Mylo's healing process was going perfectly and in order. He was walking now, a slow gait but it would soon speed up.
Apollo was happy, for the first time in forever, he acted somewhat like a normal kid, asking questions about every little thing, and playing with Dave lots.
I was fine, finally adapting to the normal nontorturing life.
"Hazee?" Mylo asks from behind me.
I turn and cock my head, as if I was asking 'What?'
"I thought you were sad, you seemed zoned." He says.
I smile at him. "I'm just thinking, do you wanna sit?" I ask, gesturing to the barstool next to me at the breakfast bar.
He plops down next to me. "It's not gonna last."
"What?" I ask.
"This happiness, I can feel the uncomfortable headaches forming, I wanna fight, get back out there, and most importantly, back to earth, so I can see if someone towed the Impala." He rambles.
"Relax." I request, grabbing his hand, lacing our fingers together.
He takes a deep breath and smiles at me. "Thanks." He leans in and places a kiss on my nose.
"Besides, it's like the first time ever that Apollo's acted normal, so let's just bask in the joy for right now." I smile.
He smiles back.
Tessa walks into the room, dragging Apollo by the ear.
"Let me go!" He huffs, flailing his arms trying to hit her.
"Stay out of my room you little mutant!" She says, pushing him to a bar stool.
Apollo crosses his arms. "I'm not a mutant, you're a mutant! Have you seen your ears!?"
"Have you seen your horns or your wings?" Tessa fires back.
"Yeah, I have, that's cool and all but at least my blood is red!"
Mylo and I exchange a look.
"How did you know?" Tessa asks, her voice quiet now.
Apollo shrugs. "I read your diary, you don't have a very interesting life."
Tessa gasps and slaps Apollo on the head. "Stay out of my stuff, twerp!"
Mylo starts laughing, holding his stomach, his forehead down on the bar.
"It's not funny!" She grumbles, storming out of the room.
Apollo hops on the bar stool next to Mylo's. "So when are we leaving?"
"Tomorrow I'm hoping." Mylo answers.
I put a hand on his bicep. "We're not in a rush to go, you should take your time."
He gives me a small smile. "I'm getting better already, I know how to handle myself."
I smile at him and scruff his white hair. "I like taking care of you." I look over at Apollo. "The both of you."
Apollo grins at me, finally looking euphoric.
"And I like watching over you." Mylo says, squeezing my hand.
I clear my throat. "How's your walking?"
"Good, still slow, but good." Mylo answers.
"If it's still slow maybe we should stay." Apollo says.
"You guys both act like if we leave we're gonna fight Satan or something." Mylo looks over at me. "Even though that may happen, because your dad and everything."
I throw my head back and groan. "Please don't talk about it!"
"Well isn't that rude?" The familiar voice of my father rings through the room.
I face forward and lock eyes with him. "Get out."
"I"m your father, I have to stay and watch over you." He says, smirking.
"Somebody get me a bible." I murmur.
"Be respectful, or I'll whip you." He threatens.
"I've had worse than whipping." I say.
"Ah yes, sorry about that, I'll feed you to the hell hounds." He threatens, once again.
I scoff. "Don't you have some like, bigger plan for me?"
"Eh, I can get Noah to do it." He shrugs.
I laugh dryly. "Noah can't do anything, he's a revenge driven freak with zero depth."
He was silent for a moment, giving me a look-over. "I guess I'll be going."
"Bye." I say, turning back to Mylo, who was frozen.
"Oh by the way, you blacked out." Father says.
"You little--"
My father snaps, and I awake.
I awake in the passenger seat of the impala, leaned up against the cold glass.
It was snowing, the road covered in a glossy ice sheen.
I reach up and buckle my seat belt.
"Are you awake?" Mylo asks from the drivers seat.
I look over at him and nod.
"Are you okay?" He asks. "You blacked out again, Dave wanted to make a weird healing remedy, but I wouldn't let him."
I nod sleepily, looking towards the backseat.
Apollo was sprawled across the 3 seats, seat belts unbuckled so he could have maximum comfort. His eyes were closed, and his lips slightly parted.
My heart gives a loving squeeze as I face back forward. "How long was I out?"
"A few hours." Mylo answers.
"Then why aren't we back at Nell and Dave's?"
"We escaped in the dark of the night."
I roll my eyes. "Don't make it sound dramatic, you opened a portal and left Nelly and Dave with a heart attack."
He nods. "Exactly."
We drive for a while in complete silence.
"Are you mad?" Mylo asks.
I shake my head. "No, just, thinking."
"About?"
"My dad was in the dream thing I had when I blacked out, and he said that whatever job he has for me, could easily be completed by Noah. But that leaves me with two questions, What's My job? And How can Noah do it, if he's not even related to Lucifer by blood?" I ramble.
Mylo nods. "Maybe you guys have similar powers, like you two can both move stuff telepathically or something."
I reach up subconsciously and grab a hold on my necklace. "Maybe, but my powers should be so much more strong than his, right?"
"Not necessarily, his have had more time to grow and develop, and your's are new, you'd have to train somehow." He answers.
"But who in the heck could train me magically, you did wonderfully physically, but I don't think you would do as well magically." I look over at Mylo.
He turns his head and meets my gaze. "We could always ask Lucifer."
"How could he help?" I ask.
"He gave you those powers, you have to remember that." Mylo says.
I turn forward and see the headlights of a truck coming at us.
