Crows cawed from their perches in the trees above and a large, blue-skinned man grimaced at the sight, "There's more of them today."
"So there is," His partner acknowledged, his head dipping as one of the crows flew close to them and scattered birdseed around him. "Ah, I see now. Don't worry, Kisame, they've come with good messages."
Kisame looked at his partner, "This is really creepy. Good messages or not, this many crows have to be a bad omen, Itachi."
"As I said," Itachi murmured, stretching out his arm and allowing one of the crows to land on him, "You needn't worry, the omen they send isn't for us. We should stop in the nearby village as well, I've got medicine I need to pick up."
Kisame grimaced, somehow Itachi's words weren't as reassuring as they were most likely meant to be. While it was good Itachi seemed to be looking after his health it left him wondering what the crows had relayed to him that would appease him into taking care of himself.
It was a very curious matter.

Aina ate at a slow pace, listening to her brother and father argue about matters concerning the clan. Her thoughts wandered back to her vision. The raging black flames coupled with lightning that was everywhere and nowhere at once.
Future!Sasuke had sent such a powerful blast of fire into the air that it had changed the weather. It was something Aina could barely fathom. To be able to send up a blast of fire that was that hot and powerful...
But, she mused as she stuffed more pork cutlet into her mouth, he had become some sort of monster to be able to do that.
She didn't dare ponder on the fact that Itachi, who was perfectly human, had sent out those black flames. She didn't dare think about the way he had doubled over with a hand on his chest. And she tried with not to worry about the blood she had seen him cough into his other hand.
Her mother had told her once, when she was younger and helping a kitten find its way back home, that she had a heart too big for the world of shinobi.
Aina understood what she meant now more than ever.
"Aina, are you listening?" Her father asked, frowning at her. "We were just asking you about your team, who are they?"
Aina set her chopsticks down and sighed, "My team consists of myself, Uchiha Sasuke, Inuzuka Kiba, and Hatake Kakashi."
Her father scowled fiercely, "They gave you friend killer Kakashi as a sensei? And that damn Uchiha brat as a teammate? I'll have the Hokage's hat for this, purposely putting my daughter on a team that'll draw danger—"
"Father," Aina snapped out, "Sasuke-San is a trustworthy individual and so is Hatake-Sensei. I would trust my life in their hands."
"You'd trust a criminal with your life, Aina!" Her father roared from across that table, "You're just like your mother! You'd trust the Uchiha clan, those who killed your own family members? And that Hatake boy has a reputation too, every teammate he's ever had is dead."
"Sasuke has nothing to do with the Uchiha who killed our clan members!" Aina cried, her fists slamming against the tabletop, "That was years ago! Back when the Usagi clan was still affiliated with Kirigakure! You can't blame a boy, whose entire family is dead, for the actions his clan made in the past!"
"You know nothing of what I can and can't do! You are a child Aina!"
"Oh? So you're going to go threaten the Hokage because your daughter, who is a capable shinobi, by the way, is in danger? Oh wow! It's almost like she signed up to be a goddamn soldier!"
"I won't have you talk to me this way, Airi!"
Aina froze before anger turned to exhaustion, "I see. Even now you look at me and only see mother. I'll be going now, don't expect me back for a while, I have team business I need to attend to."
"Aina—" Aina's father stood up but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"Let her go, father," His son murmured. "You've done enough damage for the night."
The man watched numbly as both of his children left him alone in the dining area. The candles lighting the room flickered ominously and the picture of four happy people seemed to mock him.
He wanted his wife back.
—
Aina sighed as she sat in the tree behind the academy, staring up at the stars in between the branches.
"Hey, Aina," A voice called from below, "Did you and your dad have a fight again?"
"Hey Naruto," Aina greeted, "Yeah. We were arguing about clan stuff."
"That's what you always say," Naruto said, sitting on the swing attached to the branch she was sitting on. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
"No, did your team pass?"
"Yeah, Kurenai-Sensei is pretty cool. She uses genjutsu just like you do, she said Sakura is a natural."
"That's good, my team passed. My sensei is always late though and Kiba and Sasuke get on like a house and fire."
Naruto laughed, "Tell me about it at my house?"
Aina smiled, "Sure."
—
The world twisted dangerously and she found herself alone in a hotel room with Naruto.
He was playing around with a balloon, pouting dramatically as he failed whatever it was he was trying to do.
A knock on the door made her tense but Naruto answered without hesitation. A very bad thing for a shinobi to do.
She stared at the two men, one was definitely Itachi and the other was incredibly tall with blue skin.
"Hello," Itachi murmured and Aina almost swooned. Sasuke had never mentioned the fact that Itachi was painfully attractive, and when she had seen him in the last vision she had been too focused on the fight than his looks. "We're here for the kyuubi jinchuriki."
