When the monster had stomped down on John, Olivia slid off. She thought she would see the smashed remains of the demon angel, but instead, a column of stone had grown out of the ground, pushing against the clawed foot.
The bright green gems on Katherine's gauntlets glowed as she shifted the stone. "John, get out of there!!!", she yelled. Moving her other hand up, a boulder shot forward out of the ground, right into the open mouth of the monster. It fell onto its back, hissing. As it got up, it's teeth and snarling gums glowed dimly, and it crushed down, the boulder exploded.
John got up, his legs shaking just a little, but he quickly leaped away. "Thanks. So, what's the plan of action?"
Katherine threw another boulder, this time at the monsters leg, and it knelt, but quickly stood back up, and charged forward. Olivia shot an arrow in the small hole leading to its eye, and it jerked to the side, crashing right into a building, sending stone and smoke into the air.
"Hey, how Fire resistant do you think this guy is?", John asked, walking up to a line of empty parked cars.
"Don't know," Katherine said, bringing the concrete on the building down onto the monster, smashing it to the ground even more. It quickly got back up, the armor on it thickening. "This guy is sooo weird. He keeps changing. We need to kill him, right now."
While neither Olivia or Katherine were looking, John put them both on his shoulders. "Uh, not again," Katherine said. In a few seconds, Katherine and Olivia were at the top of a tall skyscraper. "This is getting really old, really quick," she said.
John punched his hand right into a car and had it go on fire. The whole thing blew up, along with a few more, metal flying everywhere. The monster fell over, but quickly got up as John wiped some ash of his shoulders. "So, mind telling me what the heck you are?", he asked, circling around it. "I get the impression that you can understand me. Can you talk to?"
The monsters teeth rattled a little as it gave a deep chuckle. Coming down the street, three more armoured figures had come, walking on two legs, their faces hidden by plates of metal. The first monster stood up on two legs, and then spoke to the other three. John couldn't understand any of what was said, but the three giants looked back and forth between John and the first monster.
Then, the three walked towards the direction of the hole in the wall. The first monster knelt down, starring at John. All of the sudden, John gasped as a sharp pain went through his head. We'll be back soon. Don't worry, we'll get rid of your alter ego. John held his head, a ringing sound going through his ears.
John slowly lifted his head, looking at the wall. The monster had left, it's foot prints leaving deep claw marks in the ground.
He was startled when Katherine and Olivia were behind him. "What was that?", Olivia asked. John just shook his head. He didn't know.
That night, John starred up at the ceiling, unable to sleep.
All the possible help they needed had been sent from town now, and the wall was being rebuilt. John was thinking of the voices in his head though. I don't feel right. Is that demonic half of me still in there? And that monster had telepathy. He seems to want to help me, but kill everyone else. This makes no sense.
Slowly, John drifted into a restless sleep. His dreams were what kept him asleep as someone else had him stand up, and stare out the window. Hmmm... Well, I know you can here me out there. I must say, that was quiet the show you performed today. I get the impression that you're just warming up though. So, I see you want to meet me. Just tell me the time, and the place. I'm waiting...
