Summary: After like- 5 days, Player's now yay. Dum is a worried sibling and finally, did they just slept under the sheets toegther?...

• Veteran's POV

[Current Time: 8:39PM]

"There we go!" I exclaim, showing Player the thermometer results we got, and yes I got a thermometer at some point to measure his temperature.. y'know, for accuracy.

It's been around 3 days since he's been sick, in total.. 5 days of him being sick. I managed to take care of him as hard as I can and dude, it sure wasn't easy..

He would sometimes feel nauseated a lot when moving or walking, he'd act more aggressive but he'd also cry at times. He didn't like eating either since he says it made him feel more nauseous as he was, I had to at least try to force him to eat, well hey, it worked.

He'd hate it when I leave him too, so I kinda have to stay with him most of the time.. which also means I couldn't finish all my tasks at times. But hey, it's fine. I mean, it's only a few tasks I couldn't finish at times.

He looked at the results, an adorable smile started forming in his face. Okay, being this cute is so illegal.. I thought.

The thermometer shown the result:

35.9°

35.9°, that means he's not sick anymore and or that he's finally okay? Yeah, all I really know is that at least his body temperature isn't hot enough for him to be sick at least, that's what Engineer told me.

"Oh yeah! After suffering for so long!" Player says, sighing with relief afterwards. I chuckle, I'm happy he's back to his normal self again. He has felt weaker and was less optimistic the past few days which I was not pleased to experience with him.

"Heh, yeah. Lucky those antibiotics Engineer gave us worked too!" I said. "Yeah! I'd still be dead right now if Engi didn't give those to us." Player says.

I turned off the thermometer and placed it on Player's nightstand.

"Glad you're back dude!" I said. "Yeah, thanks to you!" Player says.

I smiled back at him, feeling the tug of happiness in my heart.

Player than laid back down at his bed, a relieved sigh once again escaped from him.

I then signaled myself to leave him be, since I don't have any more business to do in his room of course. I took the thermometer from his nightstand. "I'm gonna need to store this back to Medbay, take care of yourself dude." I said, while getting ready to stand up.

Player was silent for a few seconds, then nods in agreement afterwards. "Yeah, I will." Player says.

I then left him be, planning to go to Medbay to store the thermometer I got back.

• Player's POV

"Yeah, I will." I said, while nodding in agreement with Veteran's statement. He then smiles back and unlocks my door to leave, yeah.. he has access to my room now. Technically just cause I was sick so Captain changed his keycard system a little bit so he can access my room whenever he wants now, unless I lock it myself of course.

Once he left the feeling of being alone kicks in again.

I usually don't mind being alone, sometimes I'd need some time alone to take a break from others. But, being alone almost all the time can be really saddening too y'know?

I lay back down at my bed, bored.

Since technically I still had a headache I couldn't really do much, it would make me very dizzy and nausea will cloud me. If I ever walk for at least 15 minutes in the hallway you're probably gonna see me in the bathroom puking thanks to my nauseousness.

I didn't wanna play any games either, It might make the situation worsen then it already was.

So yeah, you can tell I have no choices nor options to choose from because of this.. so, I have to stay bored for the whole time, apathy fills me faster than I thought huh?

I laid at my bed quietly, staring at the ceiling. The room was quiet and all I can hear is the air conditioner's mechanism cooling up my room. My room was dimly lit up, so it was pretty dark but I could still see clear enough. All I can possibly do to entertain my bored self is to just think about.. whatever crap I can think of in my head.

Eventually, seconds passed like minutes.. and eventually.. minutes combined together to become an hour.

I started getting so bored of my mind I decided it's probably the best to just- sleep and rest this out. I'm not expecting Veteran to come back any time soon..

I slowly closed my eyes, which seemed to be pleased by my action and hugged my pillow and.. yeah okay- I hugged my beanie too okay?

The feeling of me getting tug by my sleep consumed me.

