Warrior
Have you ever heard of the word warrior? You guys might be thinking what a LAME question this is. Of course you’ve heard and used the word warrior for thousands of times in your life.
What does it mean?
Who’s a warrior?
Here’s the ‘common’ definition to this ‘common’ word:
Warrior
[wawr-ee-er, wawr-yer, wor-ee-er, wor-yer]
Word Origin
Noun:
1. A person engaged or experienced in warfare; soldier.
2. A person who shows or has shown great vigor, courage, or aggressiveness, as in politics or athletics.
This is the warrior you guys already know about.
You think about the brave, hard person who fights for your country’s glory. The one in your army, navy, police… who’s busy serving your country, placing his life at stake.
But that’s not the warrior I’m talking about.
I’ve spent eleven out of eighteen precious years of my life with a warrior and guess what… a FEMALE warrior!
Shocked? Confused? You’ve the right to feel like that.
Now let me make things easier for you.
Teenage life is all about fun, adventure, rolling and bubbling around. No problems, no worries with a big sign board saying “let’s chill”.
What if you lose the most important part of your life, the biggest piece of your jig saw puzzle, the oxygen you breathe- during this delicate part of your life’s journey?
You’d be broken- no broken isn’t the appropriate word. You’d be devastated. Your soul will be shattered to innumerable pieces. Right?
Will you be able to smile at that time? Will you even remember the meaning of the word “smile”?
No. You wouldn’t.
Will you be able to study? Will you be able to give time to your friends- your family?
No.
Okay… so before you start assuming that I’m going to tell you about another sick, cliché break up story, let me clear, it’s not like that.
So yeah, let’s get straight towards it.
My warrior lost her dad about four years ago from now. She was just fourteen back then- very diminutive for a big incident like that.
I didn’t know what to say- how to join the countless pieces of her shattered heart. I didn’t have enough words to express how I felt for her. I even failed to feel the pain that had hit her hard- harder than any of my thoughts.
Harder than the pain of failing in a chemistry exam, more painful than falling from a cycle or losing an expensive parker pan…
The pain she felt at that time was massive- hundreds and thousands of times greater than any pains I’ve ever experienced in my life.
I could do nothing to make her stand up for life once again. The only thing that happened to me was- a seed got planted into my soul.
A seed of optimism and hope. A seed of fighting for life, keeping my spirits high and never losing myself.
She planted this seed- without even knowing it. She fought hard- harder than you can think of- to make things work out. Many times, she lost the track. Many times, she broke down and her eyes told she wasn’t ‘okay’. But she kept working, she kept fighting. She kept being my meaning of what a “WARRIOR” really is.
She loves- she lives- she cries too and that’s how her life is. She’s the TRUE WARRIOR!
And- yeah I’m proud of her. Who wouldn’t be?
I’ve been living with the big lush tree of hope she planted about four years ago. It is bigger, better and shadier than the previous years now.
I’m thankful for having her, proud of seeing her smile and lucky for the friendship we share as each little minute of life goes on.
