Jai kept his specs aside and wiped his face with a sigh. He was drawing plan for a shopping mall. The lines and curves with precise measurements drawn on the paper infront of him was as sharp as his jawline.
He tapped the mechanical pencil on his chin, scanning the plan for flaws with the vision of a hawk.

"Mark a 2 inch there" his mind said while his pencil followed.

He looked at the direction of his phone which was on the table beside the glowing screen of his iMac. Keeping the pencil and scale aside, he followed to the table.

His face smiled instantly as he saw two notifications from his "bangaram❤️😘" right from the lock screen.

Jai unlocked it and went through the chats.

"Bavu..you forgot to take the grocery list i kept on the table. I've send you a picture of the list. If you have time while returning from office, buy these"

"Okay. Done..baby. What's our munchkins doing?😄"

He drank some water waiting for her message.

Jai's smile widened seeing a video in which babies were crawling on the carpet.

"Our loves...can't wait to take them in my arms😍...btw nuvvem chestunnaru, bangaruu? (What are you doing?)"

She sent him a picture of her sitting on the couch of living room crocheting a sweater.

His eyes widened seeing it.

"Wait...show me what you're wearing ?🧐"

Jai couldn't concentrate on his work anymore. He checked the time. 4.30 pm.

"Aish..one more hour to go ! And groceries after that. She is really pushing my limits😮‍💨"

"Yeah come in"

"What's it, Rajesh ?"

"Sir, you need to check these and sign"

"Alright. Keep those files on the table. I'll do that"

He kept as said.

"Did you talk with the house owner in Vizag ? What's he saying ?"

"He is double okay, sir"

"Hmm. Let's visit the construction site after a week and explain it to workers"

"Okay, sir"

"How is Kishore now ? Is he doing good ?"

"Yes... much better sir. After you enlightened him🤭"

Jai chuckled.

"That's good. Anyways I'll be going home early after signing these. The plan for shopping mall is in progress. You check it the next day and inform me if there are any flaws"

"Sure sir"

"You may go, then"

They gave a drooly smile at her which meant something like "Yeah go on mamma. Dadda is in our team🤤" and played with rattles.

Vennela shook her head smiling.

"You both are so so notorious😂" She reached towards them and blew raspberries on their paunch.

"Let me eat both of you... muah muah.. so cute and delicious babies.😘😘😘😘😘😘"

They squealed, laughed non stop and tried to stop her, holding her face and hair in their tiny palms.

"Okay..okay...Amma stopped.. calm down you both...😆😘😘"  she gently caressed their tummies.

"It's so much of raining, babies. Nana told he is coming after buying things. Let's wait for him"

Just then, a familiar sound of car horn was heard. Babies recognised the sound fast and started jumping in her arms.

"Arey.. we are going to nana only. You both are so excited, aren't you ?"

They squealed showing their excitement and urge to see their father. They were so accustomed to the sound of his car, bike and time.

Vennela adjusted babies on either sides of her hips and opened the door. Jai walked out of the car holding the bags. Babies made excited sounds.

He removed his shoes and smiled wide seeing his excited munchkins. Every tiredness he held, vanished into thin air, seeing the giggling bundles of joy as he took them onto his arms.

"My babies ...😘😘😘😘😘😘" he smothered kisses on both of their cheeks as they curled up like a ball laughing hard feeling the pricking of their nana's stubble.

Vennela shook her head smiling leaving the babies with their father and took the bags to the kitchen.

He locked the door behind him once he got inside. Sitting on the couch, he started talking with babies.

"How was your day, munchkins? Mamma was complaining that you made her run so much. Is it true ?🤨" He asked with pretending a fake frown, fake seriousness.

Babies giggled extending their tiny palms to touch his face.

"You both... muah muah😘😘" He kissed their chubby bun like arms.

"Bava...you freshen up and come no. I'll get the tea ready for you. You leave babies on the carpet"

"Okay. I'll"  He spent few minutes with babies and went to clean himself.

Vennela arranged the coffee, fresh cut fruits and some fresh vegetable croquettes she made for him.
She adjusted her french braid and looked down at her overall appearance.

"Hmm....presentable😏" she mumbled and smirked.

"Someone is going to have a hard time...🙈"she blushed while adjusting her hip chain deliberately and lowered the saree towards her lower abdomen, exposing her belly button and the fading stretch marks of her delivery.

Jai was in the living room with their babies- cooing them,  talking in cute voices, kissing and rocking them. Vennela smiled wide watching it. She walked towards them and kept the tray of food on the table.

Jai looked above taking in the view of his wife. His eyes widened in astonishment.

She took the babies from his arms and sat on the chair taking them onto her lap.

"What's in that ?" He took the lid off a small ceramic jug.

She didn't not face him. Her face flushed like a tomato and looked around trying not to maintain eye contact with her husband.

"You only said...you love ...extra milk in your coffee...and ....🙈"

Jai smiled wider and a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes.

