Chapter Three
A few minutes after their conversation, the drop ship's warning lights came on, casting a red glow on the walls. Then, the floor opened up, the air rushing by.
"Everyone ready?" Ashely asked, shaking her arms a little, and then making two cold blades come out right above each hand.
"Let's go," Sam said, stepping forward into the open air, off of the ship.
Ashley chuckled, leaping out as the others descended into the battlefield. As they were falling, the red sky reflecting off of armor plating, or casted shadows on scales, Ashley crossed her arms.
"So, what's our mission?" She asked in a cheerful voice.
"Some kind of weird factory the demons have been using," Melissa said. "Apparently, it's been responsible for making the deadliest weapons the lizards have. They were scheduled to send some more weapons to another location today, so our job is to crash their little party and destroy this place."
"Sounds easy enough," Ashley joked. "Any idea what the weapons are specifically?"
"You're guess is as good as mine. Also, we're getting pretty close to the ground, so I suggest you brace yourself." With that, she opened her metallic wings, and pit them at an angle that slowed her fall.
"Oh no fair, you have wings!", she yelled as Sam grabbed her and Tucker in each arm. Extra armor plating grew, and he curled into a ball as they were just about to hit the ground.
Making impact, The ground exploded into dust as Sam, Tucker, and Ashley all rolled over the ground. They all lay there for a second, not making a sound. Then, Sam sneezed, and Ashley and Tucker chuckled. They all slowly stood up, right as Melissa landed silently.
They walked together, going up a small rocky hill. When they got to the top, they finally saw what they were after. In the distance stood a large, almost black, cube shaped building. From the top spewed smoke, mixed with a flickering blue electricity.
"So, what are we doing?", Tucker asked, stretching. Both his black and white checkered scales reflected the light of the factory.
"Well first off, we need to find an entrance," Melissa said.
"And if we can't find one, I'll make an entrance," Tucker finished, grinning. "Like in a movie!"
"We'll see." Then, Melissa went walking off, and everyone quickly followed. "You're all lucky I can see well. Otherwise, we'd all be walking blind."
"I can see okay," Sam muttered.
Ashley was about to say something too, when a midnight black shape raced right at them, grabbing both Tucker and Ashley, squeezing them to the point of being crushed. Ashely inhaled, holding her breath, and in the next instant as she concentrated, the demon howled in pain as a spiky ball of ice shredded open its clawed hand. Ashley jumped out of its grasp, right as Tucker growled, growing larger and larger. The demon tried to run away, but he stomped on him, dragging him on the ground for a few seconds.
"Looks like these are guards," Ashley said. "Good thing they aren't full fledged warriors, or we'd be in trouble." Right as she finished speeking, a dozen more demons surrounded them, each one having its crimson eyes starring into theirs. As the first one charged, Ashely made sure both of the icy blades above each hand were sharp. Then, leaping into battle, she made sure to aim for the reptiles limbs first, and then the heads. The plus with having ice related abilities in a battle with a demon, was that the frozen wounds didn't heal as fast as the normal ones.
She looked back, glad to see that her friends were doing good as well. Melissa was as good of a sword fighter as usual. At the moment, Sam was trying to get the demons into one group to making fighting them easier. Tucker was about fifty feet long at the moment, smashing every reptile he saw.
Ashley was so occupied with her friends fighting, that she didn't see the demon behind her. Suddenly, she yelped in pain as it breathed crimson flames at her. Her armor plating drooped a little, and the cold blue air that made up her "soul" hissed a little bit. The demon took another breath as Ashley kneeled down, seeing it could actually hurt her.
Out of nowhere, Sam punched the reptile in the side of the face, it leaped back, hissing, and breathing demon fire. For a second Sam's armor plating glowed a dull orange, but this slowly disappeared. "Uh guy...... Did I mention that defense is one of my specialties?", he joked. Then, both of his arms shifted, pieces clanking and clicking into different places.
Unlike most demon-angels, Sam had actual projectile weapons. He was capable of creating firearms, whether they were machine guns or cannons, along with green demon fire or metal ammunition. He was literally one in a kind, and everyone on the team loved him for that.
Sam charged, shoving one cannon under the demons chin, and sending green flames out the other end of the head. Then, he threw the reptile to Tucker, who of course stomped on it.
Sam walked over to Ashley, making sure there were no other demons present. "You should probably go to your reptile form," he said. "It heals faster."
Not answering, she concentrated for a moment, and then slowly, the blue flames grew dimmer, as the metal plating grew thicker, forming a set of jaws, a tail, sharper claws, and scales. Finally, Ashley blinked her eyes a few times, snapping back to attention. "Okay. Let's go finish this mission."
