Chapter 36 - Wounded

Possible trigger scene ahead

"Yeah, we're on for Saturday night."

"Is Lincoln coming to?"  Leena asked through the phone.

Brooke couldn't help but grin as she finished making tomorrows lunches for school.  "He is coming up for the weekend and Melody is staying over at Elise's."

"That will be exciting!" Leena squealed.

"Very!  A weekend just to ourselves again!"  Brooke sighed longingly, happy for a possibly repeat of their retreat in Big Bear.  "I went shopping earlier today, too."

"Naughty girl!"

Both women giggled until Melody entered the room.

"Mommy, I'm hungry!"

"OK, sweetie," She smiled, stroking her daughter's golden locks.  "I'll make you a-"  Three rapid knocks interrupted her sentence.  "Who in the world could that be?"

"Everything alright, Brooke?" Leena asked, voice laced with concern through the phone.

"Yeah," Brooke whispered.  "Someone knocked.  I'll call you later.  I need to see who this is."

"Maybe it's Lincoln surprising you early," She quipped in a teasing tone.

Heart fluttering because that seemed like something Lincoln would do, Brooke smirked.  "Talk to you later, Leena."

Pocketing her phone as Leena's chuckle faded, Brooke padded toward the door and peered through the peephole.  What, or rather who, she saw senther heart dropping heavily into her stomach while racing in panic.

"Mommy, who-"

"SHH!" Brooke interjected, covering Melody's mouth with her hand.  Silently taking her daughter by the hand, she led the scared girl into the smaller bedroom Brooke used as an office.  Squatting and taking Melody by both arms, Brooke spoke in a hushed whisper.  "Sweetie, I need you to hide in the closet."

"Why, Mommy?"

"Shh!  Be quiet and listen."  Melody pressed her lips closed to silence herself and stop them from quivering.  "There is someone at the door who wants to hurt me and take you away.  I need you to hide in this closet and call Tita.  If she doesn't answer, call Kyle then 9-1-1.  OK?"

"OK, Mommy," She whimpered but obediently climbed up the bookcase inside the closet and ducked inside, crawling until she was hidden in the corner.

"Stay here no matter what until I come to get you, understood?"

"Yes, Mommy."

"I love you."

"I love you, too, Mommy."

After closing the door, Brooke padded toward the living room, jolting when more angry knocks resounding through the wood.  For a moment, she considered not answering.  If she remained quiet, maybe he'd leave assuming she wasn't home.

"I know you're there, Brooke," Dorian's angry voice bellowed.  "Your car is in the driveway."

Breathing deep, eyes pressed closed, Brooke clenched her fists.

"Breathe..."  Brooke reminded herself, clinging to the hope that he would give up and leave.

"Open the door" He yelled, pounding mercilessly onto the door again.   "Or I'll go the the back and kick the damn door down!"

With a trembling hand, Brooke twisted the doorknob slowly, cracking the door open just enough to see his menacing face.  "You are not welcome here."  She tried to sound brave, hiding the fear in her voice.

His lips curved to a menacing grin.  "Oh baby, has that ever stopped me?"

Slamming his hand on the door, Dorian shoved it open, sending Brooke stumbling backwards.  With an audible whoosh, the door banged shut, sealing Brooke away to her fate.

"You hired someone to follow me?  Hmm?" Angry didn't even begin to describe his emotion.

A strong hand gripped around her throat, any response cut off by his tight grip while shoving her backwards until Brooke finally lost her footing.  She twisted around hoping to catch herself but tumbled forward, hitting her forehead on the glass coffee table.  Crying out in pain, Brooke fell to the carpeted floor, head throbbing and ears ringing.  Dorian's screamed obscenities barely registered, sounding dull and distant.

Slowly, the dazed state faded as he yanked her leggings down.  Brooke flipped herself over, kicking furiously but it only aided in removing her pants.  Still Brooke tossed, thrashed and kicked as Dorian lowered to his knees, grabbing her wrists and pinning them above her head.

"Dorian...don't, please" She whimpered, tears flowing down her pale cheeks fear clearly sparkling in her eyes.

"Ahh baby, I love it when you beg."

