The Old World God minion shot out more white flames, and Roy leaped to the side, Katherine still on his shoulders. "Katherine, can you tear some of the earth out of the ground, maybe knock this guy over?"
Not answering, Katherine's gauntlets glowed, and moving her hands a little, the Earth bellow the monster was torn up, revealing the roots underneath.
As the ground raised into the air, looking like a carpet when you picked one end of it up, and threw it down, the monster leaped off, pulling a gun of sorts off its back. Landing on solid ground, it rolled, and then continued running after them.
"Okay, so this didn't work. Any ideas?", Roy asked, putting on a burst of speed. Three more monsters were by the forest, trying to cut the Roy and Katherine off. The one behind them fired the gun, and the ground in front of them exploded, dirt and stone flying everywhere. The ground around thtt area raised up a little, and Roy leaped back, sliding underneath the monster. As he ran in the other direction, the crater made by the gun exploded into white fire, which continued to grow. All the monsters ran after them, roaring and hissing.
As the monster fired again, Katherine made a boulder shoot out of the ground, which exploded into little shards. "Hey Roy, how much time do you think it'll take us to get to the city?"
"At this speed, five to ten minutes. Why?"
"Because I seriously doubt we're gonna make it for five to ten minutes." Twenty more monsters had ran out of the trees, and a dozen of them were running to the sides. Soon, the pair were cut off. "Crud! Roy, got any ideas?!?!"
"Hehe, oh I don't know, what do you guys normally do when you're surrounded by a dozen or so giant monsters, that would just live to eat, stomp, or vaporize you?!?!?!" Leaping up, Roy landed on the shoulders of one of the giants. Thinking fast, he pulled out his scythes. When he brought them down though, they bounced off the metal, and cracks formed on the blades. When he slashed at the scaled flesh, the scythes shattered. "Oh come on, I just bought those!!!" He leaped off, kicking the monster in the head. It didn't move at all when he did this, and as he landed on the ground, it stomped down, dragging its foot, trying to crush him.
Katherine was having similar luck. She got the feeling that the monsters were playing with them, like kids with action figures. Growing angry, she stomped down on the Earth, and all the giants stepped back little in surprise. This gave the two just enough time to escape. "Hey Katherine? What the heck was that?!?! I just about fell on my face!!!"
"These gauntlets control earth right? Well, that power tends to get transferred to the user, and over time, it can build up. It's only a temporary thing, so if I took off my gauntlets, I'd be able to us control the ground for about a minute or two, but it wouldn't be permanent. Lucky for us, even though the usual weapons don't work on them, the force of a large portion of the ground shaking can freak them out."
"Ya, but not all of us can do that you know."
"Yep, and that's how I'd like it to stay."