"And ?"

"And...I.. lots of milk was in the fridge, it shouldn't go wasted also... so...I thought..."

"You thought ?"

"Bava !!😖 Can you not ask me more questions and drink it, otherwise I'll donate it somewhere!"  She sound irritated at his useless interrogation.

"Sure, my love...😉😂" he giggled a rich sound.

"That's why the coffee is extra tasty today"

He extended the cup towards her.

She shook her head abruptly.

Meanwhile babies yawned and got cranky.
They have been awake since a while now. The crawling, squealing and smiling took all of their energy.

"Bava I'll make them sleep. You keep those in the kitchen once you're done"

"Had atteya been here, she would have thought why are you always taking me to the bedroom ?🤭"

"She won't...instead she would have encouraged us to give more ammu and rishu😉"

She twisted his ears playfully.

The delicious aroma of Vennela's special biriyani wafted through the air as he came to the kitchen taking their phones and the baby monitor.

Vennela, dressed up in cute bunny pyjama-shirt set was serving everything into respective bowls and casseroles.

"Why didn't you wake me up, baby ?" Jai walked in wearing pants and vest.

"Because you were tired"

"And you weren't?"

"Not that. I meant you were at office whole day so....can you help me bring those dishes to the dining table ?"

"Why ? we can eat here in the kitchen no"

"You want to eat here ?"

"Yeah. I'd love to"

"Then sit here☺️" She kept the dishes on the table in the kitchen and sat beside him.

She served him first.

"Ummm...wow...yummy..looks delicious baby...😍🤤"

Vennela chuckled and served him two extra leg pieces, some raita and her special coriander chutney.

Jai as an excited kid who got a candy bag, made a morsel. He brought it near his wife's mouth.

"Arey! you have no bava"

"No. You first. Open aaa.."

"Umm..only with gravy ok.. "

"I know right"

She smiled and opened her mouth, he fed her a morsel.
She too did the same.

"This is the best biriyani ...yum... loved it bangaruu🤤"

"So, biriyani or me ?" She wiggled her eyebrows to tease him.

"You. Always. I'll even eat Sambar rice if I get you"

"You lovesick puppy😂" She giggled and wiped some raita stuck to his moustache.

"Anyways...let me enjoy my food😌"

"Okay your highness. Can you pass me the phone atleast now ? Let me see who called"

He passed her the phone and as she switched it on, she saw many missed calls for her neighbour "Seetha".

"Oh my god ! Bava ...Seetha called me many times😳"

"Ohh ?"

"Yes..it's so unusual"

"Then call her back no" He licked his fingers while continuing eating

"Yes. Gonna do that" She dialed her number. It rang to a missed call.

"Not taking, bava"

"Call again"

She nodded and called. Within two rings she took the call.

"Vennuuu..." a desperate cry came from the other side.

Vennela panicked and sat straight.

"What happened? Seetha tell me...😟"

"Vennu...my baby...😭" she cried hysterically.

"What happened? " Meanwhile Jai had finished his dinner and was listening to their conversation.

Vennela turned the phone to loudspeaker.

"What happened to Rinku ? Don't tense me Seetha"

"She is missing, Vennu... !! She didn't return home after school.The kids said, she wasn't in the school bus too. I don't know what to do. We complained the police and they are doing an extensive search. I'm so worried. My husband is also with the police😭"

"You..are you alone there ? Don't worry na.." her hands trembled and eyes welled up with unshed tears.

Rinku was a girl in first standard. A really chirpy one. Whenever her mom came to visit them, she tagged along with her. She always loved to visit babies and play with them. Jai uncle and Vennela aunty as she fondly calls were her favourites in the colony.

"Some neighbours have gathered at home. I called you...you to ask if Jai...could join and help ...." she asked hesitately.

"No problem at all. I'll ask bava to be there. Don't worry ok...she will be perfectly alright"

She disconnected the call.

"Bava.." she held his hands. It was cold as ice.

"Hey... bangaruuu...don't tense ok ? He hugged and rubbed her back trying to give her some peace.

"Please help her bava. Bring her. I cannot think of ...🥺😰"

She couldn't complete her words.

"Ssshhh...nothing will happen to her. Ok ?" He tried to assure her as well as him too.

"In this rain, at this hour...will you be alright baby? There is no one here"

"No problem at all bava. Don't worry. Please help them. I'm regretting more...she had called many times and we couldn't..." she bursted out in tears.

"Relax..." he hugged her.

"Ok then..I'll drop you at Seetha's home. Cannot let you be here so late"

"That will be great, bava. I can console her too. Otherwise I'll be very tensed staying here😰"

"Hmm.."

They quickly helped each other and cleaned the dishes asap. Changed into their casual wear and picked up the sleeping babies.

After locking the house, they got in the car and drove towards her home.

Vennela was mumbling prayers all the while. She hugged her babies closer to her chest.

Jai held her palm squeezing it assuring her soothing words.
