Lovable Risks
Dylan, like every morning, woke up to the sun in his face, groaning he sat up from his bed looking to the window. Seeing the old white curtains, Dylan looked around, before his eyes landed on a chair on the edge of his bed.
Gina's mouth slightly parted and her eyes were closed, soft snores coming through the girl's messy locks. Dylan gave a light smile his bandaged hands reaching for the lightly colored stands of hair and pushing them back out of the pale girl's face showing off her slightly pink cheeks.
Three knocks came from the open door of their room, Dylan looked up, his hand quickly retracting back to his lap seeing the doctor.
"Yes?" His voice was rather hoarse, but still understandable.
"I just came to tell you that everything on your stats are clear, and you and your friend here can be discharged from the hospital when ever you are ready," Dylan gave a nod, looking back to Gina.
"We'll go now I suppose. I need to start looking for any open apparements," The man gave a light smile, but soon dropped it in exchange of a frown.
"Mind my asking, but, do you two have anywhere to stay until you do find a place?" Dylan thought for a moment before shaking his head.
"Not at the moment, but If I make a few calls, I'm sure I can find a buddy to let us stay," The Doctor gave a small nod, looking at the clock on the wall.
"Well, I should go tend to other patients, discharge papers are at the front desk, and the phone is in the lobby if you need to call for a cab,"
"Alright, thank you," With that, the Doctor excused himself from the room.
Dylan sighed, scooting to the side of the bed, his feet touching the tile floor below him as he set his gaze back on Gina, a faint smile on his lips. Lifting his pointer finger he poked the brunette on the nose, causing her eyes to slowly flutter open, and her mouth to widen in a yawn.
"Morning sunshine," He spoke, catching Gina off guard as she stretched her arms. The girls grey-blue eyes contrasted with Dylan's green one's as the two gazed at one another.
"Morning. What time is it?" Looking up at the clock, Dylan read the time for her.
"About twelve. Want to go grab lunch, they said we could leave, we just have to sign a few things," Gina only groaned, rising from her spot.
"I guess, I'll have to stop at the bank first," She spoke, "Crap, never mind, I can't do that," Dylan raised an eyebrow as Gina ran a hand through her hair as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.
"Why not?"
"My credit cards were in my purse and they, along with everything else burned up, at least that's what I'm suspecting," Dylan watched as the girls refection saddened, and reached in his back pocket, pulling out a cheap looking leather wallet, as Gina turned around, the sun shadowing behind her.
She let out a small laugh shaking her head seeing the cocky smile on the boy's face.
"If you'll let me, I could go and sign the papers and we blow this popsicle stand and I treat you too some Mickey D's," Forgetting about the fire, Gina nodded, a smile plastered on both their faces. Dylan sighed happily standing from the bed and heading towards the door, placing his wallet back in his pocket. "I'll go sign those papers,"
Gina stood in place for a moment before running out the door and caught up to Dylan, her eyes not making contact. "I have to make a phone call or two, when your done, just tell me," Dylan hummed in agreement, as the two reached the desk, Dylan stopped, asking for the papers as Gina went to the phone, picking it up and dialing some numbers, letting the phone ring.
"Zip line Insurance Company, this is Helen, how can I help you?" Came a soft toned voice as Gina leaned back on the wall, clearing her throat.
"Yes, this is Gina, I'm calling to discuses an issue with my house,"
"Alright, what is the address?"
"6219 Hamilton road," There was a small pause filled with the sound of keys clicking.
"Could you confirm the address by stating the phone number to that home?"
"212-788-0436"
"Okay, what was the issue?"
"Well my house caught on fire along with all my possessions," There was a small pause between the two before the women on the other end clicked her tongue.
"I am so sorry sweetheart. Do you know how much damage was caused?"
"Uh, no not yet, I wasn't aware I had too know,"
''Oh well in order to get help from the insurance company is we need proof that the fire accrued, like photos, videos, etcetera-- The policy here is a little topsy turvy , but we get the job done within a week or two," Gina hummed in response pinching the bridge of her nose as a new headache began to form. Helen, not hearing any other form of an answer continued speaking, "Would you like to set an appointment to get everything in order Ma'am?"
"Uh, yeah, is there any time tomorrow that is available?" Once again there was a pause along with keys clacking.
"Yes, we have a three o'clock open along with a four thirty,"
"Uh, the four thirty please,"
"Alright, we have an appointment set for Thursday at four thirty,"
"Thank you,"
"You're welcome Ma'am, I hope everything works out for you,"
"Thank you, bye,"
"Bye," With that the two hung up just in time for Dylan to walk over, his hands in his pajama top pockets.
"You ready?" He asked, causing Gina to turn around.
"Uh, yeah," Dylan gave a nod, turning to walk out the hospital, Gina in tow. The two walked out the door, and onto the side walk, walking down the pavement walk way as the cold air nipped at their faces.
Gina sighed, shivering as a new blow of wind rushed passed them, Dylan catching sight of the act, looked up ahead of the road to see a retail store just a few shops down.
"Why don't we stop up here and get some new clothes? It's kind of cold for shorts and a t-shirt don't you think?" Dylan gave a nervous laugh trying to lighten up the mood, but his laughter died down not hearing anything from the girl beside him., he sighed. "Yeah,"
