"Ty! You need to go to bed." Peyton half-whispered to me.

"Hey! Shut the hell up your gonna wake up mom and dad! " I told her in the same tone.

"Then what are you doing up? " Peyton told me, she was in my room. I tried my best to be as quiet as I can. Apparently, that didn't work out.

"I already told you, I am going to see a friend. " I said," I'll be right back I promise." I looked at my little sister. She is the most gullible person I've ever met. Do you really think I'm just going to see a friend on a Friday night? Well, I kind of am, but it's more than that.

"Are you sure?" She said. Her eyes softened a bit. She was only one year younger than me and doesn't know half of the things I do. She's very innocent.

"I'm sure. Just go back to sleep. I'll be here by the morning just do not tell Mom and Dad...Okay?" I ask her. She wouldn't tell me. Peyton isn't the type of girl who would do that. Putting everything aside, we care for each other. We don't rat each other out.

"Okay. Goodnight. " Peyton reluctantly left my room closing the door quietly. She looked tired.

I was in my car listening to the radio, driving to Amanda's house. It was that time of the month again. All of us wait for it and it's finally here.

The radio starts talking about how calm the town has been. Beacon Hills was the home to many homicides. Crazy killings. Weird killings. There was something up with this town. Though my parents never thought to even move. I feel safe.

Once I was at Amanda's house,I was getting a little more excited. I parked my car in the long driveway. She had a really big house, and most of the time she has it to herself. Her parents usually go on business trips are even go to their very own beach house. Amanda never minds, since she isn't close to her parents.

As I get out of my car,I see Dominick. A wide grin spreads upon my face. "Sanchez!" I call out to him. He waves and jogs up to me.

"Are you ready? Not everyone is here yet but I have all of the stuff in my car, we're gonna hang out here for a while until they get here, and then we could head out. " Dominick informed me. Which was pretty self-explanatory.

"Sounds good. " I told him, a smile on my face. We walked to Amanda's front porch, knocking on the door. 

The door flew open and I saw familiar dark brown eyes. Immediately Amanda kissed me, passionately. "I missed you." She told me smiling.

"I saw you yesterday... " I told her, being the jerk that I was. Her expression immediately changed from joy to annoyance. "Hey, I'm kidding. " I laughed and then kissed her.

We walk inside the house. Dominick already found his place on the couch. "I cannot wait for Monday. First day of Senior year. PLUS, LAX tryouts. " Sanchez told me.

"Me either. I've been waiting all year. I missed it. " I told him. "We're still going to the Senior Scribe, right? I mean we have to-. "  I said before I got cut off by Dom.

"Of course! We can't miss that. It's a tradition. All the Seniors are going to be there. I've been waiting for my whole four years of-. " Dom started but got cut off.

"Dom! Just shut up already! You talk so much. " Amanda interrupted. Rolling her eyes. "I'm already getting a headache," she said under her breath.

"Mads...." I said looking at her. "We're just having a conversation. " I say laughing.

"I'm going to get some Asprin..." Amanda said standing up out of her seat and walks to the kitchen.

"What up with her? I know she could be a bitch but, lately? She's been extra moody. And I know it's not because of her-"

Another knock on the door makes Dom get up out of his seat. He walks to the door, opens it, and incomes my favorite twins Alan and Adam.

"We're here!" Adam yelled , his voice echoing through the whole house.

"We know Adam. " Amanda commented, she emerged from the kitchen with a glass of water in hand.

I looked at Amanda and gave her that WTF look, why was she so mad today. She was acting like a bitch...I had to talk to her about that later. Then again Amanda is always in that bitchy mood.

"Hey, baby!" Alan said winking at me. Giving me the standard "bro hug". Alan likes to call everyone baby since his favorite movie is Dirty Dancing. He walks around the room greeting everyone the same way.

Adam and Alan take a seat next to Dominick. "So when are Lola and Serena are coming? We came late but they are really, really late. " Alan said, clearly anxious about tonight.

"They'll be here soo- And that's probably them now. " I told the twin, getting cut off by a short knock on the door. "I'll get it. " I tell Amanda who was already starting to walk toward the door.

