GreyXFire (GreystarXFirefur)

"This is ridiculous!" Greystar hissed, anger burning in him. "Who does Dawnstar think she is, wanting to steal WaveClan's territory? And I can't even believe LeafClan lost to RockClan!" He lashed his claws out at several reeds that were bunched closely together, tearing them in half and watching as they fell onto the grassy ground by the riverbank.

"This is Dawnstar we're talking about," Firefur sighed. "That cat seriously has some bees in her brains if she thinks she can take over every Clan's territory." She crouched by the river, staring into the clear water as it flowed. The river separated WaveClan's territory from LeafClan's and the fresh scent of LeafClan still lingered in the air, the wind blowing it towards the two cats.

"I know, but RockClan has already invaded LeafClan and took over it. I just can't rest peacefully knowing that they're out to get our territory next." Greystar let out a sigh. "And the only reason is because of leaf-bare coming!"

"RockClan has always been known to have prey that's scarcer than any other Clan's in leaf-bare," Firefur reminded. "It shouldn't be much of a surprise if the idea of expanding their territory for better prey comes across Dawnstar's mind."

"That's still not a good enough excuse." Greystar's teeth bared into a snarl as he thought of RockClan warriors trying to take over his Clan's territory. "Our ancestors have always told us that there must be four Clans, not more or less. Why can't Dawnstar just learn to follow the warrior code for once? Is it too much for every cat in the forest to ask?"

"Maybe it is, but Dawnstar will do whatever it takes to make sure her Clan thrives and is away from threats." But whatever she does is over the top and often ends badly. It's a surprise that Runningstar was able to deal with her so calmly and managed to chase her warriors off by using words, Firefur added silently. She is old and every cat knows she will be joining StarClan soon. . . if she's even worthy of joining them. Maybe knowing this is making her mind decide to do mouse-brained things.

"And that 'anything' must be why she thought it was okay to kill Brokenfoot," Greystar growled bitterly. "That was at a Gathering and StarClan didn't even seem to care about his death. I bet StarClan is on her side and they want RockClan to rule the forest." His tail lashed with fury.

"StarClan wouldn't want this to happen," Firefur meowed softly, resting her tail-tip on her mate's shoulder. "They can't be powerful all the time and I'm sure that somewhere up in the stars, they're not wanting anything RockClan does to destroy the rest of the Clans for good." He's starting to sound as if he's losing his faith in StarClan, the ginger she-cat realized. And over what? Brokenfoot's death?

Brokenfoot had been WaveClan's deputy and Greystar's closest friend who he could trust very well. "If they can give leaders nine lives, then they are powerful. All StarClan does is just choose to sit down and watch us struggle as we fight for our lives."

"They only have knowledge, and sometimes knowledge isn't power. StarClan has always been mysterious and it would be unlikely for them to give us answers all of the team. They make us think for the answers ourselves. Sometimes StarClan can't know everything and they certainly cannot control what goes on in the forest. Whatever happens, StarClan has nothing to do with it."

"And hedgehogs will fly," Greystar muttered and began walking away. Firefur watched as he left, letting out a sigh. She then looked up at the sky, knowing her ancestors were watching over her. I'll try making sure he keeps his faith in you, she promised. WaveClan will not turn against you.
