Chapter 41

The light of the shining moon found its way through the crack of the curtains and illuminated the empty side of his bed, which he was staring at.

With morning fast approaching, he knew he needed to catch some rest before his daily routine began, but his body and mind were at odds. After you, Jimin and DongMin had left for the night, Jungkook had informed Boram of the guest room she should be using then he had excused himself to rest. A rest that didn't seem to be able to find him.

Jungkook dragged himself out of bed, frustration gnawed at his mind like a persistent itch. His thoughts refused to quiet down, no matter how much more the night continued to wear on. Tossing and turning, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered within him.

It could be considered normal for certainly this night had been full of shocking information for him and thus his mind was bound to hang on them and think of them to no end. To the point that he had given birth to a hundred questions and he had none around to answer them for him.

He had made a mental note on calling you in the morning but he seemed to be impatient and anxious over him forgetting the wonders and gaps he needed to fill, so he walked out of his room and made his way to his small office space, where he occupied his chair and started scribbling on a piece of paper, all his thoughts.

After some minutes, he came to lean back and take a look at all his scattered thoughts that he had laid on that paper and feel slightly better that at least he had let them out.

"Maybe now I will be able to sleep." He murmured to himself as a smile reached his lips then he stood up and stepped out of the room, only to get startled by a soft screaming voice, that made him snap his head in the direction of the guest room.

He recognised that was Boram's voice instantly and even though he had been cold with her after Jimin and the rest had left, he still got worried enough by her sudden voice that he barged into the guest room, only to find her in her bed.

"What? What's wrong?" He uttered as he approached more, only to take notice that she seemed like she was asleep.

"Are you kidding me? Does she talk in her sleep? This woman is troublesome even when she is unconscious."He shook his head in disappointment and turned around to take his leave, only for her next words to halt his steps.

"Mom--Please." Boram's voice echoed shakily in the atmosphere of the darkroom as her face twisted in fear for in her mind she was reliving one of her nightmares.

Nightmares she had lived in reality too and used to follow her even in her dreams, making most of her nights, spent in the arms of hellish memories. Having a peaceful slumber had been rare for her yet she always went to sleep, with the hope of something changing.

Jungkook stood still for a while and allowed the silence to take over the space. He knew that he should just walk out and ignore this for it was not something he could fix. So what if her slumbers were not peaceful, sometimes neither were his. It's not like he could change anything by staying for she was asleep, yet no matter how much his mind was enforcing his opinion that he would be doing well to let this be, there still existed a part within him that bothered him.

"I am not gonna let her sleep over here again. All she knows how to do well is to inconvenience me." He murmured under his breath as he turned around and walked closer to her bed, noticing her forehead that was covered by sweat, and her face seemingly distorted in pain.

Her knuckles were white, making him wonder just how tightly was she grabbing those bedsheets.

"Take me out..." She uttered faintly making Jungkook raise an eyebrow at her for he didn't quite catch those words of hers.

"What did you say?" He whispered as he leaned a bit closer over her head.

"...I am scared... Mom...don't let me in here...please..." She went on with long pauses in between her words, as her lips started to tremble, making Jungkook worry over her condition.

"Hey, just what dream are you watching? Wake up...it's just a dream." He told her but he only witnessed her face morph further into anguish, right before a yell escaped her lips and she shot up reflexively. Her abrupt movement however caused her forehead to collide with Jungkook's head and they were both left exhaling phonemes of pain, as they fell back.

"Agh! What the hell?!" He yelled as he held his head that was in pain, for she sure had jolted away with quite some force.

Instead of an apology that he was expecting to hear, he was faced with her frozen gaze, which was overwhelmed with terror.  It was as if time had stood still for her. For what seemed like an eternity, she stood there, motionless and unresponsive. Then, finally, she drew in a deep, shuddering breath and snapped back to reality.

"Are you crazy?!" Jungkook's loud voice this time around entered her ears and she instantly transformed her gaze into a stern one.

"You are the crazy one. Why are you above someone's head while they are sleeping? Are you a creep?!" She argued as she pulled herself into a seated position and leaned further back, taking along the bedsheets to cover herself well.

"I was not looking at you-Do you think you are a worthy sight while sleeping? You look like you have constipation!"