It was easy for me to be able to sleep, the room was mostly quiet and all you can hear is the air conditioner's calming sounds of mechanisms workin', and plus, my room was dimly lit up which made me sleep faster and made me feel the sense of comfort and relaxation.

• Veteran's POV

[Current Time: 11:01PM]

(Veteran was done eating dinner with the crew.)

"Aaand, there we go!" I exclaimed, storing the thermometer I got to it's respective storage, the upper cabinet. "Alright then!" Captain says, yawning afterwards.

I asked him if I can use a quick big ladder help, and he agreed. Technically, he was carrying me since I wasn't tall enough to fully reach those upper cabinets. I think only TheGentleMan can actually reach those upper cabinets honestly.

I cautiously jumped back down to the ground safely. "Phew, you're heavy!" Captain says. I shrugged. "Gee, thanks." I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes after. Captain then rubs his tired eyes.

"Well, gotta turn out for the night! Goodnight, Vetty!" Captain exclaims. I suddenly felt a little.. disturbed by the sudden nickname call, but didn't think much of it and just ignored it.

"Night too, Cap."I said. He then nods and walks away, going for the Medbay's exit to sleep in his own room.

Once he left me alone, I then left too.

My daily routine the past few days was to usually head to Player's room and sleep in his beanbag chair since- well- I don't want to sleep with him y'know? It might make things.. weird.. to say the least.

I walked quietly at the corridor, the Skeld lights were off since it was night time.. and the only light source was.. mostly some of the giant windows presenting the illuminating stars up above.

I was precautious while walking, I didn't want to trip just cause I couldn't see anything.

I didn't exactly feel tired at all.. and.. to be honest I felt wide awake.

Since I didn't feel sleepy nor felt like wanting to sleep I decided to not head to my room, yet.

You may be wondering then.. where will I go?

Well, ever since I had to uh, look out for Player and all back then I suppose I have grown a fond appreciation for the giant Cafeteria windows.

I can see why Player chooses to rest in the Cafeteria instead of his own room.. it's more relaxing to look at the shining stars floating up above the dark navy blue sky y'know? It's a peaceful sight to look at.

Once I arrived, I did notice the chilly temperature Cafeteria maintains to hold.

"Yeah, I'm not Player.. I'm so bringing a blanket with me if I ever- pass out here." I thought, while chuckling afterwards.

I headed to my room quickly just to get my blanket.

I'm not exactly planning to sleep in the Cafeteria but- just looking at space might make me sleepy and pass out there, so, in case I will be bringing my own blanket.

I'm not freezing to death today, thanks.

I took a probably 20 minute walk or more to literally just get a blanket, I guess it's worth it in the end right?

Once I got my blanket on me I might as well just look up on the stars and probably just- relax for now..

• Player's POV

"Yeah, I really am! Don't worry.." I assured.

"Alright bro, but uh, I'm still not letting you do tasks you might get on a small fever!" Dum exclaims.

"Jessica, I haven't done my tasks in 5 days! 5 DAYS! I have to do it as early as I can!" I exclaimed.

You see.. Dum wanted to check if I was alright, she probably heard from Veteran I was at least okay now while they were eating dinner.

Although, even with all my assures, she still doubts that I should do anything and just- rest.

Sure, I'd like that but.. honestly, I haven't done any tasks in 5 days, that piles up to a bunch of work y'know.. I don't wanna overwork myself to do them but.. at the same time I need to, it's my responsibility to do those tasks in the first place.

"Hmm.." Dum mumbles, she's probably thinking of something.

"Hey! Why don't I take some of your tasks then? I'm sure Cap won't mind!" Dum says her idea to me.

I firstly wanted to decline the offer.. but quickly realized that.. each day is 5 tasks to do in total.. meaning I would have to do 25 tasks in total! Oh geez..

I was silent for a few seconds, wondering if I should let Dum take at least a few of my tasks or not..

