Chapter 4

Wendy Eves and Red Stilts both belong to LillianDuncan

Third POV

Jenni was pacing outside Salem's throne room waiting for Cinder's treatment to be over.

"What is taking so long?" She muttered, "Cinder's treatments never take this long."

Suddenly the door to the throne room opened and Cinder walked out looking even more upset than when she came in.

"Cinder!" Both Jenni and Emerald exclaimed in unison.

Cinder looked up at them with a broken look in her eye.

"What happened?" Jenni asked.

Her fall maiden friend began crying and began rolling up her long sleeve. Jenni was then horrified to see that her burned left arm was gone and in its place was a Grimm arm.

"Gods...." Jenni muttered.

Cinder silently cried and started to mouth something. "I'm a monster..."

"No you're not," her friend said gently.

The raven haired young woman buried her face in her hands and sobbed.

Jenni put her arm around her, "here let's go up to your room."

Cinder nodded sadly and the two headed up to her room and sat on her bed.

Jenni was doing her best to comfort Cinder but the blue haired girl was stunned as to why Salem would do this to her. Cinder's injuries weren't really so severe that she needed an entire new arm were they?

"I'm sorry," Cinder suddenly mouthed.

Jenni looked over at her, "What?"

"I'm sorry," the fall maiden croaked out, "for dragging you into this."

Jenni clasped her friend's hands in her own, "you have nothing to apologize for. I wanted to help you. You're my best friend."

She felt Cinder lay her head on her shoulder and Jenni rubbed her back.

"Hey Cinder I've been wondering," Jenni finally said.

Cinder tilted her head indicating that she was listening.

"You seemed upset when Salem picked Watts to go to Mistral instead of you. Why is that?"

Cinder took out a notepad and began writing, "I wanted to try and escape and get back to my village. I just want to go home."

Jenni sighed sadly, "I know you do. I just don't know how I'm gonna get you out of here." Changing the subject she added, "I'll go get you some bandages to cover your Grimm arm so you don't have to look at it."

She stood up and headed to her room.

Cinder sighed sadly and started crying because she began to worry that Jenni was mad at her and she felt bad for not telling the whole truth. She also didn't tell Jenni about Wendy, her adopted mother, because she didn't want someone like Wendy to be involved with Jenni. Cinder was terrified and she didn't want something to happen to her only friend. She knew that if that cruel woman found out how much Jenni meant to her then she would definitely use that to her advantage.

Suddenly she heard the door open and a tall lanky man stepped through. He ran a hand through his red hair and he had a malicious glint in his red and green eyes.

Cinder's one eye widened in fear as the man approached her and grabbed her wrist.

"I'm so glad you can't scream," he smirked.

"What's going on in here?" Jenni asked returning to the room.

Cinder looked up at her with a grateful look in her eyes.

"Whoever you are you need to leave," the blue haired girl snapped.

The man scoffed and let go of Cinder before leaving the room.

"Alright who was that?" Jenni asked.

"Red," Cinder mouthed, "he's a bit obsessed with me. I don't know what he would've done if you hadn't come in here."

Jenni nodded and hugged her, "Of course."

She then moved Cinder's bangs aside and took off her mask revealing the scarring on her face.

Cinder quickly grabbed a pillow and put it over her face so Jenni couldn't see them.

"Cinder," Jenni said.

Cinder groaned in annoyance and moved the pillow back and she felt Jenni tuck her hair behind her burned and misshapen ear.

"I can't believe Ruby did that to you," Jenni said sadly.

Cinder looked down at her blankets, "Wendy's- I mean Salem's magic is weakened in the presence of silver eyes so the Grimm inside of me made me weak to silver eyes and I lost my left eye, my hair burned off, and my face was burned off." she mouthed.

"Wendy?" Jenni asked.

Cinder then realized her slip up and she bit her lip.

"Cinder who's Wendy?"

The young woman took a deep breath, "Wendy is Salem's strongest member... she's been the one controlling me but right now Salem is the one controlling me while Wendy is away on a long mission in Atlas."

Jenni's golden eyes widened, "that's horrible."

This just kept getting harder and harder first Salem, then Red, now Wendy. Cinder had a lot of enemies. Jenni said that she would help Cinder but she was starting to worry about her chances against so many powerful people. What was she going to do?
