Chapter 3: First Date
We arrive at the restaurant, the valet opening the door for me. Thanking him, Dillan comes over handing him the keys.
"Ready?" He puts his arm out to me, and I nod taking a hold of it, and we walk on in.
Fine dining indeed, was the status of this restaurant. The luxurious interior screamed expensive, and the people inside spoke wealth.
I knew Dillan had money. His accountant job wasn't just any regular kind. He is the executive director of accounting at his job. Six figures was his yearly income.
"Hi good evening. Welcome to Francisco's Luxurious Dining. How can I help you?" The hostess spoke with a slight Italian accent.
"Hi reservation under Walker. Dillan Walker." She looks through the list.
"Oh yes Mr. Walker. Your table is ready, and awaits you. This is Gideon. He will be your waiter for tonight." We thank her, and follow after the young man.
A few people look our way as we pass, and normally I would feel shy, but with the handsome man next to me, I felt confident.
He leads us to a table for two, in a more private area of the restaurant.
Dillan pulling out my chair for me.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Can I start you both off with some water?" We both nod, and he walks off.
"It's beautiful." I comment, looking around in awe.
"Indeed." I blush, realizing that he was looking at me.
-
"What was your first impression upon seeing me?" I ask and he pauses eating looking to me.
"Wow. She's even more beautiful in person." I shyly smile.
"Really?"
"Hmm. You're a very beautiful woman Carlene."
"I know." I slyly say, and he chuckles.
"What about me?"
"You're very handsome Dillan. Maybe a little too much." He laughs.
"How can I be too handsome?" I deadpan him and he laughs more.
-
"You're sister is adorable."
"Oh please don't tell her that. Her ego is already so big." He laughs.
"What about her best friend, boyfriend? Are they still together? I know you told me they were having a moment last time."
"They made up a few days after, but now their not talking again." He nods in understanding.
"I want her to be happy you know. And with someone who doesn't continue to stray her along."
"You think she'll go back with him this time?"
"I don't think so. She seems really serious this time around." He nods.
"Are your parents okay with you not being home for Christmas?"
He nods.
"My mom only asks that I call on Christmas morning, and that she gets to tell you Merry Christmas." I giggle.
"She really likes you. She's also excited to meet you."
"Me too. Maybe I can be the one to visit next time." His lips spread into a smile.
"That would be nice. I can introduce you to everyone. My little Dester is always asking when the Queen will make her appearance." Aww. Dester is the cutest little seven year old you'll ever meet. I remember when Dillan was at his younger brother's house, and he introduced me to his little nephew.
"That sounds really nice." We both smile at each other.
"Can I interest you both in anything else? Any dessert?" I look to Gideon, and then back to Dillan.
"Can I?" He leans back in his seat.
"You can order whatever you like Carlene." I shyly nod, looking over the dessert menu.
Mentally cringing at the prices again. Things are so expensive, I don't want to break his bank, even though I doubt it would, but still.
A piece of dark forest cake is $95 dollars. Is the chocolate from a rare coco tree that bears once every two years. I hear Dillan chuckling and I look up, glancing between him and the waiter.
"I didn't say that out loud right?"
"I didn't hear it if you don't want me to ma'am." He responds and I cover my face with the menu in embarrassment.
Take me now God.
-
"This tastes so good." I moan in delight, taking another bite of the delicious piece of goodness. The cake was at the center of the plate, with two stripes of milk butter to the side for design.
"I'm glad you like it." I freeze, staring at Dillan in disbelief. His gaze was a lot more intense, making me look back down at the plate, taking another bite and not moaning this time.
"Stop staring." I tell him, and he laughs, looking away.
"Sorry my lady." He replies and I feel my face turn red for the hundredth time tonight.
-
"I bought something for you?" He says taking out a small black swede box. I stare at the box with wide eyes.
"Dillan-"
"It's not a ring." I feel my anxiety calm down a bit. It's not like I don't want to get married, but we're still kinda new to all this.
"I hope you like it." He passes it to me, and I open it finding the most beautiful heart diamond necklace.
"It's beautiful Dillan." I say, taking it out.
"Let me help you out it on." He gets up, coming over to me. He helps me take off the other chain I had on, before putting on the other.
It's amazing how the chain itself is gold as well, but for some reason I feel this one was pure gold, seeing as Dillan's family had a tendency of wearing nothing but pure and genuine jewelry.
I lift the pendant with fingers, Dillan moving back to his seat.
"It's really so beautiful." His lips spread into a smile.
"I'm glad you love it."
-
We drove back to my house, our hands interlocked with each other. I still couldn't believe that he was here. It's as if I wanted time to stop if only for a moment, so I can relish in the beauty of this moment.
I couldn't stop admiring him, the way he laughs, his smile. It's like I'm seeing him for the first time. My heart...
"I love you." My eyes widen in horror, his foot slamming down on the breaks. The loud beep of a horn behind us heard, the driver passing us spitting a long line of cuss words our way.
"I'm sorry sir." He apologizes to the man, but he just flips him off. He looks back to me, my hand clasp over my mouth.
"I should pull to the side." I frantically nod yes.
"I'm sorry I just..." he chuckles.
I turn to the front, mentally scolding myself for almost getting us killed.
I hear Dillan's door opening, watching as he makes his way over to me, opening the door.
"What are you doing?" I ask him, taking his hand, getting out. He pulls me closer to him, a tender smile o his face.
"What?" I ask feeling flustered all of a sudden.
"You know.." he mutters.
"I thought I would say it first, but it's perfect either way, because I love you too Carlene Joseph. I truly do." He says, leaning down and placing the most beautiful of kisses unto my lips.
