Sweat beats trickled down as the time felt slow, her breaths became ragged. She was disturbed. Her frown told it all. She clutched the bedsheet tighter...

Unknowingly tears slipped down her eyes. Vennela woke up with a start.

Jai who was sleeping, woke up suddenly switching on the bedside lamp.

She slowly looked above, a sigh escaping her lips as she hugged him tight.

He shifted her to his lap as he leaned closer to the bedpost.

Jai's heart clenched in pain and his eyes welled up too in anger and sadness. Vennela never deserved to go through such a situation. He knew that this incident had shook her to the core. Finally after a while,Vennela's sobs subsided.

"Babies are here da. See they are sleeping peacefully"

She sighed in relief clasping her palm together in a silent prayer. Jai watched her. His wife- who always had a serene face was replaced with a worry which he hated to see.

"Bangaruu..." he cupped her face and made her look into his eyes.

"Please allow me to do something. Atleast let me complain to the police😫"

Vennela shook her head fast.

"No, bava. I hope no one knows about this except us. I don't want the whole colony to know about this. They might spread the news as something else🥺" She buried her face in his neck.

He sighed. He couldn't sit idle after what had happened to his sweetheart.

"I won't let anything happen to you. See, you are stronger than you could imagine. Lifting an 86kg man like me, you are no less than a fighter" He tried to ease the tension.

"You know what. My baby is so strong that she can beat the shit out of anyone"

"I...I don't know...😓"

"You are my strong lady. We need to dust off some skills you have"

"Skills?" She looked at him confused.

Jai wiped her tears and pecked her both cheeks.

"You know...self defense"

"Umm... I don't know any of that"

"I'm going to train you. From tomorrow. If anyone comes in front of you, you can go from super demure to fight mode"

"Really ?"

"Yes darling😄"

Her eyes brightened in a renewed passion.

Vennela nodded.

"He touched me. I feel like peeling off this skin😠" Her eyes blazed in fury.

Vennela nodded getting encouraged from her husband's words.

"You had already bathed several times after that"

She smiled and stayed in his arms. Then suddenly raised her head after thinking something.

Jai stifled his laugh and spooned her from behind.

"As my wife wished😂"  He slid his palm inside her tank top and played his fingers on her waist which made her squirm.

Vennela held his palm and glared back at him.

He pecked her nose tip.

"All the anger is resting here it seems😘"

She crossed her arms in front.

Jai sighed.

:Bangaruu... you need a power nap. It will make you feel better"

"I will think what to do. You couldn't make me feel better no..then close your mouth and sleep😑"

Jai felt like laughing out loud.

He pinched one of her nipple.

"Ahhh.. Dracula...😤"

"You are yet to see. I haven't even started😏"

She pretended to be asleep when he raised his hands higher and started kneading her mounds.

The morning birds chirped, their room was naturally cold today. Vennela remembered that it rained yesterday night, making the sleep so much better.

She yawned and stretched her arms. A moan escaping her lips at the soreness she felt throughout whole body. She didn't want to wake up. The bed felt so much comfortable.

Glancing at her side of the bed, she felt Jai to be seen nowhere.

Must be working out. She thought.

Babies were sleeping in the crib after waking up twice early morning.

She gathered the sheets close and smiled reminiscing the previous nights events.

"Good morning beautiful😄" Jai walked in their room in his vest and shorts making Vennela's heart skip a beat. Her husband looked undeniably extra handsome today...his wet hair after bath adding to the effect.

That's when she noticed the tray of food in his arms.

"Bava...what is all this ?😍"

"Breakfast in the bed, for my princess😉" He winked making her heart flutter.

She looked into the tray. Her eyes brightened seeing breakfast different from the traditional food. Jai prepared an english cuisine - bread toasted in butter and herbs sandwiched in egg, a bowl of desi-style pasta, fresh strawberries, apples and blueberries cut neatly in another bowl dressed in cream.

The aroma and presentation of it made her stomach grumble.

He chuckled seeing her smudged sindoor and messy hair.

"Ummm...I'm so hungry seeing all this😍 When did you get up ?"

"A little while ago. Around 6.30"

"What's the time now ?" She gasped seeing 8.30.

"I slept for so long"

"That's okay. You needed rest. And I already made breakfast. Get up. Lets have it😄"

She pouted and got up gathering her sheets.

"What's there to cover that I haven't seen anytime, baby ?😂"

"Don't be shameless from early morning" She rolled her eyes and gathered clothes from the floor.

Jai watched her disappear into the washroom as he arranged their food in the balcony. After a while, Vennela came out looking fresh.

"Sorry, I just had a quick bath😊"

Her lavender frock made his heart warm.
She smelled like summer and flowers.

"Come and sit here madam"
He pulled the chair and made her sit.

She tucked her hair behind ear and inhaled the aroma of fresh coffee.

"Mmmm..." she moaned in delight eating the special breakfast made by her husband.