Naruto took a step back, eyes wider than ever before, "You got the wrong room, believe it."
The blue-skinned man grinned, but it was more of a baring of teeth too sharp to be normal, "Nah kid, I think we got it just right."
She watched in horror as Itachi's eyes spun red and black and then—
Aina woke up on Naruto's couch, sweat rolling down her neck from the anxiety she had built up watching her vision unfold. They had kidnapped Naruto without any struggle. Whoever had been watching Naruto, because she knew that he wasn't meant to be alone and now she knew why exactly, wasn't the most responsible person.
Aina shivered and pressed her palms into her eyes, it was only two in the morning. She could already tell it was going to be a long day.
—
"Take these," Sasuke said when Aina showed up at training ground three, "Your eyes glaze over when you see things so if you have these it'll be harder for enemy shinobi to tell you aren't paying attention."
She caught the goggles he tossed at her in confusion, opening her mouth to retaliate only to freeze.
(A masked man stood on the head of the kyuubi, staring down at the village he had once called his home. They had let his Rin die, they let the man who killed her wander free while she was stuck in the clutches of death.
He couldn't forgive them for what they had done.
Even if he had once loved this man and woman as one might love a mother and father he knew he had to do this.
He knew that it was all according to Madara's plan.)
She stared at the goggles in her hands and, even though her hands were shaking terribly, put them on, "Thank you, Sasuke."
The Uchiha hesitated, "Are you sure you want to keep them, you just had a vision from touching them. I thought it was only living things?"
"I only see the future of living things," Aina replied, "But by touching an object a person was strongly attached to I can see that person's past or future. Whose goggles were these?"
"They belonged to Shisui's brother, Obito Uchiha. He died back in the third war when he was really young, our age I think."
Aina thought back to the masked man who she had been standing beside. She had a feeling this Obito person wasn't as dead as everyone thought. "I see, thank you again, Sasuke."
Sasuke nodded, "Come spar with me."
Aina laughed as she followed him, "When you say it like that it's like you're ordering me around, Sasuke-San."
Sasuke shrugged his shoulders and got into position, "Yeah whatever, you look like an even bigger loser now."
Aina grinned, "Good, I've never been the type for fashion statements anyways but orange and purple go together pretty well."
"The dark blue makes it look weird though," Sasuke mused as he swung a punch at Aina, "Though it's close enough to your hair colour that it doesn't make a big difference."
"Ohh, Sasuke the fashion expert. Who'd have thought."
Sasuke scowled and kicked her in the side. Aina went with the movement, flipping sideways she rushed him with a flurry of jabs that, "Just because I understand the colour wheel and you don't doesn't mean I'm a fashion expert," He ducked under one of her overhand rights and winced when her other fist dug into his stomach, "It just means I'm smart."
Aina paused and shook out her fist, "Do you have abs?"
Sasuke stopped what he was doing and rose an eyebrow, "Why?"
"Because literally no other guy our age has abs? What the hell Sasuke-San, how much core training do you do? You're literally twelve and I could feel your abs, even if it's not fully developed."
Sasuke scowled, "Can we just get back on track?"
"Uh, no," Aina grinned, "You have abs, I want to see them."
"No."
"Fine," Aina sniffed, "We're doing this the hard way then."
"What are you talking about?" Sasuke hissed, "Just train with me."
"Oh I'll train with you, Sasuke-San," Aina said, a dangerous glint in her eyes, "How good are you at avoiding people?"
Sasuke swallowed thickly and stepped back from Aina.
Two hours later Kakashi, Kiba and Akamaru found the two of them soaking wet and muddy. Sasuke's shirt was torn in places and Aina looked like she had fought a campfire and lost.
"We never speak of this," Sasuke hissed.
"Agreed," Aina murmured, pulling a twig from her ponytail, "So Hatake-Sensei, what's the plan for today?"
"Today you'll be doing teamwork exercises," Kakashi drawled, pulling out a couple of ropes, "And while doing these exercises you'll be completing D-rank missions. It's called multitasking."
"A mission?" Kiba perked up as he took the ropes and passed one to Sasuke, "What are we going to be doing?"
"Well," Kakashi mused, watching as the two boys tethered themselves to their female teammate, "You can either paint fences, weed gardens or, and get this, clean and sort the weapons in the genin corps division."
"Why don't we do it all?" Aina suggested, "We have to complete a certain amount before we can take a C-rank, right?"
"Smart girl," Kakashi praised. "Yes, you can do them all. You need thirty D-ranks before you can take a C-rank and Akamaru will be training with my ninken!"
"The dog is getting more physical training then we are," Sasuke said, his eyes narrowing on Akamaru who disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
Kakashi clapped his hands together, "All right team seven, let's move out!"
"Okay, Hatake-Sensei!"
