Chapter Twelve
When the group got back to the town, they were met by a huge crowd. Katherine and John pushed back, trying to keep everyone away from the injured Kristof. Levi jumped up onto the roof of a house, and ran, jumping on the tops of houses, trying to shake the people who were following him.
The group found themselves in the middle of a huge party, and they were the center of attention. John was secretly upset when everyone had him try their food. He was extremely picky when it came to eating. Kristof was given bandages for his wounds, and he sat at the table, talking happily with everyone. Levi was nowhere to be seen, while Katherine growled at anyone who got to close.
After awhile, to the group's relief, most of the people left, except for Katherine's father and Frederick. Levi even joined them, looking around nervously for any sign of more crowds of people. "Finally, I can have peace and quiet," he said, laying on two of the chairs, as if they were a couch.
"Not quite yet," Frederick said, sitting in front of them. "I must ask, what happened out there?"
John sat up. "Well, we found the cave, and when we got really far inside, the demon attacked us. We all got pretty beat up too. But... I think I might have turned full on demon angel. I ended up tearing the demons head off with one of the light crystals, and it didn't grow back. Then I just sort of turned back."
Frederick starred for a second. "Do you think you could turn into a demon angel again, just so I could record this?"
John nodded. "Sure, once I figure out how to do it." His face grew concerned. "The portal the demon came through won't work will it?"
Frederick shook his head. "When you killed the demon, the portal disintegrated. We are officially demon free."
Katherine's father stepped forward. "Thanks to all your bravery, you have helped this town more than you could imagine. Now that the demon isn't terrorizing us anymore, we are able to explore outside the walls, and find other people out there in the world."
Kristof raised a glass of water. "Let's have a toast. To demon angels that become allies, to killing evil monsters, and to being a bunch of crazy savages."
They all toasted, and after that they all talked about random things. "So, Katherine, your dad and you were monster hunters from the start?", John asked, intrigued.
Katherine nodded. "Before we lived here, my sister, my father, and me were traveling monster hunters. Eventually though, we stopped here."
John looked surprised. "You have a sister?"
Levi nodded. "Sister is best friend."
John already was scared by one monster killing Katherine, let alone two. "My sister Olivia works at the walls. She's got a bow and a butt load of arrows. She's not as tough as me though."
At this, Levi growled.
Katherine's father spoke up. "Tommarow, Olivia, Levi, and I will be going on a journey to look for more people. Make sure to pack anything you need."
Levi shook his head. "I'm already ready, whenever you say the word."
Katherine coughed, trying to get everyone's attention. "Hey John, how old should we consider you?"
John thought for a second. "Well, there are three options. One, you consider me in that fourteen to fifteen year old range, because that's what I look like, and because you guys are like that. Another option is, you consider me some kind of old guy, because who knows how long I've been asleep underground. And the third option is that you consider me a toddler, since I just woke up a few days ago."
Everyone was silent for a while, but then Kristof spoke up. "Definitely the first option." Everyone nodded, even Katherine's dad and Levi.
