Chapter 27
You were walking on the corridors with your cart, feeling as if you wanted to fall in it, and rest right then and there and you would have if it wasn't for the thought of those bedsheets being dirty.
Having fallen asleep like that only to wake up after seventeen hours of sleep, sure would have been enough to have made you rest yet they had also made you heavy-headed, dizzy and had given you a migraine that was making you wish that you could return back on the free trial of death, called sleep.
Such a thing was way out of the question, however, because you were at work and while here you were expected to do your job no matter what.
"You surely look horrible today." Your coworker Sonia commented as she came out of the room which you two just finished cleaning, locking the door behind her. "Maybe you should go home. Ask for permission to leave." She suggested as she took the cart out of your hold, not wanting to have you pushing that while in this tired condition that you seemed.
"I can't afford that. I was supposed to come earlier today to fill in the lack of hours I did yesterday yet I came barely on time for my normal shift. If Miss Kwan, finds out, my ears will be about to fall off from the scolding that I will hear." Sonia started laughing imagining your words as if she was able to witness them. The scene surely didn't sound funny in reality but if your ears were to really fall on the floor as she speaks, that sure would have been as terrifying as it would have been hilarious.
"Miss Kwan would freak out so badly if your ears were to suddenly drop. You should play a prank on her someday." She suggested and you left your lips to be tagged upwards for a bit as you two walked down the corridor, heading to another room.
"Yeah sure, why not. The day I will crave to get fired, I will do so." Your seriousness that contradicted your words won one more happy outburst from your coworker making you feel satisfied that at least you were entertaining her. Sonia was always a nice company for you and it sure made the hours of work less monotonous. She even bared with your tasteless jokes claiming that they were funny to her when you yourself barely found them laughable.
"Since that hilarious sight will take time to occur before our eyes, let's just try to find other enjoyable things then. Do you wanna hear about a movie I saw with my husband yesterday? It was really amusing." You nodded your head in response considering that you had nothing better to do anyways while cleaning and proceeded to unlock the door of the room which you knew was empty.
As soon as you got inside however and made way for the cart with the cleaning equipment to reach inside, you felt your apron buzzing making you realize that you had forgotten to turn off your phone as you usually do. Damn, where is my brain today? You complained as you hurried to grab it and turn it off but as you held it, you saw that the buzz was from a text which you had received. The number was yet to be saved on your phone so it was displayed as a number only, but as you opened you realized that it was Jimin.
-"I think we have some more things to talk about. Can we meet tonight?"
-" I am at work right now. We can meet tomorrow."
You replied, finding no reason to be in a hurry for anything as tomorrow sure you will have plenty of time and since you were to be around him all day, surely there was to be found a moment where you could speak.
-"Good, I am on my way to your work. See you in room 2006."
A reply appeared on your screen before you had the chance to exit the chat room, making your eyes grow wide for an instant then you just exhaled a breath, accepting that there was no way to change his mind now. To not mention that you had no energy to argue over anything. He wants to meet tonight. So be it.
---Time skip---
"Are you sure that you can't just wait to meet tomorrow?" DongMin tried to pursue Jimin one more time as he was afraid that if anyone was to see him entering or leaving a hotel, they would have to face trouble.
"Have no worries, no one will see me. I have my ways around this hotel." Jimin assured him as he indeed had paid staff members to get him the private elevator waiting for him since the parking lot and even had a permanently booked room under Jin's name. Room 2006, where he was used to having meetings with SunHee.
A woman that still brought bitter memories to his mind but also one he did not plan to dwell over as she did not deserve his thoughts nor the feelings he had for her. It was a good thing that he was always good at detaching himself from people and erasing unnecessary emotions or so he claimed to be.
"But what's so important that can't wait for tomorrow?" DongMin looked past his shoulder as he spoke then concentrated at the front as he proceeded to enter the hotel's parking lot.
"What was so important that you chose to give in to someone's blackmail instead of telling it yourself?"Jimin replied with words that literally felt as if they were needles that pierced through DongMin's skin, letting him know well that no matter how friendly and okay Jimin was behaving with him, he was suspicious of him now.
"Yah, don't be like that. We know each other for years, you know that I have your back no matter what. It's just that..everyone had some private things that they wouldn't like it if they were to become more public." DongMin felt wronged at that moment, making him rant a bit while having a facial expression that displayed frustration, thing that brought a giggle at Jimin's lips before he brought the vehicle to a halt.
"Exactly. And so have I, So wait here for me and don't question many things, my friend." Jimin patted his shoulder right before he grabbed his black cap and put it on, hiding his face the best he could, right before he stepped out of the vehicle.