"Excuse me?! How dare you say such a thing to a lady?!"

"What lady?! There's no lady here!" He retorted looking full-on angry with her.

"Get out of my room!" She demanded and gestured towards the door.

" This is my apartment!"Jungkook asserted in a loud voice and the two of them locked eyes, their gazes entering a battle of wills that neither seemed willing to lose. For a moment, they stood frozen, the air between them thick with tension. But as the silence stretched on, it became clear that someone had to take a step back. With a flicker of hesitation, their eye contact faltered, and the moment passed.

"Just get back to sleep...and don't disturb the silence again." His voice was softer this time as his eyes made their way to the floor.

"I am sorry if I woke you up...maybe you could lend me a scarf or something. I could tie my mouth so there wouldn't be any sounds." She naturally uttered her idea, as in her room she usually keeps one by the bedside along with her sleeping pills, which she sometimes uses, as her last resort.

Her words however only natural that didn't sound to Jungkook that looked at her with a mixture of confusion and worry. " Just what the heck goes down in that house of yours? I don't know if I should call the police or a psychiatric hospital anymore."

Boram couldn't help but laugh at his words, despite the fact that Jungkook definitely had not uttered them with joking intentions.

"Ah, sorry, I have an odd sense of humour." Boram tried to collect herself once she noticed that her laughter had made him even more confused.

"If only your humour was the only thing odd about you, how great would that have been," Jungkook commented and despite the fact that his words held an offensive implication, she just giggled a bit more.

"If I stay a lot with you, I might end up being the one to need a psychiatrist." He added and Boram apologised again a few more times, as she finally managed to get serious again.

"Anyways, just don't do weird things in my house, okay? Get back to sleep." Jungkook took some steps further away as he spoke then headed for the door, once outside, instead of closing it completely, he left a small gap just so he could see if she will obey his words or not.

She stood there for a while, looking towards the door, then once the fact that she was alone, sunk into her mind, Boram allowed her head to hang low. She pulled her covers off of her and slowly made her way to the small mirror that was placed in the room. Her reflection looking back at her, made her feel quite pathetic, but that was nothing new for she got to feel so almost every night of her life.

Her hand tremblingly reached to her collarbones and reluctantly she pulled down the hem of Jungkook's t-shirt which he had let her borrow, along with some pyjama pants, that were pretty long for her. His shirt was very loose too for her figure but fortunately, the collar of it was pretty high.

Her action had brought to display a long scar that trailed down her shoulder and she smiled to herself as she touched it, murmuring once more to her reflection. " It's okay...It's just skin...It doesn't hurt anymore."

Boram always used to reassure herself like that after recalling the way she had gained that scar. It certainly had left a deep impression in her mind and had scared her soul enough to never forget it, no matter how many years down the line, would go by.

She felt better after speaking those soft words, however, Jungkook that was still observing her by the small crack of the door held a different feeling for the sight before him. One of rage and pity as he couldn't help but wonder. How soulless can a mother be towards her child?

---Change of set---

You closed the shelf and placed the bowl you retrieved from it on the kitchen counter, preparing to pour some ramen to share with P3.

You both had left Jungkook's apartment and DongMin had dropped you and Jimin home, as you had given an excuse to him for your stay with Jimin, knowing that since Jin will be once again spending his night looking over InSu, you would have to be the one to keep an eye on P3.

"How much should I pour for you?" You turned to look at him as he was seated on the couch, drinking a glass of whiskey, that he had gotten for himself, immediately after stepping inside his apartment.

He had rushedly removed his coat and since then sat on his couch in the same position. His only movement being the occasional sips of his drink.

His silence sure had perplexed you, but since you were too tired and hungry, you had ignored it for a bit, thinking that over food, maybe you will get to question what was going on in his mind.

"I don't want any, you can eat without me." He didn't even bother to turn around and look your way as he declined and you stared at him for a bit more before, you poured some for yourself and calmly walked over to the glassy table that was placed before him.

You took your seat on the ground in order to have the table in a better position for you to eat and you proceeded to dig in, while finally having his face in full view. Yet still he was not looking at you. His eyes seemed to have gotten fixed, on his half-empty glass, making evident the fact that he had allowed himself to let his guard down and dive into his thoughts.

