Chapter 30
"Honestly, the one time I actually get chance to study and you two idiots end up at the hospital and I have to come and babysit you so you don't get into anymore trouble?? I mean, what were you thinking?"
"We were trying to keep Scott's lacrosse captain status." My brother mumbled.
"You put a kid in hospital!"
"If you ask me, he deserved it. Even thought it was an accident. Little runt. Thinking he could just come in and-"
I cut my brother off. "That is the problem! You make these stupid misconceptions about people. You never actually give anybody a chance."
"Well, I'm sorry I can't be more like you two." He grabbed his bag and stood up.
I groaned. "Where are you going?"
"I promised Malia I'd help her study. And she's a lot better company than you."
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."
"I want to check on Liam anyway." Scott shrugged.
"Hey, I don't need to say that this wasn't your fault, right?" Stiles double checked.
"I don't know."
He sighed. "Scott, if you had used any wolf power that kid wouldn't be limping. He'd be crawling. Back to the other half of his body"
"If I hadn't been so worried about being captain he wouldn't be hurt either" Scott pointed out.
"It's okay to want something for yourself once in a while. Team captain, Alpha werewolf. You're still only human."
My brother left shortly afterwards, ignoring me completely.
I turned to face Scott. "Hey, are we okay?" I questioned, thinking back to what happened in Mexico. Things haven't felt the same since.
"Yeah, why?" He asked, frowning at me.
"It's just- what happened in Mexico. We never got to talk about it. And I'm so sorry about what happened and I just hope you're not mad because I'm just so sorry Scott, I feel so awful."
"Hey, you don't need to be sorry." he said, taking my smaller hand in his. "It wasn't your fault."
"I feel responsible."
"Alex." he shifted his body to face me properly. "Stop worrying about it. I'm not mad at you. We're okay. I love you."
I smiled as he placed a gentle kiss on my forehead.
"I love you too, Scott"
I heard the sound of a phone buzzing and Scott fumbled in his pocket to pull his out.
"Hey, Lydia." he said.
"Where are you?" I heard her frantically yell. Scott pulled the phone away from his ear and put it on speaker. "I couldn't call I couldn't get away from the deputy." she rambled.
"Okay, slow down-" Scott started.
"You need to get to the hospital" she cut him off. "You need to get there right now. The son, the only one who survived." she gulped. "He's there."
"So are we." Scott replied. "We're at the hospital too."
"Then find him!" She exclaimed. "Find Sean Walcott."
Scott looked at me as he hung up the phone and I saw the terror in his eyes.
Without hesitation, he sprinted down the hall, bursting through the doors.
"Scott!" I yelled, running after him.
"Hold the doors!" He shouted as he skidded to a halt by the lift just before the doors slammed shut.
He looked around until his eyes landed on me.
"Stay here."
I couldn't even mutter a response because I was so out of breath.
Scott took off running again and I muttered a string of profanities before following him.
Stupid supernatural creatures and their insanely heightened abilities.
As I headed up the stairs, two at a time, I heard screaming.
I quickened up the pace but a roar made me stop in my tracks.
Shaking my head out of the trance, I rounded the corner and stopped behind Scott.
There was a creature with blood smeared all over his mouth stood beside Melissa.
Scott charged at Sean as his mom dived out of the way.
The two of them fell to the floor and I quickly headed over to Melissa, making sure she was okay.
There was a crash beside us and Scott fell to the floor. In a flash, Sean had gone.
I took Melissa's hand and helped her up.
"I'm okay, I'm alright." she reassured.
"Are you sure?" Scott double checked.
"Go get that son of a bitch."
~
"Alex? Alex, are you okay?" Melissa waved her hand in front of my face.
"Wh-what was that thing?" I choked out.
"I don't know but it wasn't human. And it wasn't a werewolf. "
A sudden spark of realisation hit me. "Then neither was it's family."
"I guess not?" Melissa looked confused.
"The money." I blurted. "Peter's money disappears the same night an axe murderer kills almost a whole supernatural family. That can't be just a coincidence?"
"What do you mean?"
"Maybe someone payed someone to kill this whole family. Which means they're going to be after Sean. What if someone's paying people to kill supernaturals?"
"Alex." Melissa took a deep breath, facing me. "If somebody is after the supernaturals does that include Scott?"
"Shit." I started to move but Melissa tugged me back.
