Part Three

Gaster felt a horrible burning sensation all over his body.

He opened his eyes.

Or, one of them anyway.

Gaster had lost full control of his right eye.

He felt it dart around, as if it as scared.

Gaster felt an even worse burning in his hands.

He looked down.

There were two large holes in the middle of both of his hands.

He felt his face.

Gaster felt something wet.

He took his hand away, seeing a black goop covering his fingers.

Gaster immediately ran over to the lab's mirror.

Gaster tried so hard to scream.

He had a sudden realization.

That right eye...

"Arial?" Gaster thought.

Gaster realized Arial's soul was gone.

He looked around frantically for it, but found nothing.

Gaster collapsed on the floor, unable to cry...

Unable to scream...

Unable to emote at all...

A stoic smile was plastered across his face.

His left eye was melting down to his mouth, and his right eye was melting in the opposite direction.

Gaster clutched his face with his destroyed hands.

He left the lab, and went directly to King Asgore.

Gaster's body had mostly melted, besides his hands of course.

People screamed and stared as he shuffled past.

Once Gaster made it to King Asgore, he looked at him with hopeless eyes.

King Asgore back away a few steps, before suddenly getting an angry look in his eyes.

"What did you do!?" he yelled.

Gaster held up his hands in self defense.

Gaster suddenly remembered something.

He took a piece of paper and pen from his pocket, which miraculously survived considering his lab coat had melted onto his skin.

Gaster wrote out a note in wingdings, explaining everything.

"King Asgore,

I cannot atone for what I've done.

After Arial died...

I couldn't handle it.

I took her soul, and I've been using human souls to make it stronger.

It was working until now...

I tried testing out a machine I believed would bring her back...

As you can see, it did not function correctly.

Arial is now fused with me.

I can try to separate us, but in all likelihood, I will perish."

Asgore read the note, and looked down at Gaster, furious.

"How dare you. Do you really believe Arial would have wanted senseless death for her namesake?" Asgore asked.

Gaster hung his head.

"Get out of my sight. You disgust me," Asgore ordered.

Gaster quickly teleported back to his lab behind his home in Snowdin.

He ran into the machine that had fused Arial and him together, and set it in reverse.

Gaster prayed that it would work.