"So, even someone like you gets troubled huh." You uttered knowing that these words might tick him off enough for him to finally pay some attention to you.

"I am not troubled, I was calculating." He admitted as his eyes finally made their way to you.

"Calculating what?"

"The consequences of the actions I am about to do." He drank all the remaining liquid in his glass right after he spoke, then he stood up and made his way to the mini bar, to get himself another.

" Glad to know that you are not irresponsible, I guess but still...doesn't the fact that you are thinking of such, means that you harvest some fear in you?" You were observing his movements as you vocalised your thoughts and P3 turned around with a smile.

He walked over to you and kneeled next to you as you were seated on the floor still, then he left his glass on the table calmly as he kept the eye contact stable.

"I do have fears, but they definitely are not by the things you could think about."

"Surprise me then. I am all ears." You let go of the chopsticks you were holding and turned around to face him well while he sat down properly as a low chuckle was escaping his lips, finding silly how you thought that you could manipulate him to talk about things that he didn't want to.

"This overconfidence of yours Y/N makes you rather attractive you know," P3 uttered as he gently reached out his hand and allowed it to brush down your hair. " But attractive does not equal trustworthy, my doll."

"If you can't trust me, then who? You already know all my intentions and know that I have helped Jimin more than a few times." You argued, feeling slightly offended by the fact that he didn't consider you reliable enough.

"Exactly. You have helped Jimin so much, but not me. What if I were about to tell you that, the consequences of my actions, would burden Jimin to a point of no return?" He twirled a strand of hair around his finger as he spoke and you instantly reached to his hand and pulled it away, your grip tight still around his wrist as you stared boldly into his eyes, with a serious gaze.

"You can't harm anyone! You can't kill anyone!" You ordered him sternly, as you had understood what he was trying to say and it had made you angry. The thought only was agitating. That he was about to stain Jimin's hands. That he was about to do something cruel enough to make Jimin feel like a monster forever.

You knew well that Jimin was already struggling a lot and he felt responsible and guilty over the actions of his other personalities. He feared P3 more than the rest for the exact reason that he was crueller than the others and the self-blame for his actions, rests heavily on Jimin's heart. He may not be there with you right now, and you may not be able to stand up to P3 but what kind of friend were you to be to him, if you didn't at least try? You had to keep him away from doing anything that would cost Jimin's consciousness and psychological state.

P3 didn't try to free himself from your hold, instead, he tilted his head to the side and allowed a wide smile to appear on his lips while his eyes lowered to your lips rather seductively.

"If you make your grip a bit tighter, we might end up in bed." He uttered full of mischief but his gaze kinda made you feel alert, so you let go of his wrist and pulled yourself back in order to place a proper distance. An action that had him giggling.

"Stop changing the subject. I don't get flustered that easily. You can be as scary as you want. I will still stand in your way if you try to do anything that Jimin wouldn't like you to do." Your stern gaze didn't falter despite his annoying playfulness and subtle mockery, for certainly he was not even trying to pretend that he was taking you seriously.

" Are you sure you don't have feelings for Jimin? You sound so protective." He commented as he rested his head on the palm of his hand that had been placed atop the couch that he was leaning against.

"That is none of your business." You retorted as you crossed your arms over your chest.

"Oh doll, but it is. Don't you know that I don't have a heart of my own? All that beats within me is his. Showing so much care for him is surely getting him worked up." P3's words dripped with a hint of sinister satisfaction as he reached out to grasp your hand. Despite your instinctual resistance, his grip tightened until he placed your trembling fingers over his chest.

The thump of his heart was unmistakable, pounding beneath your touch like a frenzied drumbeat.

As you tried to pull away, he held on tighter, a sly smile creeping across his face. "You see? I'm not lying," he taunted, relishing over the fact that he had proved you wrong in a mere second for even if you were to deny it again, he could see all over your face that he had gotten you flustered.

You still did your best to appear nonchalant as you retrieved your hand and subtly cleared your throat, in order to give yourself some time to collect your focus back to what was important.

"If you didn't want to talk, you could have said so from the start, instead of wasting my time here playing games. You do know that I need some rest, don't you?"