"Alex, stop. Think about this. You might run into Sean. And you can't just hope and pray that Scott will turn up like he usually does. Just take a deep breath and think rationally before you do anything stupid."
I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath, like Melissa had said. "I need to find him. I just- I have this feeling. Like something bad is going to happen. The last time I had a gut feeling like that, Allison died. Melissa, I can take care of myself. I have to do this. I have to find Scott."
I was running down the corridor before she could even reply.
There were spots of blood on the floor and I followed the trail. It stopped by the stairs. There was a huge blood smear on the wall.
I sprinted, two steps at a time again, until I came to the door leading to the roof.
Scott was there. Sean was holding the freshman, Liam Dunbar, about to throw him off the roof.
"Alex-" Scott turned to face me. "Alex, go."
I shook my head, keeping my eyes on Sean.
"You don't need to do this. We're not the enemy." I said. "We can help you."
"No you can't!"
"Let me help you." Scott said.
"Wendigos don't need help, we need food!"
Sean let go of Liam and I saw him start to fall to the edge of the roof.
Scott launched forwards, knocking Sean to the side and reaching over to the roof to help the freshman up.
I started forwards but Sean locked eyes with me.
I looked around to try and find some sort of weapon but there was nothing.
Sean grabbed me, holding his arm around my neck. I slammed my elbow backwards, hoping to weaken his grip.
He pushed me towards the edge of the roof and I felt myself falling backwards until my hands found something to hold on to.
Sean had headed over Scott and was trying to tug him away from Liam.
Once I'd regained my balance, I made a choice.
I ran towards Sean, knocking him off Scott and to the roof floor. I fell beside him but I wasn't quick enough to get up. He grabbed me again and this time he pushed me with great force towards a wall.
My back hit the wall first, knocking all the air from me. And then my head slammed against it, causing darkness to evade my vision.
The last thing I heard were Liam's screams of pain and Scott shouting my name.

Third Person POV.
"The injury she sustained to her head caused her brain to swell and bleed." Melissa McCall informed the worried people who were stood around Alexa Stilinski's bed.
Everybody seemed to be in shock. The room was silent for a few moments, the only thing being heard was the beeps from all the machines Alex was hooked up to.
"She'll be okay though, right?" Stiles Stilinski asked.
His whole face had drained of colour and he was paler than usual. The main emotion engulfing him was worry but also guilt as he remembered their argument back at the hospital. All he could do was hope and pray that they weren't the final things they said to each other.
"She hit her head incredibly hard. Um, when the brain swells due to that sort of trauma, the fluid pushes up against the skull and causes damage to the RAS." Melissa explained.
"RAS?" Malia frowned.
She didn't understand any of what Scott's mom was saying. And she also couldn't quite understand why the anxiety radiating from everybody was so extreme. Surely, Alex will just heal soon.
"Reticular Activating System." Lydia Martin replied solemnly.
The strawberry blonde was the first to realise what Melissa McCall was implying. She'd had a bad feeling as soon as she got off the phone with Scott. When she left the deputy, she drove and ended up at the hospital. Where Alex was.
"What are you saying?" Mr Stilinski finally looked up.
He was struggling to believe what had happened. He just couldn't understand. He didn't want to lose his only daughter. He'd already lost his wife.
"The RAS is responsible for awareness. Right now, she's unresponsive. And we've been unable to awaken her by any stimulation." Melissa said slowly, her eyes wandering between every person.
She was doing her best to hold it together too. Delivering news like this to anybody is awful enough. But delivering news about somebody you care about to people you know is even worse.
She kept thinking back to when she let Alex go after Scott. If she'd stopped her, none of this would have happened.
"I'm so sorry."
Scott, who had been quiet the whole time, was the first to let silent tears fall down his face. He was numb, call it disbelief. He didn't want to believe that the girl he loved was in a coma and may never regain consciousness again.
He blamed himself. He was there. He should have done something. He should have known.
Nobody wanted to lose her.
For now, it was a waiting game.
End of Book 1

I am legit Satan.
Okay, so that's the end of White Lies.
As you know, I was really struggling to write for season 4 and my friend helped me come up with this idea as a way to end it. Sorry about the cliffhanger though lmao whoops.
I'm going to be writing a book 2 but I think I'm gonna wait until all of Season 5B has aired so I can really figure things out.
Thank you for sticking with this story. It really isn't my best work because I just totally wasn't into writing season 4. I'm really excited to start writing season 5 though and I hope you all continue to read the epic love story of scalex 😂
