(this chapter is completely and totally dedicated to my Mazel shipping friend KoolKen04 so yeah)
The best way to celebrate was with Nelly, Dave, and Tessa, so we went to their house.
Apollo tried to play with Tessa and discovered that he was a little too sophisticated.
"So." Nelly says, popping a jelly bean from the bowl on the counter into her mouth. "Are you guys dating yet?"
Mylo choked on his water. "Uh, no, why?"
She smirks. "Just wondering."
"How's the bakery?" I ask Dave, desperate to change the subject.
"It's alright." He says, putting the cake in the oven.
"That's good." I say.
Nelly smirks at me. "Have you guys even, like, kissed?"
"Once or twice." Mylo says.
I smack him in the chest.
"Oh my lord, you guys are so cute." She says, smiling really big. "Thanks." I murmur, glaring playfully at Mylo.
He sticks his tongue out at me.
"So how's Hades?" Dave asks.
"You mean my dad? He's alright, I guess." I say, fiddling with my fingers.
Dave turns to focus on the frosting, while Nelly takes small bits on her fingers and eats it.
I turn to Mylo and catch his gaze. He turns away and blushes.
Then I realize I'm blushing too.
***
I stand infront of the bed that Mylo was sitting on, a comfortable silence looming the air.
"I'm sorry about Nelly." He says, looking sincere.
"It's alright." I say, untwisting my hair from its braid, letting it fall onto my shoulders.
"She wasn't like this with me and Sarah." He says.
"Can we not talk about your ex-girlfriend?" I ask.
He cocks his head. "Why?"
"Because we kissed and it's obvious we're more than friends." I say.
"Are we more than friends, because we only ever seem to act like friends." He challenges.
"If you only want to be friends, you say the word." I retaliate.
"The thing is, I don't want to be friends." He says. "I want to be more than that."
"Well so do I." I say.
"Why aren't we?" He asks. "Are you scared?"
"I'm not a pansy, Mylo." I murmur, walking to the wall, suddenly mesmerized with the paint.
"I dunno Haz, you're not exactly the bravest." He says.
"Well, neither are you." I say. "I may even be braver than you."
"Yeah, whatever floats your goat." He says.
The bed creaks slightly when he stands.
"So you think you're braver than me?" I ask turning to him.
Mylo has been silent for as long as I remember, but he was brought up a warrior.
He was a few inches from me, I have to tilt my head upward to look into his eyes.
"Darlin', I know I am braver than you." He grins softly. He almost sounded drunk, but he doesn't drink so that wasn't the case.
"Prove it." I say, my challenging side coming out, even though my cheeks are covered lightly with a pink blush.
He places a hand gently on my shoulder, pushing me against the wall. "I plan to."
Then we're kissing, like actually kissing, not that soft testy stuff we'd done.
His hand was cupping the back of my head, his long fingers weaved into my hair, the other hand was against the wall.
My hands grab his cotton shirt.
My heart aches with emotion, only increasing when he pulls away.
"Good enough for you pa-" He starts.
"Shut up and kiss me fool."
All I can say is he fulfilled that wish and much more.
***
"Nell, I think Hazel and Mylo's bed has bedbugs." Apollo says, shoving a pancake in his mouth.
"Why do you think that?" She asks, cutting up Tessa's pancake.
"They have bites all over their necks." He says.
Nelly whizzes around to face the door, which we both stood in.
"Yeah, I think the bed has bugs." Mylo says, helping himself to a few pancakes.
Nelly smirks proudly. "I might have to get those checked out." Nelly says, touching her neck.
"Yeah, she was on the worse side." Mylo says, pointing at me.
I lean against the doorway. "Yeah, sure."
Apollo rubs his lightly freckled cheek. "Also, your bedhead is out of this world."
Mylo combs through his hair with his fingers. "Your bed head's not much better, munchkin."
Apollo sticks his tongue out at him.
"You hungry, Hazel?" Dave asks from the oven.
I shake my head. "I'm not big in breakfast, I'm a lunch girl."
"Ah." He says, going back to the pancakes.
I walk over and sit next to Mylo, who grins widely at me.
"So, how'd you sleep?" Nelly asks, putting extra emphasis on the word 'sleep.'
"It was comfortable. Thanks for asking." Mylo says quickly. "Besides, I feel like you wouldn't want all of the details."
