe his body would feel something like this, stone-cold and with the sense of life fading from within him. And maybe his mind would have been in a similar haze as it was right now.
The crisping ice seemed to have entered his scalp as he stood there observing the ceiling, reminding himself almost robotically that he shouldn't stay long in these freezing waters. A reminder that the more he repeated it to himself, the more it started fading away in his brain.
And instead, snowflakes started appearing in his memories. Crystal white snowflakes fell on his forehead and sink on his skin to travel to the essence of his brain.
His eyes had fallen close at the imagination, his lips slightly parted as if he was a lifeless body floating in the cold waters of the sea.
Moments flashed before his eyes of events recent and not. Everything he went through today, the reckless things he did and how he tormented his body. The pain he kept pretending that it didn't exist but tortured him regardless. This was the moment he couldn't run away from it, for now, it wasn't only physical. The feeling of it had been engraved in his mind and thus even when he gets better, he will always be able to relieve this pain by barely closing his eyes.
Jimin hated that fact. How pain was such an ingenious thing be it physical or not. It creeps inside you in ways you can never imagine. It gets on depths you never even knew you had. It touches places of your heart you had failed to realize that were fragile.
Was he just bad at detecting it or was pain something that couldn't be stopped from being felt? He wasn't sure but at that very moment, that his mind was bringing to him unnecessary tastes of pain and heartache that past events had caused him, he felt like he would have yanked and torn that pain apart if it could ever be a concrete thing which he could get his hands on.
The poison of frustration felt like a snake that swirled on his chest yet the feeling was too faint in comparison to the paralyzing cold that had gotten him chained in a way he had yet to notice fully.
His fingertips were no longer in his control and his eyelids trembled upon he realized what was going on but he failed to open his eyes. His lips parted however and your name slipped out of them desperately yet briefly.
You turned your head away from your phone as his voice reached your ears and with a confused expression you gazed towards the closed bathroom door.
"Yes?"You decided to reply even though you weren't sure if you had imagined him calling cause you were waiting for him to do so or he had called indeed.
You had agreed that he would call if he needed anything after all, so maybe he had surely called.
After waiting a bit for him to speak anything, you stood up from the couch and approached the door, as you took no further reply from him and that started worrying you a bit.
On your way back here, in the car, he looked quick worn out and even though you had given him his painkillers, he continued to appear a bit struggling. And that sure was worrisome considering that he had pretended pretty well that he was perfectly fine so far yet again everyone has their limits and maybe that was his.
DongMin had brought you home and had helped him up to your apartment, agreeing that in the evening he and Jin would come over for all of you to discuss together what to do regarding Jungkook's manager and his tries.
There sure existed too many things to trouble him right now and his physical condition sure wasn't helping him either making you pity him a bit as you knocked on the bathroom door and called his name. "Jimin?... Is everything alright in there?"
You questioned but there still was no reply but you did hear the sound of some splashing water so you thought that he may be getting out of the bath.
"Are you done already?" You smiled a bit as you stood before the door, waiting for it to open so you could help him till the bed, where he was supposed to lay and rest.
Yet once the door flew open and he revealed himself, your mind threw away the short plans that went by and fell blank instantly.
Who wouldn't have lost their thoughts if they were to have come face to face with that intense gaze? Eyes piercing cold and dark enough to make your skin get filled with goosebumps and chills to run down your spine.
He stood there, with only a towel wrapped around his waistline. His hair covering his forehead as it was dripping wet, leaving the drops to join the rest of his wet skin.
His lips had taken a shade of blue and a tint of red could be seen around his eyes that kept staring at you in a way that made you take some steps away from him unconsciously.
The more you looked at him, the more something inside you kept screaming to you to be alert. Whispers flooded your mind, warning you of the change that had taken place in him and as his shaky breath that was followed by a small fainted chuckle reached your ears, you realized that the man that was standing half-naked before you, was not Jimin at all.
"Where am I?" He uttered, with a voice tone lower than you had ever heard him speak and you found yourself unable to tear your gaze from his, as your mind started falling into a panicking state that was pressuring you to quickly decide how it would be better to behave with him.
"It-it's my apartment. It's a safe space." You tried to appear casual, even though his aura had your heart trembling inside for reasons you couldn't pinpoint.
There was just something way different on him than the other times you had seen him change personalities. There was something in his eyes that was creeping you out and terrorizing you in ways none had ever managed before.
"Where are my clothes?" He took a step closer to you and you immediately stepped back, almost tripping on your own feet, as your eyes didn't leave his still.
"There-there on the bag, on my bedroom. Near the wall." You gestured with your finger and he kept looking at you as he casually brushes his wet hair away from his face, bringing his forehead to full view.
"You seem rather scared Y/N. That's not how I imagined our first meeting." A smirk appear on his face as he spoke your name, making your eyes grow wide at the realization that hit you.
The other personalities that take over Jimin as far as you were aware, were fictional characters he had played once and they knew their names and projected people they knew in their made-up lives to whoever they were to happen to be around. As far as you had understood, Jimin would lose all sense of self-identity when he was to get changed but this one seemed to know your name and recognize you as who you were even though you were present only in Jimin's life.
But he was not Jimin for he claimed that this was the first time you were meeting him.
"Who are you?" You gathered the courage to ask him as he turned around and took some steps towards your bedroom then he halted his steps only for you, before turning around with a smile and facing you.
"It's me, Jimin. You Silly. "He replied with the most innocent smile you had ever seen on him, yet that didn't reassure you at all. It only scared you further for there was something different, there was something off but non of his characters knew his life, his name or your name. They didn't seem to know the fact that they weren't real, to begin with. So why did he know? If he wasn't Jimin then how did he know?
"My ribs feel crushed. Just what the hell has that idiot been doing with my body. DongMin ain't looking well after me."
Why was this personality aware of Jimin's life, unlike the others
and why was the fact that he was aware making him feel so much more dangerous to you?