"Is he joking with me right now? Is he mad or is he not? Why does he have to be so unclear?" DongMin hit his head against the steering wheel once Jimin was out of sight, feeling stressed out from his behavior.
---Change of set---
"Hey, why don't you proceed to the next room. I will finish this off." Sonia suggested as this was one room before the last that you had for this floor, so maybe it was better to be off with it sooner, so you could have a break then move to the sixth floor.
"On it." You smiled while you headed to the cart and took some cleaning supplies with you along with a cloth, leaving the rest to be brought by Sonia when she was to finish the mopping of the floor, which was the only thing left for her to do in that room.
With your hands full, you exited and walked down the corridor to the room you had assigned to you, once in front of it proceeding to leave the products at the side so you could grab your card key and open the door.
After you unlocked it, you took hold of some products again and proceeded to get inside, turning on the lights once you reached the switch. The room got filled with light and now you could see well enough, allowing you to walk further inside only to have a big jump scare when someone opened the bathroom door and stepped out of it, wearing only a robe.
A small scream had left your lips unintentionally at that moment, as you were not expecting anyone to be in the room, having this room checked as unoccupied on the list that you had received from the reception.
"I am so sorry. I didn't know the room had customers in it. I am terribly sorry." You bowed your head, immediately apologizing while you took some steps backwards towards the door.
"Oh no, it's okay. I gave permission for cleaning staff to arrive. I don't like having people in my room if I am not around." The man spoke reassuringly, making you lift up your gaze a bit confused at first but also relieved that you had not done a mistake.
I just escaped a huge nagging. Thank god.
You thought to yourself right before you asked him if you could proceed to clean then and he allowed you to do so, just as he excused himself to the balcony, a white towel resting over his hair from the moment he had stepped out of the bathroom.
You proceeded to do your job, not looking much towards the man which you couldn't help but think about his presence for safety purposes because it was not that uncommon to have a customer in the room while cleaning it but it also was not from the most comfortable things to be living through.
Some tended to follow your moves with their eyes and some were even shameless enough to boldly check you out but this one doesn't seem to be of those people as he had sat at a chair outside on the balcony and was gazing out at the night sky, arms crossed over his chest that made you think that he may be feeling cold out there in the breeze of the night. A thought that made you start cleaning faster not wanting to leave the poor man outside for long, considering that he seemed to have just taken a shower.
While doing so though, you happened to come across his wallet that he had left on the commode near his bed and as you took hold of it to leave it aside in order to clean the furniture, it slipped through your fingers and landed on the floor, wide open. You looked past your shoulder for a moment, afraid if he saw you dropping it but thankfully he was still looking at the sky so you skillfully picked it back up, your eyes unintentionally falling at what seemed to be his driver license which had a small picture of him at the corner of it.
However, his face, which you had not seen so far because of that towel and the fact that you had kept your eyes at the floor while in his presence, was not the thing that got your eyes wide but rather the name which you recognized instantly. A name that as you kept looking at it the more made the face on the picture more familiar.
He is one of the top actors. One under SUN entertainment at that. What are the odds of him being here of all places?
You questioned, feeling as if the room was swirling around you at that moment. What was he there for? Could this be an opportunity for you to find out if he is the one after the attempts that were done against Jimin? If he meets here with the elevator guy then he sure is about to become that in your eyes.
Mr. Jeon Jungkook. The second best actor in the country after Park Jimin. The lead suspect.
"Miss?" You reacted reflexively as he called out to you, hiding the wallet behind your back as you turned around immediately, only to see that he was standing by the balcony door, the towel still over his head enough to create a shadow over the upper part of his face, as he kept his head low to help on that achievement.
"Yes, Sir? How may I be of help to you?" You replied as normally as possible, bowing your head while behind your back you managed to drop the wallet back on the commode safely.
"Can you just change the bedsheets and do the rest some other time? You see... I am in a bit of a hurry to sleep." He requested and you instantly agreed, doubting him, however, if he really was saying the truth but what else could someone do all alone at this late hour of the night?
You proceeded to take hold of the bedsheets and throw them on the floor, taking off the pillowcases before gathering them in your arms and exiting the room, to go to the cart where you could take clean ones, however as you took two steps outside, your eyes fell on the number 2006 helping you recall that Jimin was supposed to come here and as you thought of it, you heard the tingling sound of the elevator's doors opening, only for you to look towards the end of the corridor and witness Jimin stepping out of it.