"I have not been the one holding you back, doll. Admit it, you just like my company." He allowed a smirk to surface on his lips and you instantly scoffed at his words.

"Please, don't have such a big idea of yourself. I am only staying around because I can't trust you to be on your own."

"See, so you do agree with me. You don't trust me, hence I don't trust you. Perfect balance." He somehow had turned the conversation around, letting you know that you were in his eyes just as unpredictable as he was in yours.

"Fair enough...but still...I am not known to be dangerous in any way, nor I am known to be manipulative-"

" Just because you aren't known, that doesn't mean that you are not any of those things Y/N." He disrupted your words making you grow a bit annoyed.

"I have never done -"

"Just because you have not done any acts to prove you manipulative or dangerous, that doesn't mean you are not. There are many crimes in the world that are not known just because of lack of proof, but that doesn't make them nonexistent." He cut you off again, countering one more objection you had against the unrealistic fears that were leading you to be not trusted by him.

"You know what, forget it. I don't care if you trust me or not." You retorted with a bit of anger in your tone of voice as you stood up. "You are more confusing than P1. He was the manipulative one yet even he had fewer trust issues than you."

"That's because he is around way more than me. He had no reason to have trust issues. He is the embodiment of them." P3 followed your movements and stood tall before you.

"More around? I have met him only once." You uttered and for some reason, P3 started laughing aloud as if you had spoken the most hilarious thing ever.

"What's so funny?"

"Oh doll, and you said that you had him all figured out. You are clueless." He sneered,  as he shot you a taunting glance.

"What's that supposed to mean?" You raised an eyebrow at him and he kept an annoying belittling smile on his face.

"I know more than enough, you know. I know about Jimin's first personality break which is P1, and I know about P2 which is the second and you that appeared at the end and I know the characteristics of every single one of you. And I know that the other characters Jimin gets lost in aren't his personalities, it's just-" The urge to prove your knowledge had gotten your tongue rolling but for some reason when you reached the part where you had to explain why Jimin gets lost into the characters that he had once played when they are not part of his three personalities, your mind hit a blank.

You clearly remembered the first time that he had become someone else before your eyes. In that hotel room where you had returned and found him tied up with the bedsheets. Back then he was definitely neither of his personalities but he wasn't himself either. Jin had said something about these cases, but apparently, your memory had not retained that, making you appear ignorant at this moment that you were trying to prove the exact opposite.

"There are no other characters Jimin gets lost in, doll."

"Of course there are. Roles that he has played through the years of his acting career."

"Don't make me laugh. I know all there is to know and I am telling you, there's no such thing."

"But I saw-" You halted your tongue as your mind started spiralling over the issue.

P3 really knows more about Jimin than anyone else could and he was known to be many things but not a liar. Even at that moment that you were observing him, he didn't seem like he was trying to pull a joke on you. However, if his claim was true, then you were left with two options. One where Jimin is the liar and had been pretending to get lost in the roles he plays and one where he really does get lost.

If it was the second, then according to P3's words right now, that would mean that one of his three personalities is responsible for the loss of Jimin in the characters he has played as.

"He is the master manipulator, doll. P1 wants to live more than the rest of us. I bet he made you think that it was the first time you were meeting with him, didn't he." P3 chuckled at the thought and only while you just stared at him dumbfounded. For certainly you had not been expecting to find out such a thing.

"He lies so much, he can fool his own self, doll. P3 is certainly a fun mess."

"P3?" Your mind got stuck on the name he uttered, for you knew him as P3 and so far you thought that you were talking about P1 with P3.

"No, no, don't let your mind run wild. I am not P1 pretending to be P3. It's just that whoever named us, did it wrong and it annoys me sometimes." P3 clarified as he guessed that you might go ahead of yourself and start over questioning things unnecessarily.

It could be reasonably easy to find yourself unable to trust anything after hearing how much you had already been played by P1.

"Named you wrong?...as in...you are trying to say that, you are not named in the right order?" You tried to clarify as you were aware that all of Jimin's personalities were named chronologically in the order they had surfaced.

"Exactly. I and P1 are misplaced. I am Jimin's first creation." P3 uttered seemingly looking as if he held some pride in that.

"With me, he opened the door to his escape. Insanity."
