Katherine yelped as the truck flipped upside down in the air, as the vehicle in front of them went up in flames. She landed on the ground with a thud, and rolled out of the way, narrowly missing a hunk of metal. Jumping up, she ran over to the truck with Roy, who now had a deep scratch on his shoulder.
"You okay?", she asked, getting her fingers in between the door to pry it open, while the reptiliani did the same thing on the other side.
"It's fine. Nothing that won't grow back," he said, getting the door open.
Before Katherine could get her door open, Levi's fist came through the top of the vehicle, and then he climbed out after cutting a huge hole in that area. "Your sister needs medical attention," he said, Olivia laying on his shoulders. "She has fallen unconscious, but has suffered only minor injuries." For a second he almost looked worried, but then he leaped off the truck, and they all went running after everyone else. Luckily, the vehicles were stopping.
"HEY, YOU GUYS OKAY?!?!", Kristof yelled over to them.
"Ya, but Olivia blacked out!", Katherine yelled back.
"Hurry and get in one of the supply trucks, sounds like the first ones were a trap, and now, Sarah's saying that there's some Old World God minions and Shapeshifters in the distance!"
It looked like he was about to say something else, but then he yelled as John grabbed him by the shoulder, leaped out of the truck, threw him into a ditch, and turned into demon-angel form.
At the same time, Sarah and Dan leaped into the air in Dragon form, right before an enormous reptilian monster landed on the vehicle, which crunched underneath it like a tin can. It dug its claws into the ground, and let out an earth shattering roar, and then, the line of vehicles was surrounded.
What surprised Katherine though, was when it spoke.
"I can see, that you have quite the revolution beginning. But, it is my job, due to orders, to burn it all. If though, you surrender a handful of the beings that are present, you may be allowed to live."
Kristof stepped onto one of the trucks, a sword in one hand. "And who would those few be?"
The giant stepped to its full height, it's tail spreading across the area behind it. "Him," it said pointing at John, making him flinch. "And him," he pointed at Dan, who had flown back a ways, and casted nervous glances at the monsters below. "And her too," he pointed at Sarah. "Him," he said, waving to Levi. "And-."
The Old World God never finished speaking, as Katheirne put her finger and thumb in her mouth, and whistled, which made him look surprised for a second, and then he laughed.
"Hey buddy! Here are some real questions, that you could answer, before you ask us to give away random people. First of all, why them? Second of all, who are you working for? And third of all, why should we even listen to you, WHEN YOU'RE PLANNING ON KILLING US ALL ANYWAY?!?!?!?!?!"
The Old World God's rumbling laughter made the ground shake for a moment, and then he finally got it under control, shaking his green, blue, and black armored and scaled head. "All you humans, reptiliani, and other lower species. You're questions are fair, so they shale be answered," he said, his crimson eyes looking down on everyone with a cold intelligence. "We have chosen these specific few because of certain talents they possess. There are others out there, much like these few, that have also caught our attention."
"Are you saying there are other demon-angels, and dragons out there, that are awake, right now?", she asked, genuinely curious.
"Why yes. You would be surprised how eventful this specific point in time is. Much has changed, and is still changing. To answer your second question, while most of us make up military rolls, and even though our primary leader is still in an unknown location, we have elected a new Alpha, and for the past few months, he has done an excellent job at leading us." As he answered the last question, he smiled, a facial expression, that made Katherine want to punch him. "And we don't mean to kill you. But for all the monsters you have killed, thinking of them as vermin, as an infestation, has it ever occurred to you, that there are those out there who think the same way about you? As vermin?"
"You're saying we're the same as rats?!?!", she yelled, picking up one of the bigger firearms next to her out of anger.
"Katherine, stand down!", Kristof called.
"Why should I?!?! They'll kill us anyways!!!"
"Katherine, if you would listen for one second, maybe we could actually gain something from this experience."
Out of nowhere, the Old World God coughed, making everyone look up. "Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation, which is actually quite entertaining, but I will repeat what I said earlier. Will you give us those chosen few?"
Kristof took a second to think, while everyone else whispered, thinking of what they would have said. "Sorry, but we will have to decline your offer. Until you give us an actual reason to surrender a handful of our good warriors, we will have to continue on our way."
Everything was quiet for a while, and then the giant laughed uncontrollably, the sound echoing over the hills, and in between the trees. "Oh, you mortals crack me up. Dear, dear human, I am sorry to inform you, that that wasn't an offer... It was an order."
Before anyone could react, the shapeshifters and minions came charging, while the Old World God watched in amusement.
What surprised Katherine though, was when Kristof raised his hand, the one with the sword, and then there was a flash of light. Katherine yelped in surprise, and closed her eyes. A second later, the light faded, and when she opened her eyes, she found that every vehicle, supply, and person, was right in front of the gates of the walled village.
The gates opened, and her father walked out, eating a large piece of bread, his favorite shotgun in the other hand. "Dang, you all look like you had a bad day."
