Chapter 117
I just wanted to reassure everyone and one person who knows who they are, that I have not abandoned the New World Chronicles. I'm giving it and the Born series equal attention, but this is my busiest time of year at work, so I don't have as much time to write as I used to.
"Okay, why did you guys insist on us coming here now, since we still have a lot of packing to do." Caitlin asked her brother and his wife as they arrived at the Allen house after spending the afternoon at the courthouse, since with everything going on in their lives and after the huge wedding they'd just attended for Kara and Lena, Caitlin and Gabby had decided to just go down to the courthouse and get married there, with Barry and Iris serving as their witnesses. But now they were officially married.
"I know that you guys didn't want a big wedding because of the move, but did you really think that we'd let you off without doing something?" Barry asked with a grin as he opened the door and Cisco, Lisa, Wally, Joe, Cecille, TJ, Kristin, Henry, Carla, Allegra, Jax, plus Professor Stein and his family, since after Gabby had become Firestorm, Professor Stein had volunteered to train her like he had Jax and he and his family had become a real family to Gabby, even adopting her into the family, with Martin and Clarissa becoming more like parents to Gabby and Lily Stein had become a sister to her. Which was why they, plus Lily's boyfriend, Ronnie Raymond, jumped up and shouted surprise. Even Jesse and Eddie had come in from Keystone.
"I guess not." Caitlin said with a laugh as she and Gabby were shown in for the small reception, which had a small cake covered with ice blue and fiery orange icing and other assorted pastries and desserts.
"It's also your going away party." Cisco said as he walked up to his oldest friend.
"Don't think you won't see plenty of me. Especially with the zeta tubes. Not to mention I expect to be made an aunt sooner or later." Caitlin said, looking over at Barry and Iris.
"That goes both ways." Iris pointed out as Gabby walked over to her.
"This is the first time we'll really be apart since boot camp." Gabby said.
"You're the only reason I made it back alive with the only damage being my arm and my spine. Both of which science found solutions for." Iris said, referring not only to her bionic arm, but also the nanites in her body that not only allowed her to walk, but were also what gave her her wind powers.
"So, do you have a job lined up in Blue Valley yet?" Barry asked his sister as they and Cisco, the OG Team Flash, were talking over cake and beer later.
"Actually yeah. Apparently Argo Enterprises is expanding again." Caitlin said with a smile.
"Seriously? Don't they already control every tech field?" Cisco asked.
"Not yet, but close. Apparently Kara's starting up a new genetics division in Blue Valley." Caitlin said.
"Really? What about the medical division in Metropolis?" Barry asked.
"That's purely medical research, though Kara did say that I'd get to work with the director of the Metropolis division, Dr. Emil Hamilton, that man's a legend." Caitlin said.
"But what's the difference?" Cisco asked.
"At the Blue Valley facility, we're focusing on unlocking the true potential of genetic power." Caitlin said.
"That sounds a whole lot like what they say at the beginning of a Jurassic Park movie." Cisco said and Caitlin rolled her eyes.
"Relax. Kara made it very clear that when we do crack that kind of cloning, we're leaving dinosaurs extinct until we find another planet to settle them on. She actually made it a rule that everyone who works there has to watch the entire Jurassic Park franchise as a good example of what not to do with genetic power before they can start work. Though we are not planning on bringing dinosaurs back to life. At least not until we find a planet that can safely support them." Caitlin said.
"So then what are you going to be working on?" Cisco asked.
"I can't really go into that without violating the NDA I signed when I took the job, since Cisco, you may work for Argo Enterprises, you don't work for my division and most of the other people don't work there at all, aside from Jesse and Ronnie." Caitlin said, since after Jesse had been relocated to Keystone, Ronnie Raymond had been promoted to the new head of the Central City division, though Professor Stein did serve as a consultant and even had his own lab there.
"And besides, this is supposed to be a party, so no more work talk. Especially since there's a DJ and dance floor set up and I want to dance with my wife." Gabby said with a smile, since her brother had set up a DJ booth, which was now playing Turning Page by Sleeping at Last.
"Of course. Who am I to deny my beautiful wife a first dance, since we did skip the ceremony." Caitlin said.
"And saved ourselves a huge headache and a bunch of stress by avoiding planning it." Gabby said as she pulled her wife over the dance floor so they could share their first dance.