I stand up and walk over to the door. I open it and there stands, Lola and Serena. As always fashionably late and fashion-forward. And let's not forget the one and only Ralphie. Who doesn't love Ralph?

"Finally! " Amanda yelled. "You're here! They're driving me crazy. " She said hooking her arm with her best friend, Lola.

Ralph came over to me and whispered in my ear. "Lola said she would smash. " He sounded so excited. Like it was the best thing he ever heard.

I still had the urge to laugh. Ralph said it like it was the best thing he has ever heard. "Who?" I asked.

"Me." He raised his eyebrows at me feeling very accomplished.

"Congratulations. " Dominick and I slow clapped for him. He really deserved it. Note the sarcasm. "Just ask he-"

"Are we going or what? Let's get in the car!" Lola told all of us, on cue, everyone in the room stood up and headed out the door.

We were all in the car, it was Amanda and I in the back along with Alan. "What's up with you lately?" I whisper to Amanda. She's been acting a litter more rude than usual, as I said before. I really want to know what's going on. I really truly care about her even though down times she doesn't treat me the same way.

"Nothing! Can I have some space?" She snapped at me. Alan gave me the "look". The look you give to someone when their girlfriend is going haywire. Only Alan heard, thankfully. I don't want to cause a scene and then ruin the whole thing we have planned for tonight.

"I'm sorry okay? " I look at her, not knowing what I was apologizing for but just saying it hoping it does something to calm her down. It did a little. I rolled my eyes, she is so complicated...

For the rest of the drive, Amanda was pretty quiet. Everyone else was talking, excited about tonight. I was genuinely happy. We're going into our last year of high school and who knows what we're going to do after that. We don't talk about the future but we always assume we'll always be together. I don't want to let that go.

When we finally made it to the lake, everyone got 10x happier. It was probably 12:00am and were here at the lake. Having our traditional swim. It's going to be freezing but, this is the best time to do it.

Everyone exits out of the car, Lola brings out the brownies. We parked near the dock. "One each...for now. I didn't make much but it's enough." Lola said letting everyone take one.

"These are so hard....couldn't you have made them a bit more... soft I guess." Adam said, taking a bite of the brownie. He looked at Lola.

"What do you expect they're pot brownies?" She said eating hers, putting them down she dresses down to her swimsuit. Everyone else does the same.

I went to go get my phone from the truck but Dominick couldn't help but go in the lake already. "Last one in the lake has to drive back!" Dominick yelled as he ran to the lake. He jumped off the dock.

Everyone else went in and turns out I'm the last one. I went to the dock, jumped in. "You're driving! " Serena told me, splashing water in my face.

Everyone was drying off. We were just about to leave. I heard something. It wasn't just an animal in the bushes. It was a voice. I didn't want to go after it. I'm not that stupid. C'mon now we all know what happens to the guy who follows the voice. You die. But either way, it really creeped me out.

"Do you guys hear that?" I asked. I was pretty curious. I didn't know exactly what that voice was saying but it was definitely there. I looked around for any sign of cops. I don't think anyone else would be here out in the night.

I got no's from everybody. I can't be the only one hearing this. "Let's check it out! " Ralphie said, looking around for anything that would make a noise.

"No way I'm going out there. " Lola said, you guys can go. There's no way I'm going into those woods. " She said walking back to the car. Then joined Amanda and Serena.

"Well, we are. It'll be in 5 minutes. " Adam said, he stood next to Sanchez still wet from the lake. Apparently, we were short one towel. All the girls walked back to the car as we headed deeper into the forest. Forest or woods? Same thing.

"Okay enough bullshit, when are you going to ask her out?" Sanchez asked. Everyone knew what he was talking about. Ralphie and Lola. Though Ralphie didn't respond. Not until everyone stared at him for a good minute or so.

"Ohh you were talking to me,I thought you were talking to Alan. " Ralphie says but it was obvious that he knows what Sanchez was talking about. Everyone does.

"You thought he was talking about Alan? Really? Alan can't get a girl,even if he was the last guy on earth. " Adam said laughing. Alan gave him "the look". This was typical  twin behavior.

