11. Training
Team Late Reinforcements.
That's what David decided to call them. He meant it as a joke but Nikki shrugged and told him to do what he wanted and that she couldn't care less. Sage, on the other hand, rolled her eyes and walked away without comment.
As of right now, the old Keeper of the Katana, Nikki, and Sage were teaching Will, Dalton, and Liam how to use their weapons. Alex had told them they had to give the magic some time to settle down before more than one hologram could show up at a time. David had met his older counterpart when Alex had first introduced them all. It wasn't anything special, just a quick hello before he traded places with another of the Keepers.
David wasn't really sure what he was doing here honestly. He wasn't really a fighter, more like a giver-upper. That's why he wasn't training with the others. He wasn't exactly sure why Gabe, Cole, and Dana weren't but he didn't really want to find out. None of them really got along so far. It had only been two days since they woke up here anyways.
Sage and Nikki were trying to get everyone to actually bond with each other. We're supposed to be a team, as Nikki pointed out. Truth be told the only boy he'd actually had a proper conversation with was the tall, scary one. The one with the giant swords that could tear him to shreds at any given moment. Even then they had just compared what they had learned about the legend.
David liked practicing with his bow sometimes, when no one was looking. He had asked Sage about somewhere private to practice on the second day and she showed him a target place filled with bullseyes almost completely destroyed by dagger stabs. Why were all the Asians scary as heck?
Anyways, that's where David was now, Sage would be covering for him. He had been given a bag full of different types of arrows. He started out with the beginner's one, considering the only time he's used a bow was yesterday, and that was when he had completely missed the target. This time he would get it, he didn't want to be totally useless in the time of war.
While David was aiming his arrow, a voice spoke up, startling him incredibly, "Bad form, square up more. Put one foot in front of the other, should be easier."
The brunet spun around to face Will and Liam.
"Will, Liam, what are you two doing here?"
Liam snorted, causing the other two to look at him funny, "Will, Liam? William? No? Nevermind then," Will stared at the shorter before answering David.
"Well, Nikki forced the others to join in the training session and Graham just told the three of us we could be finished and dismissed. We asked Dalton if he wanted to come with us but he stayed to watch." The raven-haired explained.
"So you came to find me, why?" David asked.
"Cause I'm 100 percent sure Will is gay for you." Liam answered.
Will shot Liam a death glare which the blond met with a shrug and smirk. The Asian rolled his eyes before looking back at David, who had turned back to aim the arrow he had been about to before he'd been interrupted.
"If you're positioned like that, you're going to miss." Will said
"Shut up, you didn't get the bow." David muttered, not looking back and still aiming.
David tried proving the taller boy wrong and shot the arrow towards the target. Keyword: towards.
"Damn it." David muttered under his breath, he could hear Liam laughing behind him. "Shut up Liam."
"Heads up!" Liam yelled back.
David heard a whizzing sound and ducked right as a sharp object cut right through the place where his head had been previously. The brunet stood up and looked over to see an arrow right in the bullseye.
The Keeper of the Bow looked back to see Will and Liam, eachwith a bow in hand, smirking. The swordsman winked and motioned for him to duck again. David did just that as Liam shot right through Will's own arrow, right through the middle.
David made a pretty bad bitch face when he looked back at the two laughing their guts out. Liam tried apologizing in between breaths but that just caused him to laugh even more. Will winked at the brunet before leaving with the blond.
"Dang it." David muttered under his breath. He glared at the two arrows in the middle of the target.
He was supposed to be the archer. Heck, Liam wasn't even one of the Keepers. Taking a deep breath, David went against his own will and took Will's advice.
Squaring up, he aimed at the target and let go of the string. It landed right near the bullseye. David yelled curse words of joy, almost injuring himself in the process.
"Dang Scarzone, you're getting good." Nikki's voice interrupted the brunet's victory dance.
David turned around to face the taller girl and gave his best smile. David wasn't exactly bullseye material yet, but he was getting there. Maybe he would even be able to believe he was fit for all this Kepper stuff.
