Chapter 4: A New Beginning

Hey guys! I was finally able to find time to write this. I wasn't going to write it all last night, but I had to get the idea down on paper before I forgot it. =P So, without further to do, I present to you Chapter 4. =)

Cool air hit Adrianna as she and Tom stepped into the movie theater. Adrianna had not yet been to the movies since her move to London a few months previously. Though she honestly had no idea what they were seeing, she was pretty excited about being there. She and Tom stood in line, both staring up at the list of movies currently playing.

Tom glanced over at her. "What if we see-"

Before he could finish his inquiry, the whole theater went black and a bunch of panicked screams rung throughout the building. The power was out, go figure. Adrianna didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal.

"Scratch that last thought," Tom muttered. He was quiet for a moment before he spoke again, only with a bit more enthusiasm. "Though I think I have a better idea. Come on, let's get out of here!"

With that, he and Adrianna walked out of the movie theater just as quickly as they had entered. The two walked side-by-side down the street in comfortable silence. Normally, Adrianna would've been bugged by such a silence, but for whatever reason she felt completely at ease. Though she was curious about where exactly Tom was taking her.

"So... where are we heading?" she asked, curiously.

Tom looked over at her. "It's a surprise, but I really think you'll like it."

"I'm sure I will," Adrianna assured. After all, he hadn't done anything she hadn't liked yet, why would he mess up now?

They kept walking for several more minutes before they reached a park. Adrianna was honestly surprised; a guy had never taken her to a park seriously. He had picked a great time to, too; the trees and flowers were all in the process of regrowing after the long winter. They were beginning a new life, as was she. Adrianna had no idea why Tom would've brought her here, but she was glad he did. Adrianna loved walking through parks, and once again it was something she hadn't done too much of since she had moved.

"I'm not sure if you like this kind of thing, but I know I love being out in nature; it's a little known fact about me," Tom broke the silence.

"Little known fact about me, I've been going camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan every summer since I was six," Adrianna countered, smiling. "The wilderness is where I belong!"

Tom chuckled. "I knew I liked you for a reason." He paused for a moment before continuing. "This is probably one of my favorite places in London. It's just so relaxing, you know? Gives me somewhere I can actually think."

"I know what you mean," Adrianna said. "I do most of my writing outside when I can. You can think so much better with the fresh air."

"Right! There's nothing to distract you- no phones, no TV, no internet... you can just climb a tree and forget about everything that's wrong," Tom agreed. He stopped and took a seat on a nearby bench; Adrianna followed suit. "Least that's what worked with me," he sighed.

Adrianna watched him carefully for a moment before speaking. "I know what you mean. When I get upset, well... normally I write, but sometimes even that doesn't help," she said quietly, feeling her eyes swell up with tears again. "Sometimes nothing helps..."

She had allowed herself to think back at what had happened, something she promised she wouldn't do. But she couldn't help it. It was slowly eating her inside. As the tears began flowing, she looked over at Tom, a frown all too apparent on his face.

"I'm really sorry about this..." she apologized.

Tom placed his hand on hers. "It's okay. Do you want to talk about it?"

Adrianna used her free hand to wipe her face. "It's fine. I don't want to trouble you with it..."

"Adrianna, obviously it's bothering you; you can tell me anything, I hope you know that," Tom comforted.

"You sure you don't mind?" she asked. When Tom nodded, she continued. "If I cry I apologize; I haven't really talked about it to anyone..."

"If you need to, you can use my shoulder," he said.

"Thanks," Adrianna replied. "You know... I don't even know where to start... from the beginning I guess..." She took a deep breath. "Well, about a year and a half ago, I bumped into a guy I went to high school with. He and I started talking and not too long later we started dating. For a while, everything was good; Matthias was really good to me. But soon after we had been together for a year, he started treating me differently. He was controlling, and wouldn't let me talk to my guy friends, or even a lot of my chick friends. He even read all my text messages." She paused for a moment. "He... really hated the fact that I wouldn't have sex with him; I've always kind of wanted to wait until I was married... or until I decided I was ready. And I was just not ready, you know? And because of that, he would cheat on me, and we would fight all the time. Plus he refused to move with me. Matthias just turned into a big jerk, and he broke up with me a few days ago. Though he wouldn't give me a valid reason for why..."

She rested her head on Tom's shoulder, no longer able to hold back her emotions. Adrianna felt truly terrible for doing this to him on their first date, but it felt better to have talked about it with someone. Tom put his hand on her back, hoping to help comfort her by rubbing her back.

"He's a jerk Adrianna. He didn't deserve a girl like you," he said quietly. "He'll realize one day that he's missing out on the best thing that could have ever happened to him, and when he finally does, it'll be too late."

She lifted her head and looked into his eyes. "You really think so?"

"I know so," Tom assured.

Adrianna wiped her face again as she asked, "Is there anything you wanted to get off your chest? I know you just kind of went through something similar."

"It's not nearly as tragic, and it happened about a month ago, but yea... I did," Tom explained. "She was basically just into me for the wrong reasons. She was just in it because I have the fame, the fortune... she didn't love the real me." He paused for a moment. "But it's okay. Everything is going to get better for the both of us. We both get the chance to start over, and find someone who is far better suited for us."

Adrianna had never thought about it like that. Although one door had closed, another had opened. Who needed Matthias anyways? Not her! From that moment on, she promised herself to not get depressed about it again.

She pulled away from Tom, though now she had a smile on her face. "Thanks Tom. I feel better already."

"I'm glad I could help you," he smiled back. "It's a real tragedy to see a girl as beautiful as you crying, I hope you know that."

Adrianna felt her cheeks flush pink immediately. He called her beautiful! That was admittedly the nicest thing a guy had said to her in a long time. It felt nice to hear it, especially coming from Tom Felton of all people. "Oh Tom... you really know how to make me blush," she shook her head, though she had a huge smile on her face.

"I'm only being honest," he said. He kissed her cheek before speaking again. "I should probably be getting you home, huh?"

Adrianna pouted. "I suppose so."

"Don't be sad," Tom replied. "I'll see you on Monday."

"Monday?" Adrianna seemed to be taken aback by that.

"Well, tomorrow night I have an interview, so I'm kind of booked all day, but I would love to spend the day with you on Monday," Tom explained. "If you want to that is."

"Of course I do!" Adrianna couldn't contain her excitement.

"Excellent," Tom smiled as he stood, stretching slightly. Tom removed his jacket, and handed it to Adrianna, who happily put it on to help protect her from the cool spring breeze. He offered Adrianna his hand, helping her to her feet as well. "Shall we head home?"

"Let's," Adrianna smiled.

As the two walked back towards where he had parked earlier that evening, Tom held Adrianna's hand tightly in his own. Adrianna found herself to be smiling from ear to ear, something that she hadn't done in a long time. This night had been absolutely amazing! Adrianna was just hoping it was only the beginning of many more to come.