"I don't know who you're talking about then. " Ralphie said, shrugging his shoulders. Playing dumb, obviously. 

"Lo-" I started until Ralphie spoke up again.

"WELL, we are going to split up because that's how everyone dies. " Ralphie said. "Sanchez you go with the twins, and Ill go with Ty. " Ralphie continued and then left the twins and Sanchez.

"You were about to put me on blast. Saying Lola's name! Are you serious?" Ralphie said looking at me.

"I actually only said, Lo. I was going to say, Lois. You're the one that brought LOLA into the picture. I never mentioned her. " I told him. Obviously, I was originally going to say Lola but why not say this.

Ralphie looked at me. Not having a comeback. This was rare because he almost always has a comeback. "TYLER!" Someone screamed cutting my thoughts off. It was a horrible scream. The scream that tears through you.

A few seconds later,Ralphie said "That sounded like Peyton..." his mood changing from denial to seriousness. "Was she awake when you left? Did she know?" Ralphie asked.

"She heard me leave but I didn't think she would follow me. We ne-" I replied but getting cut off by another scream. "TYLER!"

It was like a trigger for us to run in the direction of the voice. Whether it was Peyton or not someone was in danger. We had to go check it out.

"TYLER HELP!" These screams were so loud. So piercing. It screamed bloody murder. Something was going on. And it could be happening to my sister right now. It was pitch black. Very hard to see. Surprised none of us have fallen yet.

"Tyler!" This time it wasn't a scream. It was a cry. I heard it. We were right next to the voice.

Ralphie and I stopped. Looking around. "PEYTON!" I yelled. No response. It was hard to see.

"Tyler!" This time it wasn't the screaming voice. It was Ralphie. He was in front of me. His eyes were wide with fear. Before I could even turn around a large hand went on my shoulder. When I looked,it was a creature-like human. He had razor-sharp teeth and glowing white eyes. No pupils.

The creature had me in the lock. I couldn't move. He put his hand on my cheek,he had these long claws. I didn't know what to think. I tried to get away but couldn't. "Ralph!" I yelled. This thing was inhumanly strong. I tried to break free out of its strong grasp. Ralphie came over,trying to help me, but the creature pushed him out of the way knocking him to the ground. He got pushed really hard. And I could see that he got cut.

Breathing heavily,I still try to break free. Trying to get his strong arms off of me. The creature then looked at me with his blank white eyes. Staring into my eyes. "Inoshishi inaajimo gegii. Giinetawaa. Inoshishi inaajimo gegii.Giinetawaa!" The creature yelled. I looked into those white glowing eyes as he said those foreign words. It was like I was in a trance. Right after,his sharp claws cut my cheek,dripping blood. I had no clue what it said. I was scared out of my mind. After that, the creature stopped speaking and dropped me. I fell to the ground. The wind knocked out of me.

That thing then ran off back into the woods. I stayed here trying to comprehend everything that just happened. Was it just the brownies? Could this be a figment of our imagination? Why didn't it kill me? And why did it cut me to just leave me here? I had so many questions but none of them could be answered.

I put a hand on my bloody cheek. It hurt a lot. And it was bleeding pretty Hadley. Looking around, I see Ralphie still on the floor from the blow of the creature. I instantly got up and ran to him. "Are you okay?" I asked looking at him. I kneeled down. The cuts on him didn't look too bad,thankfully. He was shocked,still processing what had happened.

"I'm fine. Give me a hand," he said. He put his hand out and I pulled him up. His eyes widened when he saw the deep cut on my face. "Are you okay what did it do to you?" Ralphie asked.

"We have to call Peyton first. I heard her. That thing could've taken her. I need to see if she's okay. " my words were rushed. My heavy breathing didn't make that any easy. I got my phone out of my pocket. I opened it to see that there isn't any service. Reasonable. We were in the middle of the forest. "We need to get closer to the lake. There's no service. " I said.

"What about the twins? Sanchez? They're still in these woods..." Ralphie said. Clearly concerned about the rest of the group.

