Hermione's POV

Malfoy raised the broom higher and higher until we could see Hogwarts in the distance. I looked down and gasped.

"What? Afraid of heights?" He snickered as he turned to looked at me.

"Go" I shouted as I dug through my robes for my wand. "Dementor."

"What" Malfoy gasped and looked down. Sure enough, it was there. "That explains why it was cold. It was around."

"Malfoy" I said through my teeth. "Go."

"Don't worry, it hasn't even seen us" he chuckled.

"Oh yes it has" I pointed to the figure flying towards us.

"Oh shit" Malfoy says and the broom takes off.

We had a advantage over the dementor, but it started to get closer. When we almost there I started to feel strange.

I turn to the dementor and held my wand up. "Expecto Patronum."

The dementor shrinks back from the light and when we entered the grounds it flew away. Malfoy flew towards the Great Hall and stopped outside.

"Are you alright" Malfoy asked as he got off the broom and placed his hands on my shoulders.

"I think so" I say to him as I swing my leg over off the broom. "Just a headache."

Malfoy nodded and he helped me into the castle. "That was impressive. The Patronus Charm."

I smile. "I'll teach it to you some time."

"Alright" he chuckled.

When we entered the castle we were greeted by fire the took away the chill. Malfoy and I walked it to the Great Hall to see Professor McGonagall standing in front of the students.

"Ah, Miss Granger and Mister Malfoy. Where the heavens have you been?" She asked and the school turned to face us and went quiet.

"Ah" Malfoy tries to say but he looked at me.

"You see Professor, Malfoy and I help the first years and when we came back there were no carriages" I explained.

"Oh" Professor McGonagall covers up her mouth. "I forgot to send one down. Forgive me about that."

"It's alright, Malfoy and I rode on his broom" I said.

"Well, I might as well make the announcement since you're here. Students, Miss Granger and Mister Malfoy are Head boy and head girl."

The entire room gasped.

"Settle down" McGonagall hushed. "My decision is final. Now, let's eat."

"Shouldn't we tell the Professor about the dementor" Malfoy asked.

"After everyone leaves" I tell him. "For now, act normal."

Malfoy nodded and walked over to the Slytherin table and I went to find my friends. I spotted the familiar red hair and soon found my boyfriend with a mouth full of chicken.

I sat down next to Harry and everyone turned to me. Harry spoke first.

"So, Malfoy" he sighed.

"I don't like this" Ron said as he piled more food on his plate. "It makes me upset."

"I see it has no effect on you appetite" Ginny grinned at her brother.

"I'm stress eating" Ron said as he shoved a forkful of mashed potatoes in his mouth.

"You glut" Ginny said as she shoved her brothers shoulders.

"Malfoy" Harry sighed. "How did he manage to become head boy?"

I shrugged. "McGonagall picked him. Well, Dumbledore and Snape help her."

"Snape and Dumbledore?" Ginny asked with a confused tone. "But they're dead."

"Their paintings, I mean" I said.

"I'm surprised that he came back. Considering all the things he's done I'd have thought he was out of the country" Harry said as he looked up at Malfoy.

"He told me he has changed" I tell everyone as I fill my plate.

"Oh yeah, let's see how long he can act civil" Ron said as he looked at me. "Anyway, where did you go after you talked to McGonagall?"

"I had to go to the head compartment" I say.

"With Malfoy?" Ron asked.

"Yes" I tell him.

"What did you guys talk about?" Harry asked as he sipped at his water.

"Nothing, really" I shrugged. "I read the entire time."

Everyone snickered a little to loudly and people from other tables looked at them.

"That's my girl" Ron said as he reached over and held my hand before giving it a squeeze and letting it go.

I smile and look over at the Slytherin table. My eyes stopped on Malfoy who was staring at me. He gave me a small and I returned it.

Draco's POV

"Draco" was all I heard when I sat down. Pansy basically tackled me and kissed my cheek. I shoved her away but she held on to my arm. "I've missed you."

"I haven't" I said as I forced her to release me.

"Why are you acting like this" she pouted. "We were so good together."

"Says you" I said as I filled my plate.

"You're so mean" Pansy says as she places her hand on my thigh and starts to rub it. "I like mean."

"Get your hands off me" I say as I pushed her hand away.

"Fine" she said as she stood up and walked out of sight.

"About time" Goyle said as he bite into his chicken. "I could Tolerate her back then, but now she's just..."

"Annoying, selfish" Blaise counted by using fingers. "Did I say annoying?"

I chuckled as I took a bite out of a biscuit. "Yeah."

"Well, Head Boy, should I bow or should I curtsey" asked Goyle with a smug smirk on his face.

"I want you to grovel at my feet" I said with a straight face. We all ended up laughing.

"So Draco" Theodore started to say with a smile. "Are you and Granger best friends now."

"Nope" I say. "We just tolerate each other now."

"She's pretty cute now" Blaise said as he turned to look at her. I kicked Blaise's shin under the table and caused his to turn back around. "What was that for."

I chuckled but stayed quiet. Blaise, Goyle, and Theodore got into a heated debate about the Quiddach season this year and I just listened.

I looked over at Granger to see that she was laughing with her friends. Before I could look away I, she looks at me right in the eyes. I smiled at her and she smiled back.