"This pasta is so creamy and delicious, bava ! You are an expert when it comes to this🤩"

"I know😉"  He winked.
"I had lived in Italy for a while. So pasta was a staple there"

He fed her with a spoon and she did the same to him too.

"Bava...I love you so much😍❤️" She shifted to his lap and hugged him.

Vennela smiled and snuggled more to him. They had breakfast talking about all good things in the world.

After sometime, while helping her with the dishes, Jai said....

"I have taken next two days leave"

"Why bava ?? Anything urgent?"

"No. I just wanted to spent time with out family. It's been a hectic schedule for a while. Get ready in evening. We are going to village😊"

"Really ?😍" Her eyes widened in excitement.
"Amma will be surprised seeing us there"

"Yes. And it will make you feel better too. So I thought this is necessary😊"

She nodded and watched him with love.

Babies were awake. They were laying calm on the carpet playing with their rattles. Their parents watched them from the backyard, smiling.

"Bangaram...pass me that plantain sapling"

"Okay bava....😊" she dusted off her palm and gave the sapling to him.

Jai had tied a lungi over his shorts as he went for gardening with Vennela. These were the heavenly moments of home which Jai had missed a lot since few days.

He planted the sapling well.

They had their own little vegetable garden in the backyard. Fresh chillies, tomatoes, bitter gourd, lady finger, ginger, cauliflower, brinjal etc. were planted there.

Vennela hand plucked everything carefully in her vegetable basket, inspecting the damages of pests. 

She carefully adjusted the climbers on strings while Jai planted two more saplings.

"Bava, let me bring you some fresh buttermilk I've made😄"

She chirped and went inside to bring a steel tumbler of spicy buttermilk.

Jai sipped it in a go.

"This tastes perfect for this summer😋"

"And it's healthy too, bavu... "

He nodded passing the empty glass to her.

"Everything is done no ?"

"Yes..😊❤️"  both of them stood close to one another and admired the beauty of their small garden.

"Really pretty no, bava ? We can eat fresh vegetables grown here without any chemicals😍"

"Exactly😊 You took the basket ?"

"Yes already kept inside. I'll organise it soon"

He nodded smiling and washed his arms and legs before discarding the lungi on the hanger.

Jai and Vennela took babies in their arms and went inside.

"Look at these little chubby cuties... nana's babies...
Ammu rishuu...we are going to see thatha, ammamma and everyone today... are you both excited.. 😘😘😘😘"

Jai blew raspberries on both babies tummies making them giggle loud.

"Drinking amma's milk, you both have gotten so heavy😂😘😘"

"Bava !😳 What are you talking even ? What else are they supposed to have...?" she chuckled while arranging vegetables inside the fridge.

"What else? The obvious... little drunkards... I feel jealous of them sometimes...clinging to my wife always😫"

"As if you don't get time to cling to me😂"

"I do...but these munchkins gets more😗"

"Aww.. there is only one mamma no. You all have to cooperate😂" She laughed going through the things.

"Sadly yes, that's why I have my own Kutty Vennela and my miniature version ..my little prince ...😘"

"I'm sure he is going to be the centre of attraction of all girls"

"Yeah ..your son no. But I'm sure he is more handsome than you bava😌"

"That's for sure, my chub is the most handsome. What about ammu ? I think I've to resign my job inorder be her bodyguard...to protect her from boys. She is sure going to be like her mamma..drop dead gorgeous😉😘"

Babies curiously watched their nana talking.

"Haha😂 Rishu will protect her, bava. Don't worry. And babies are too small for all this ...don't you think ?" She nudged his shoulder.

"I know. I'm just telling about the future"

"You are simply getting anxious from now on, bava🤦‍♀️😂"

"What can I do when I've such beautiful kids?😘😘"

She shook her head smiling and kissed all her babies' heads. Jai- her first baby.

In evening, they got ready to head to the village. Vennela dressed up in a simple cotton salwar, Jai in his casual shirt and pants, babies in their cutest onesies. 

He bought many eatables from the bakery especially for Chinna and Pinky who used to wait for them and babies.

"Finally we are going home. I'm so happy.
😍"
Vennela chirped, gently squeezing her babies in her arms.

Jai smiled while driving the car.

"You are comfortable sitting holding them ?"

"Yes bavu.. very comfortable😊"

It was a 3 hour journey. In between she fed babies seeing them dozing. Later they were fast asleep until they reached home. Everyone gathered around them in surprise and happiness.

"You didn't even inform us when i called you, Vennu ?"

"Even I didn't know amma. It was a quick decision after bava came back from the office"

Babies woke up with the sound of that and started crying. But soon they got accustomed to the atmosphere and lots of toys attracting them, once again going back to their happy state. Everyone took turns to hold them excitedly while Jai and Vennela sat on the sofa with a wide smile on their faces seeing their happiness.