"I'm pretty sure they went back when they heard the screams. Probably went back to tell Amanda and them. If not then we go back. " I tell him. We start running. I still was bleeding. But I had an intense adrenaline rush. It didn't hurt as bad as it would.

We literally just saw this MYTHICAL CREATURE THAT had razor-sharp teeth, long claws, and white glowing eyes. What the hell is going on?

We ran trying to retrace our steps. Going back to the lake. Once at the lake I immediately saw everyone. Our group of friends. Everyone was wide-eyed. They went up to us but all I could do was think of my sister and all the danger she could be in. I grab my phone out of my pocket.

"FaceTime her. " Ralphie said, which wasn't a bad idea. I could see what she's doing if she even answers.

"FaceTime who? You have cuts all over your face what the hell happened. Both of you are bleeding!" Lola said concerned. I honestly didn't know how bad the cuts were but I ignored her. I have to call Peyton. I unlocked my phone and face timed her.

"We'll tell you right now. We just have to see if Peyton is okay. We heard screams in the forest and it sounded like Peyton. " Ralphie said. My phone rang and soon it said it was connecting.

Right, when it connected I said, "Peyton! Are you okay? We heard from you. " I look at the phone to see that she was tired and in her bed.

"You just woke me up. Why wouldn't I be okay? Are you? You're bleeding...You said you were just seeing a friend. " Her voice sounded raspy, most likely because she barely woke up. And that she wasn't in the woods screaming.

"We heard you screaming. I swear it was you. It sounded just like you. " I said. Ralphie and I couldn't have made that up. It sounded so real.

"I've been in my bed all night. I don't know what you're talking about. What happened to your face, Ty? Are you at the lake? Why are you there? And tell me why you're bleeding...no just tell me everything. " she said rambling. She was clearly confused and so was I.

"I'll tell you when I get home. Hold on okay? " I said before hanging up on her. I then looked at all my friends who were listening to the conversation. "I swear...I swear I heard her scream. " I told them, they were looking a bit skeptical. They looked at me like I was crazy.

"We did. It was a voice. And it was screaming Ty's name. Then this creature thing cut him in the cheek. " Ralphie said backing me up.

"We didn't hear anything. We just went back to camp after you split off. We didn't hear anything so yeah..." Alan said trailing off.

When he said that about my cheek I then realized how much it hurt. I really didn't focus on the pain when I was running or calling my sister. It was probably because of the adrenaline. Now I feel the pain 100%. The adrenaline wore off.

"Are you sure both of you didn't just trip and fall? Maybe you had one too many of those brownies..." Amanda said not believing us at all. I swear it was real. I can't make that up.

"There's a literal slash on his cheek something must've cut him. " Serena said replying to Amanda. She was trying to make sense of all of this. I was glad she was trying.

"Both of you have cuts all over your face, whether it was some creature or not we need to clean these. Does anyone have an extra shirt, something..." Adam said.

"I have one in my bag. " Dominick said. He hasn't said anything all this time which was odd because he talks a lot.

"Get some water too. " Lola told him.

When Dom was doing that Ralphie continued to tell them the full story of what actually happened. Starting from when they barely entered the woods till they came out.

Dominick came back with two bottles of water and a shirt. He gave them to Lola. Lola and Adam both started cleaning up our wounds. They weren't bad enough to go to the doctor but they were still pretty bad. Both Lola and Adam were in Health Ed for two years so they knew the basics of cleaning up a wound.

Sanchez, Alan, and Serena were talking about what they heard and the possibilities of such a creature. Amanda sat next to me while Adam was cleaning the gash on my face. "You don't believe do you?" I asked Amanda.

"Do you expect me to? You're saying a creature with fangs and claws cut up you and Ralphie. That sounds more like a fictional story than a real one. " She said, if I was in her position I would be skeptical. It was a pretty adventurous story.

"I swear on my life it was all real. "

hellloooo! So if you're reading this you just finished the first chapter of this book!!! Yay. So this is a pretty long chowder and I'm gonna try to make all chapters this long. I have a lot in store for this book. I really hope you like it. What do you think about the characters? Who's your fav?
