Chapter 11: Beginning

You were sitting on the bleachers, you were in the middle of gym class, your normal sweats and t-shirt on as well as everyone else. But, the only thing wrong was the ice solid layer going from your seat down, slowly towards either side of you. People, who gradually became aware, reluctantly moved up a bleacher or down, anywhere but next to you. You didn't fully acknowledge your growing abilities however, your eye's were locked on one person who sat across at the other side of the gym.

   Warren.

He was looking down at the presentation that the Gym Coach was preparing, his booming voice apparent to the entire room but, you. He wouldn't meet your eye's no matter how hard you tried to make him see you. He probably knew you were watching him, he even looked towards Layla, Will's earthly friend, who awkwardly smiled.

Your hands balled up and the ice around you only spreads farther, a few students yelp as the ice nips at their toes and clothing. The student body was to large, so most could only try to move away so far unless they were volunteering for the coach's normally brutal exercises.

The coach's booming voice came to your section of the gym,"QUIET!" He demanded before everyone came to a halt as people either sat back on the ice or on their friends laps.

Coach slowly turned back as he slammed four chest armors down on the ground, they all had a color. There were two that were blue and another two that held orange blinking lights at the shoulders and abdomen.  Eliciting everyone's attention, you finally diverted your eye's from Warren, calming down enough for some of the ice to melt and students to cautiously relax into their seats.

"I'm sure we're all familiar of our basic hero training lesson, save the civilian!" Coach informed everyone, although it was hinted as a question you wouldn't be answering. "Our favorite, am I right?" He snickered before scoffing. "At least mine," he muttered and everyone was only further dreading the rest of class.

"Now! Let's have four volunteers, ey?" He looked across the bleachers, scanning the faces of his students, noting the ones who looked away the moment he made eye contact and the ones who held it. Layla looked away far enough for her to lock eye's with you and she jumped before quickly spinning back around, your eye's narrowed.

"Peace!" Your eye's drifted to Warren as he stood with a sigh. "Shape up! You look like you're being choked to death!"

"(L/n)!" Your eye's flicker to the coach and you begrudgingly stand to your feet, glancing at Warren who's body physically tenses up. "Since you wanna cause some trouble in my class today."

"Lash," The coach pointed out, you watched as said boy stood up, stretching his arm's out. "And Speed!" You grumbled at the duo, the two having stood up smirking as they were paired up together like always. The coach seemed to morbidly enjoy the chaos these two created when paired off. "Let's see what you runts got, huh?"

You could see a few of the other students visibly relax seeing that they were left out and only needed to watch, you crossed your arm's over your chest and waited as the Coach continued to talk loudly. Will Stronghold glanced between the two of you, already having understood the situation to an extent, wondering how this would play out for everyone.

"Team:Hero! (L/n) and Peace," Coach said, pointing at the both of you with his pen. "Team:Villain, Lash and Speed!"

He then looked at all of you directly, smirking as he constructed the entire match within his head p, he enjoyed tormenting his students, didn't he? "Go on and get ready, Champs!" He said the word sarcastically.

You all began to move to head to the locker rooms, climbing down the bleachers, you glanced at Warren as he rushed ahead of you, "Warren," you called put to him, before he passed through the locker doors and you huffed in annoyance, hurt. Then you gritted your teeth, glaring at Lash, who snickered at the failed interaction, making the boy clear his throat and keep moving to go ahead into the locker room as well.

Slamming a hand against the girls locker room, freezing the entire door way as you passed through, "I hate boys," you growled as you tossed your shirt into your locker and began dressing into the orange hero suit. Zipping up, you sighed, clenching your fists as you began coating the bench with frost, quickly getting control of your power you let go, ripping your frozen fingers from the wood. Leaving a frozen bench behind you as you fixed the sleeves of your suit.

You zipped up, watching as the lights on your suit flashed before fading, opening the door, you stepped out and walked back into the gymnasium. Ready to fight, eager to let off alittle steam.

Warren stood on the opposite side of Lash and Speed, he still never looked at you, as if you didn't exist, as if you never did. Your steps faltered, you felt your heart clench painfully, every step you took was just another shove to the side. It only fueled you with anger, your hands balling up as you stepped forwards, hardly responding as the Coach yelled out a sudden, "And Start! Save the Civilian!" He blew his whistle, a giant gust of wind and a thunderous, sharp sound echoing through the gym.

Lash and Speed surged forwards, Speed was the first to pop up in front of you both. His blinking blue suit standing out in the brightly lit room as the female stuffed civilian hung on a rope above shredding blades and a fire pit, the sound of grinding metal knocked you out of your stupor. Speed hung over you, his body going up, a hand wrapped around Lash's elongated wrist to swing him like a sword towards the two of you.

But, you swung first. Darting ahead and raising a fist before with a grunt going for the hit.

Right across Warren's face.