"Player?" Dum asks, noticing I've been quiet for a few seconds now. I quickly snapped out of my thoughts. "Oh! Yeah?" I asked, forgetting what she said a few seconds ago.

Dum rolls her eyes then sighs. "Well, either way, you have no choice! I'm taking some of your tasks to do for the day and you don't have a choice." Dum exclaims.

I jumped a little bit from her exclamations. "WAIT DUM I HAVEN'T DECIDED-" As I was midway through my sentence, Dum interjects it.

"Yeah, yeah, no." Dum says. "I'm doing it whether you like it or not! I actually don't have any tasks tomorrow since it's my day off, I might as well do some of yours!" Dum says, happy with her decision to help me out.

"I don't know.." I mumbled. "Well too bad." Dum says.

Dum is a stubborn person, I know that I can't easily force her to stop doing whatever ridiculous crap she might be doing or will do. With knowing that logic, I gave up.

I sighed. "Fine." I said.

"Alright, I'll ask Cap right away!" Dum says. "You're literally wasting valuable leisure hours." I said, aggravated.

I don't like it when people do things for me, it makes me look pitiful in a lot of ways. I'd rather not be seen that way nor have that as a profile on myself.

"Nah! I'm not wasting any hour, as long as I can help you then it's honestly no biggie!" Dum says. "This is so weird coming from you, sis." I said, a little.. weirded out by her actions, but I do know that she's just caring for me.

Me and Dum may not get along easily, nor we do things for each other most of the time.. but, we're always both there for each other. Sometimes.. maybe a little.. too much..

"Geez, rude much?" Dum says. I giggle a little and so does she. "Well anywaaaaayss, I guess I'll be going to Z's now bro! Goodnight!" Dum says.

"Goodnight sis, and- don't barge in my room next time." I said. Dum chuckles. "Okay okay!" Dum says, while unlocking my door to leave.

I wave goodbye and so does she.

Once she left I laid back down at my bed, hoping that.. she didn't wake my body up too much for me to not be able to sleep again anymore.

[Current Time: 1:46AM]

Well guess what?

She did.

It's been two hours.. how-

I tried flipping around while closing my eyes, but I felt so wide awake it just- wasn't working. I tried thinking of nothing however, the results weren't as good and I just wasn't feeling sleepy anymore as I used to be.

"Curse you Dum!" I thought, I was a little upset I couldn't sleep anymore due to her just barging in my room cause of it.

I sat back down while crossing my arms.

After a few minutes of sitting down at my bed in silence, I decided that.. I can't just- not sleep, I'm not going to be sleep deprived again.

I used to be sleep deprived back then at home, and.. it wasn't a healthy hobby of mine. I don't want to be sleep deprived here too..

I don't want to drink sleeping pills either again, it can be sometimes poisonous if used daily or abnormally all the time.

Well.. now that I eliminated some of the options..

Welp, guess it's time to go back to the Cafeteria sleeping habit huh? Greaaaat!

I stood up from my bed and groggily took my keycard that was placed in my nightstand. I unlocked my door quietly yet also quickly.

I slowly walked from the dormitory corridors, it was quite dark so I had to squint my eyes a little to see where I'm going or else I'd be face planting the floor by now.

Once I made it after like- 20 - 25 minutes of ranging minutes I unlocked the Cafeteria doors.

"..."

"Player?.." Someone says, quietly.

"Veteran?!" I whispered loud, a little befuddled why he was present here.

"Dude, what in the world- why are you still awake??" Veteran asks. "I uh, couldn't sleep again.." I said, nervously laughing afterwards.

He sighs and pats the floor, signaling me to sit down next to him.

I quickly got his signal and sat down next to him.

We both got a little silent, we were just staring at the windows the whole time.. adoring the wonderful sight of shining stars and the dark navy blue skies.

Veteran chuckles quietly. "Now I really get why you love sleeping here so much." Veteran. Veteran always wondered to me why and how was I able to always fall asleep in such an area. I always told him it's a nice spot but he'd always disagree.

