Chapter 2

Hermione's POV

"Hermione" Ron call out the moment he saw my. He rushed over to me took me in his arms and kissed me. "I haven't seen you in ages."

I giggled. "Ronald, I saw you yesterday at Diagon Alley, remember?"

"Am I not allowed to miss you?" He asked.

"You are" I said. After I gave Ron a peck on the lips I took his hand in mine. "Lets get on the train."

Ron and I pushed though many students to get on the train. "Harry and Ginny went to save us a compartment" Ron said.

We walk past students in compartment after compartment to find our friends. When we did, Ginny was on Harry's lap as they were kissing. I couldn't stifle my laughter and they both jumped and Ginny fell on the floor.

"Really, Harry? That's my sister" Ron said as he walk past Ginny and sat down.

"Aren't you going to help me up?" Ginny said.

"No" Ron shrugged.

The train pulled away and parents can be seen waving goodbye to their children. The moment the train pulled away from the station the was a small knock at the door.

We all turned to see a girl who was a second year halfway hiding behind the door.

"Yes?" I asked the little girl.

"Excuse me" the girl cleared her throat. "Professor McGonagall want to see Hermione Granger. The professor is in the compartment at the front."

"Oh" I said. "Okay, I guess I'll see you guy in a bit."

"Do you think it's about the whole Head Girl thing?" Harry asked.

"Maybe" I said as I stood up and walked out and down the hall.

When I reached the compartment I knocked before I entered. I pushed the door open to see a white-haired boy wearing jeans and a jacket sitting across from a desk.

Draco Malfoy.

"We're not even at the Castle yet and you're already in trouble?" I asked and he looked at me with his cold blue eyes. "What did you do, set a first years trousers on fire?"

"I gave up on that" he said sarcastically. "McGonagall dragged me in here the moment I stepped onto the platform."

"Odd" I said. Just then, McGonagall opened the door. "Hello, Professor."

"Hello, Miss Granger. Oh, Mister Malfoy, you stayed. Miss Granger, please take a seat."

Professor McGonagall sat down at the desk I took the seat next to Malfoy. "I'll keep this short and sweet. Miss Granger, you already know you're Head Girl, Mister Malfoy, congratulations, you are Head Boy."

"What?" Malfoy and I asked at the same time.

"Professor" Malfoy said as he leaned forward. "Have you lost your marbles?"

"No I have not. I keep them in a jar in my office" she smiled.

"Excuse me Professor, but why on earth you pick Malfoy? He isn't exactly...right for this.".

"Ouch, Granger. I'm sitting right here" Malfoy smiled.

"Enough" McGonagall said. "Draco, two others recommended you for this task and you have to honor that."

"Who the bloody hell would recommend me"he asked.

"Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape."

"But their dead. Did you use a Ouija Board or read tea leafs?" He asked.

"There paintings are hanging in my office, it's never a dull moment with them around."

"You listen too those bloody painting?" Malfoy frowned.

"Their just as wise" the professor sighed. "You two have been chosen for this job. Right now I want you to go to the last compartment of this train."

"What's there, professor?" I asked as I stood.

"Well, normally, the Head Boy and Girl get their own space on the train" McGonagall explained.

"What if I don't want to be alone with...her?" Malfoy asked. I looked at Malfoy in shock, he didn't call me Mudblood. That's a first.

"It's the rules Mister Malfoy and I expect you to follow them, you to Miss Granger" McGonagall said as she shooed them away. "Go now."

I opened the door and Malfoy stood and pulled his hood up to cover his face and followed me out. We walked though the semi empty corridor toward the back of the train. When we past the compartment with my friends in it, I silently prayed that they wouldn't see me, and they didn't.

The end of the train quickly neared and before I knew it, we were in front of the last door.

"May I?" Malfoy asked as he motioned to the door.

"Alright" I shrugged my shoulders and he twisted the knob.

When he open the door he stepped in and he held the door open for me, which was...strange. I looked around the room which was the entire caboose of the train. There were two separate couches and a table in the corner with a bowl of fruit on it.

"So" Malfoy started to say. "How are you?"

I looked at him strangely. Malfoy and nice do not mix. "I'm fine. How are you?"

"I'm fine." Malfoy walked over to the table and grabbed a green apple. "Want something?"

"No" I told him and he shrugged and then sat on one of the two couches. "Are you sure your alright?"

"What do you mean?" He asked after he swallowed his bite of apple. "I told you, I'm fine."

"Wow, you are actually being civil with me. Did you forget who I am?" I asked I sat on the other couch.

"Listen, Granger" he said as he tossed the apple core into the rubbish can. "I've changed. All those things I've said to you was because of my father. He had shoved all that Pureblood and Mudblood bull down my throat since day one."

I didn't reply back to him. I didn't want to. Malfoy stared at me as I pulled a book out and started reading.

Malfoy sighed. "I guess this is going to be a long, quiet ride. By any chance do you have another book in that bag of yours?"

I reached in my bag and tossed him Romeo and Juliet. He look at the cover and frowned.

"I never heard of this one before" he said as he opened the book.

"It's a muggle book" I told him. I expected him to toss the book back, but he didn't.

Good.
