Chapter Nineteen

John starred up at the clouds. He lay at the top of some random skyscraper he had jumped onto, unknown to whoever was inside. I'm bored... We've beat the bad guy, and we fixed everything. Now, I just read every book in this whole city. I don't have anything to do!!!!!! He leaped off, and sailed through the air, looking down at everything, then, turning while still in the air, he put his hands and feet on the building next to him, sliding down. Little bits of skin ripped off, but the spots glowed orange and regrew every second. Landing on the ground with a thud, he wiped his jeans.
He wandered through the city, looking into each building. I've been having some problems with my back, he thought. As if thinking of it could summon it, a bolt of pain went down John's back, and he knelt on the ground for a second, wincing. "Yep, I'm definitely getting that checked out."
Standing back up, he took a few seconds, and ran right into Olivia. They both fell, but he quickly helped her up. "Sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going. You okay?"
Olivia nodded. "It's okay. Where are you off to in such a hurry?"
"My back is having problems, so I'm looking for a good doctor to check it out."
Olivia laughed. "Not that surprising. Everyone says your an old guy. Lucky for us, you don't look like it." She motioned at him. "Come on, I found a good doctor a few days ago. He's helping me with migraines."
John followed, happy to do something. "Why, what's going on with your head?"
"I can see the future," she said.
John starred at her. "Uh... That was...... An unexpected answer........."
Olivia shrugged and smiled. "It only happens once in while, and I can't control it. There just possible futures anyways. It helps sometimes though. I always saw visions of the demon, but when he was killed, they all stopped. It's good for showing when danger has passed, not just come."
"How many people know about this?"
"Everyone in town."
"Huh. Is it weird that I expected you to be more like your sister?"
This really made her laugh. "Kind of. You are a new guy though. Then again, we look almost exactly alike."
"Are you twins?"
She shook her head. Then, she pointed at a white building. "Here's your stop." She grinned. "I saw how you saw that Katherine is in book club. I didn't know, but now that I do, I need to tell everyone."
John starred at her. "You aren't going to have visions of when I'm going to the bathroom are you?"
Olivia started walking away, laughing uncontrollably. "I really don't know. Kind of creepy to think about though."
John was right about to go into the building when there was a crash. He ran outside, looking for the source of the noise. A cloud of smoke had started going into the air, at the edge of the wall. He could make out that part of the wall crumbling to the ground.
"What's going on?!?!", Olivia yelled over the noise of the shouting and screaming people.
"Not sure!", John said. "Want a better view?!?!"
Olivia nodded, and before she knew it, John grabbed her hand and leaped up, onto the ledge of one of the buildings. He jumped again, and again, and soon they were at the top. "John! You never said anything about flying through the air!"
He shook his head. "I can't fly yet. Just jump really far."
"Still should have warned me," she muttered.
There was another crash, and the ground shook a little. The two looked towards the wall. Parts of it had collapsed, sending smoke and debris in the air. They could just make out a dozen giant figures in the smoke.
"I've got this weird feeling now," John said, his eyes starring at the chaos, unblinking. "Like we're about to have some trouble."
"Well, it's my job to find trouble," Olivia said. "So, can you please get me off of here, so I can beat the bad guys up?"
John grabbed her hand again, jumping from building to building. All of the sudden, a few large figures leaped out of smoke, crashing right through the buildings. John could make out scales, and plates of metal. "I'm going to go check on this thing!", John yelled. "Might go on it's back. You sure you want to come?!?!"
Olivia nodded. "Sounds like a good idea!!!"
Leaping off, they both landed on the monsters back, which was covered in plates of metal armor. They quickly held on as it raced through yet another building, not stopping for them, or the people inside. It's scaled and metal arms pushing it forward.
"Hey Olivia!!!", John yelled over the sound of the wind going by. "You might want to hold on! I'm about to do something stupid!!!" His hand flashed red, and it changed into a smaller version of his demon-angel claws. Then, they put together, looking almost like a knife. It glowed red with intense heat, as John stabbed down. It barely went through the metal, and then the scales. As he got through the scales, a burst of white light came out, and John sailed back in surprise. He grabbed the monster tail, making sure bot to let go.
The monster seemed to notice, and stopped, looking at the puncture wound with its crimson glowing eyes. The spot healed in a split second, and the monster looked at Olivia. While it wasn't looking, John turned into full demon-angel form, and punched it in the side of its head. It stepped to the side a little, but quickly recovered, seeming to chuckle. John starred up at it. It's teeth were pointing out of its mouth, shining where the sun hit them. It's head was as big as John was right now.
There was a flash of white, and the metal armor seemed to instantly grow over it, thicker than before. "Well aren't you pretty," John said. Leaping up, he punched it between the eyes. To John's surprise, the monster didn't flinch, and instead crashed headfirst into the building smashing John into the metal and concrete.
He fell as it's head went back, and John looked up in a daze, turning back into a human. Crud. Well, that was exciting, he thought as the monster brought its foot down on John.