Mouth slamming onto hers, bile burned its way up her throat.  Brooke bit down on his tongue hard when it shoved into her mouth.  Anger smoldered within Dorian's cerulean orbs as he forcefully flipped her over, pinning her down by the back of her neck.

"You'll regret that."

"No...no, please don't!"  She begged, thrashing her hips below him as his pushed his zipper down.  "Dorian! NO!"

Disgustingly hard, turned on by her screams, Dorian plunged, rolling his eyes closed as he began his ruthless rhythm.  Brooke continued to struggle and scream for him to stop with adrenaline surging through her veins.  Rocking her hips sideways, she fruitlessly attempted to throw him off but he just plowed harder.

"Fvck, baby I missed this!"  he groaned, lips twisted into an evil grin.

Time seemed to blur as Brooke's body and mind shut down while she sobbed for mercy.  Dorian grunted and moaned as her walls burned from his assault.  Sounds were muffled but his hot breath panted against her neck, fingers clutching around her wrists surely to leave bruises as his lips bit and sucked at her neck.

"Where uhhh...is...Melody?"  He growled, hips slamming onto her s from behind.

Eyes squeezed shut, tears burning a path down her cheeks, Brooke sobbed.  "Not here!"

His dark chuckle turned her blood cold, taunting her nerves with each forced pound.  "No one...here to...save you!"

Dorian's thrusts became less steady, a sign he was almost done.  Limp beneath him, spent and exhausted from fighting, Brooke fought the vomit churning, burning her throat as he spilled in release.

Collapsing atop her, Dorian panted heavily then roughly withdrew as always ignoring Brooke's whimpers of pain.  He stood, righted his pants then grinned down at her in triumph.

Squatting beside her, Dorian guided Brooke's tear stained face toward him.  "See if your new f^ck boy still wants you now that I've reclaimed what is mine."

Tearing her face away in shame and disgust, Brooke squeezed her eyes closed.

"I'll be back for you and my daughter."

Utterly broken, Brooke closed her eyes, allowing the darkness to take over as Dorian threw open the door and left.

****

It seemed like hours later when Brooke felt someone lightly smacking her cheek, shaking her shoulders and faintly calling her name.

"Brooke..."  A man's voice.  "Brooke, open your eyes!  Oh God, please open your eyes!"

"Nngh...Mel-Melody..."  She groaned, turning to face the male voice.

"It's Kyle, sweetheart," He cooed, cupping her bruised cheeks.  "Where is Melody?  Did he take her?"

"N-no..." She swallowed hard.  "C-closet."

Kyle jumped up, sprinting for the front bedroom closet.  Finding it empty, he went for the next bedroom.  Soft whimpers of child cries caught his ears.  Shoving the door open, he found the girl, knees tugged up to her chest holding a cell phone.

"Uncle Kyle is here," She spoke into the phone,  glistening blue eyes peering up at the familiar face.  "Uh huh, we're safe now....OK."

She put the phone down, passing it to Kyle but the call had ended.,   Pocketing the device, he then reached both arms out for the girl, pulling her out of the closet and against his chest.

"Mommy was screaming, "Melody sobbed.  "Was he hurting her?  Is she OK?"

"She sent me to check on you,"  Kyle soothed, stroking the girls hair in a soothing rhythm.  "I needed your Mommy's phone to call Leena and Lincoln.  Stay here until I come back OK?"

"OK," Melody nodded, climbing off of Kyle to lay down on her bed.

Exiting the bedroom, Kyle headed down toward Brooke's room so neither resident could hear his call.  Lincoln's number was one of the first few and with a regretful sigh, Kyle hit the call button.

"Couldn't wait until tomorrow to see me, huh?" Lincoln answered, the flirtatiousness in his voice obvious.

"Lincoln...It's Kyle."

"Kyle...why are you calling from Brooke's phone?"  He questioned, clearly baffled.  Then it clicked.  "What happened?"

Sighing and pinching his nose, Kyle winced.  "How soon can you get here?"

"Two hours," He blurted, slightly out of breath as he hurried.  "Kyle!  What. Happened?"

"Dorian was here."
