Chapter Eighteen

John looked out the large window on the building, starring out at the other metal and stone buildings, and looking down at the car filled streets. He had been given the job of staying in the city for a week, to see what it was like, and then come back to the town. Today was his second day. He was surprised at what he found here. It reminded him so much of his dream home! The streets all had names, there were small televisions, and the food was exactly the way he liked it.
He would still go back to the town though. He would just learn all the recipes he needed to know, and bring a few books with him. He had a photographic memory, so remembering how to make food would be simple.
Walking out of his room, he went down the stairs of the building, enjoying the modern day feeling of the whole place. After walking out, he went to the nearest restaurant, ordering for his favorite breakfast, two giant chocolate chip pancakes stacked on top of each other, with no butter or toppings and condiments of any kind, and some extra, extra, EXTRA, crispy bacon, which would be extremely crunchy, but not burnt.
He ate, drinking his glass of water slowly. He still liked water, it jest felt strange, like it was floating in his stomach. In his demon-angel form, he was effected by water much more. It might even come close to killing him.
Taking his time, he was done with breakfast in an hour. He walked out of the restaurant, heading back to the apartment. His temporary room had dark blue painted walls, with a white ceiling. Sitting down on the floor, he looked up at the ceiling, thinking.
Okay, why do I feel like I was hit by a train? I've been feeling like this all week, but it's getting worse. Kind of like there are other things I'm thinking of, but I can't remember. Is my demon self coming or something? I should tell Kristof and Frederick. But will they know what to do? If they don't they'll probably have to kill me. Shouldn't I die if it saves everyone else? But... I don't want to die......
A bolt of pain went down his back, and all of the sudden, John didn't remember his thoughts from a few seconds ago. I think I'm gonna go see what everyone else is doing. Frederick is definitely at the library, but I can't even begin to imagine what Kristof and Katherine are doing. Levi had stayed at the town, liking it because of the peace and quiet. John had to agree with him there.
Walking down the stairs again, he looked up st the sky as he walked outside. Not a cloud in the sky, and everything was going great. Using his senses, he found Kristof at firearm training area. "What are you doing?", he asked.
Kristof shot at the target, three of his five shots hitting it. "Well, I'm great with a sword, but I need to learn how to protect myself when there's something further away."
John nodded. "Seems smart. Have you seen Katherine?"
Kristof pointed. "She's somewhere off that way. No idea what she's doing."
John waved, racing through the crowds. He reached a red brick building, and walked in. He wanted to take a brake with some reading, so he walked over, and pulled out his favourite guide to the Hub so far. A hub was by definition, the center of attention, where everything happened. John thought that definition fit this place perfectly. After a few hours, he carefully closed the book, making sure not to wrinkle or bend any of the pages, and set it back on the shelf.
Walking outside again, he was a little irritated to find it was raining. Of course, it goes from nice and sunny to this!
He walked through the crowd, and put the hood on his jacket on, looking up, feeling the the rain. It burned, just a little. Wouldn't it look great if this whole place just burned to the ground? John looked around, surprised. Whoops. A bolt of pain went down John's spine, and he walked through the crowd, trying to get out of the rain as soon as possible.
John could tell Katherine was in the next building, so he went in, and carefully tried to figure out where she was. He was at the top floor of the building, which was both a book store, a...... book club? He starred down, and saw Katherine reading some thick hard cover book. Holy crud!!! My favorite book is off fifty percent!!!!!! Oh, and Katherine likes reading?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