"See? Told you! I didn't expect to see you here." I said, still a little shocked he finally agreed to my suggestion.

"Well, I wasn't sleepy so I went here and took what you said before." Veteran says. "Oh, okay." I said.

Silence was penetrated for what felt like forever, but in reality was just seconds.

I suppose we were both just mesmerized by the wondrous scenery that can clearly be seen through the Cafeteria windows.

"...Did you bring a blanket? Or did you forget again?" Veteran asks, while looking at me and breaking the silence between us.

After he asked that question I quickly realized that I had forgotten to bring one with me, and, it was starting to get a little cold too.

"Crap-" I thought.

I was silent for a prolonged amount of time, embarrassment clouded my judgement.

"Well.. I- uh.." I said, stuttering. "No.. I uh, forgot mine." I finally spat out.

Veteran then sighs but then smiles softly at me. "Well, hey, I bought mine! Guess we gotta share it huh?" Veteran says.

I suddenly jumped from his sudden statement.

"Share?.." I quickly asked, to make sure I wasn't hallucinating or anything.. "Yeah." Veteran says.

"I mean, one of us might as well freeze to death by now if we don't cover ourselves with anythin'." Veteran says. "N-NO IT'S FINE I DON'T NEED IT!" I quickly said, blushing a little.

The thought of randomly sharing a blanket with someone that- isn't a family member is really awkward, to say the least- I'd rather not have that feeling..

"Dude, do you wanna freeze to death or somethin'?" Veteran says.

I tried to stay adamant, but.. he is right, there will be an inevitable time I might as well freeze to death in here.

"Plus, you were just sick cause you forgot to bring a blanket with you while sleeping here, remember?" Veteran says, reminding me of why I was sick in the first place.

I knew I had no choices nor options to pick anymore..

Firstly, I was already 20 minutes away from my room, it would take so long just to get a blanket.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure I didn't get to wash those yet- at least, I don't remember doing my laundry yet.

I sighed. "Fine.." I said.

I slowly took half the blanket from him, covering myself with it.

We both didn't speak to each other. We rather stayed quiet and in silence as we both just distract ourselves with the beautiful sight we're both looking at.

• Veteran's POV

It's been a few minutes now, me and Player never spoke.

No, it's not cause we both did not have any ideas for what to talk about, but because we're so distracted by staring at the giant windows that we just kept silent.

However, we'd still have small talks along the way to obviously not make it awkward as all.

It was at some point that moment all we really focused on was the sky.

[Current Time: 2.34PM]

I don't know how much minutes it has been, nor if it has been an hour or not but I felt something fall against my arms.

"..."

"Uhhhh..." I thought.

Player apparently fell asleep on me, guess he got tired quickly.

I just froze and sat there, not knowing if I should wake him up or not.. wait no- his main goal was to sleep, I can't just wake him up.

I felt the familiar warm feeling in my cheeks, I was blushing from this.

I was frozen still, not wanting to move cause he might get disturbed from his sleep, so I sat there quietly looking at him.

"Oh my god, this is getting so illegal- how is he- this cute??" I thought repeatedly, looking at, what in my opinion.. is a cute sight to me.

"Aw.." I said, not noticing what I said at first.

I quickly noticed what I said and covered my mouth.. hoping Player didn't hear anything. Fortunately for me, he didn't hear anything, he was dead asleep now.

I sighed in relief knowing that he didn't hear a single thing I said.

I stopped looking at him and decided to distract myself with something else to pass the time, and to make me feel sleepy.

After a few more minutes of, just- doing basically nothing.. I eventually yawned.

That signaled me to know, I was probably getting tired myself. Usually when you yawn it means your hella tired. I slowly closed my eyes.. and let the feeling of sleepiness tug me away.

Eventually, I have now fallen asleep in the Cafeteria... with Player.
